No appetite after stopping wegovy

So, I have been taking wegovy for nearly a year. Have had to stop due to cost. I'm not complaining, but my appetite has not returned after stopping wegovy a month ago. I would happily go with no food all day. Anyone else experience this? It's like how I used to be pre kids - I can literally go a whole day without wanting food, and then even at my evening meal I am picking at things and can never finish my meal. Slightly concerned about this tbh.

Yes I am. Obviously don't mind that, but want to be able to regulate soon as only need to lose another stone. I am pre menopausal so want to get to a healthy BMI before it becomes too difficult to do so.

No, it's still at the same.ratenas when I was on wegovy. Around 2lb a week.

Yes I have around 2 bottles of red wine over the course of a week. I don't snack at all now, whereas pre wegovy I would munch through loads of snacks with a drink.

Surely this is the point? !

LovelyTeePee · 26/08/2024 20:45

I am a little concerned as most reports seem to suggest that you put more weight on after stopping wegovy. Of course, it might be too early after stopping for my appetite to return to pre wegovy level? But lack of appetite is a new one for me. I don't have any other symptoms e.g. sickness or digestive issues.

2lbs a week is quite a bit of you're only a stone from goal weight.

I'd also be concerned at 2 bottles of wine a week. That seems like a habit you should try to kick.

Ah I can see your point, but usually even one sniff if alcohol and I'm reaching for the crisps etc. I usually have a glass of red wine in the evening but more over the weekend. I thought I was a moderate drinker compared to some of my mum friends who drink a bottle a night.

I feel so full up very quickly..even when I begin a meal feeling hungry, I get halfway through it and have to give the rest to my OH.

I don't know anyone who drinks on weekdays unless it's a special occasion

LovelyTeePee · 26/08/2024 21:00

Lol my husband is French and it really is part of his culture to have a glass of wine with a meal each night. I never used to drink alcohol by before meeting him. I suspect it's the wine increase that led to my weight gain in the first place. I suppose what I am trying to say is that usually alcohol massively increases my appetite....i.e. I pick at things all evening, but not even alcohol seems to be having an impact on my appetite. But yes, agree I need to drop a bottle a week.

Did you also undertake (the mandatory, if they are a genuine provider) food counselling and dietary advice?
The wine is not a major issue - although less would be better. But you should be following the original dietary advice that you were given and the exercise and mental health support that should have been given.
That will help you to maintain at the least and possibly lose more under your own steam.

Yes I was with Boots. I actually follow a healthy diet usually, plenty of vegetables and fish and at least two days without meat but replaced with lentils/beans for protein. I don't have a sweet tooth luckily. My downfall is usually cheese and bread, but even here I am not craving them like I was a year ago.

Your stomach will have "shrunk" after spending years being stretched. So you are actually full. Listen to your body and eat breakfast even if it's just a banana.

LovelyTeePee · 26/08/2024 21:10

About the same as me, so not too excessive. He'll maybe have a couple of beers on top of that at the weekend. But again, I am not concerned about how much he drinks. Honestly compared to our social circle who like a drink, we're known as the lightweights.

I was wondering this actually. Anyone have any experience of this happening after following a strict diet or medication?

Plus breakfast is usually the hardest for me. I really struggle trying to eat something.

Mine took about three months for my appetite to return. The half life is long.
