Ok, new week, new thread!

How is everyone today? Scores on the doors please ladies...

OP posts:
sagacious · 28/04/2008 16:53

Hello !
Niecie I so KWYM
I joined Weightwatchers on Friday (the scales said 12 stone 2 lb {but that was fully clothed with trainers on)

I have been sticking to the diet as rigidly as a rigid thing so my next weigh in had BETTER be spectacular !!

bellabelly · 30/04/2008 17:56

Will watch on Friday with great interest Sagacious! I have been lazy this week, weather dreadful last couple of days so don't expect any great results from me!

sagacious · 02/05/2008 12:40

4.5 lbs off

bellabelly · 02/05/2008 18:00

That is brilliant! I, on the other hand, have gained half a pound... Not my best week!

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 02/05/2008 22:15

Hello! Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten you and it's great to see some recent posts! I will be back soon (with avengeance...have just ordered a pedometer!)

keepcalmandcarryon · 04/05/2008 22:19

well done sagacious! that's fab. I didn't weigh on Friday - 'forgot' (translation: knew I'd had far too social/boozy a week, and couldn't face the scales...)

Will try and 'remember' to weigh in tomorrow - even if it is Bank Holiday Monday.

Dances - at your name! Why?! have I missed something vital? Haven't been on MN much this week, RL taking up an unprecedented proportion of my time.

Niecie · 06/05/2008 19:26

I know what you mean, keepcalm. Not been on much myself for a while - RL gets in the way sometimes and I appear to have lost the habit of coming on here every day. Not sure if this a good thing or a bad thing.

I am re-launching myself on Friday. I did weigh in last Saturday but couldn't remember whether the result meant I had lost, gained or stayed the same. .

So on Friday this is it. Back to square one, starting again. I might even tell you all what I really weigh so I can't cheat or pretend to myself I have lost when I haven't.

....If I am feeling brave that is!

Niecie · 08/05/2008 16:44

Is anybody still out there?

Have we all given up or are we making the most of the sunshine and warm weather and living off salads so the weight loss tomorrow will be spectacular?!

Niecie · 09/05/2008 12:19

OK, I'll go first today shall I.

I weighed myself this morning and I was 16st 9.5lbs.

There, I said it. I am 1.5lbs heavier than when I started so the 2lbs I have lost have gone and then some.

My exam/essay thing really did for me, it seems.

But now I have told you all I have to do something about it, don't I? No more messing about. Shout at me very loudly if I am still the same or worse next week. I need to be worried enough to do something.

keepcalmandcarryoncamping · 10/05/2008 22:48

sorry all, have been AWOL. Haven't weighed in for ages. Have been trying to be sensible, but not had time to focus on dieting - work, family stuff.

OK Neicie, can you and I shout loudly at one another on a daily basis till we concentrate on losing the weight that is making us unhappy? Anyone else still around?

Niecie · 11/05/2008 22:52

Hi Keepcalm, I know what you mean about rl. I lost focus because of my course work and haven't seemed to have got back into the swing now it is all done and dusted.

How are you doing today? The hot weather helps me as I don't feel so hungry. Not had much at all today but we had a roast tonight (in-laws are here so making an effort). I tried to keep the roasties down to a minimum.

Sorry, not much chasing and shouting today. I wrote this earlier, got interupted and didn't press 'post'. Hope you had a good day.

keepcalmandcarryoncamping · 11/05/2008 23:16

neicie, thanks for posting

had an okay day, but will be back on track tomorrow with a vengeance.

what is your strategy? are you cutting down or following any particular plan?

Niecie · 14/05/2008 10:52

Hi Keepcalm - sorry for not posting more - in-laws have been here and I haven't had time to come on here. They left this morning so my time is my own!

Not had a bad couple of days. My FIL has high blood pressure and my MIL is very in to healthy eating as a result so they don't expect heavy meals and calorie laden deserts all day.

Sadly, I don't have a plan. I think that is the problem. I can't decide what to do and therefore I have nothing to stick to other than to decide on a bite-by-bite basis whether I should be eating something or not.

I don't want to 'diet' as such, as diets end and there is a risk all the weight goes back on. I want to eat healthily but it is breaking the habit of eating the bad stuff all the time that is hard. I quite like the idea of 80/20 where you eat 80% good stuff and have 20% treats. I also need to exercise more but I am very aware that weighing as much as I do exercise is a struggle at the moment. I never notice the physical effects of the weight until I thought about getting more active and it is a bit of a shock really.

I'll see how I am getting on with that this Friday! Mind you I am supposed to be going out with friends this evening so that will be a challenge.

I wonder where everybody else is?!

sagacious · 16/05/2008 16:44

Friday weigh in

1.5 lb's off making 8.5lbs in the 3 weeks I've been properly doing WW

My combats are too big for me !

Niecie · 16/05/2008 19:20

Wow congratulation Sagacious. Glad WW is making such a difference.

I was beginning to think I was the only one left so I didn't post earlier on!

I am down a lb so quite happy about that. Can't do much walking/exercise as I seem to have hurt my ankle but hopefully it will be a bit better next week.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 16/05/2008 19:43

well done sagacious and niecie!

brilliant about the combats being loose, sagacious - and no, neicie, you're not the only one left (I thought that was me...)

still here, didn't weigh this am . Feeling quite skinny tho, (v busy with new business which goes live tomorrow - wish us luck )

thing is I know that at this point I can only lose weight if I really concentrate on it, and not arse about having cinnamon twist danish for breakfast (and guess what's in the bread bin?)

i'm guessing I'm about 10st 7lb, at which i feel a lot happier than 11 st plus, which I was when I started on this thread. However also know that at 10st 4 lb I feel brilliant, and at 9st 12 I feel deeply fabulous. Sorry to go on about numbers, they are meaningless other than the points at which one feels merely ok, good, happier, brilliant, or deeply fabulous.

Need more focus in next few weeks!

What about others who were on this thread - Dances? Buda? Piratecat? MMJ? Beansprout? Bellabelly? have not done a weight loss thread before, did find it really helpful in first few weeks, would love to have that support again if I can set my mind to it.

Niecie · 16/05/2008 20:35

If you are willing to keep going Keepcalm then I will. Sagacious, are you in too?

I was thinking about starting another thread today if nobody posted - I am just beginning to get my head together and my backside in gear to do this properly and everybody disappeared.

Hope the business goes well Keepcalm - what sort of business is it (if you don't mind my nosiness)?

Sounds like you are both doing much better than me which is great for you both and good for me too as I hate to be last and this gives me something to compete against.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 16/05/2008 22:12

excellent, Niecie. Will do.

thanks for the good wishes for the business, btw. We are diversifying a bit more on the family farm, as a wedding venue.

First wedding tomorrow, after eighteen months of planning and hard work. Crossed fingers!

Niecie · 17/05/2008 17:48

What a lovely business to be in!

I love a good wedding.

I hope it all goes according to plan today and that the weather is kinder to you than it is to us - it started raining here about 30 mins ago and it isn't very warm either. Bit of a contrast to last weekend, isn't it.

Good luck today and for the future.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 18/05/2008 19:38

thanks niecie! all went well yesterday - the rain held off, bride looked fab, no-one threw up in the herbaceous borders...

so folks, how are we going to lose this weight then?

I should calorie count. It works for me, it's dull but it works.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 19/05/2008 11:35

weighed in this am 10st 9.5lb, 1.5lb on since last weighed several weeks ago

with self for being so rubbish at this

must try harder

am calorie counting today

Niecie · 19/05/2008 14:14

Never mind Keepcalm, so long as you have a plan. Onwards and upwards (or should that be downwards ).

I am crap at calorie counting so, since I am so awfully, horribly over weight at this stage, just cutting out the crap should make an impact. I ate all the chocolate last night so hopefully that temptation will be out of the way and I can focus on 'healthy'.

No idea what to do for tea tonight though. Maybe a chicken salad, easy on the salad dressing though which is difficult as I love salad drenched in vingarette.

Not feeling very imaginative today though - will have to try harder tomorrow.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 19/05/2008 15:10

yes, downwards not upwards hopefully

thanks for not disappearing off, really appreciate it

sadly imagination at cooking not my forte either - rely on groaning shelf of cook books (hence the groaning button on my jeans)

do you have raw or cooked chicken in? have a nice child friendly recipe for chicken kebabs

chop 500g chicken breasts into 1 inch chunks

Mix together 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sesame oil (if you have it, or any oil will do) and 2 tbsp of rice wine OR white wine vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 garlic clove chopped, a little bit of chopped ginger, say 1tsp

marinade chicken for an hour

Thread chicken onto 8 skewers, place in roasting tin lined with foil, pur any marinade left over on, bake at 180c for 20 mins, turn, brush with sauce, cook another ten mins

nice with white rice and a mixed green salad - not so much dressing needed as the chicken is moist from the marinade

good luck today!

piratecat · 19/05/2008 15:21

hello,

i am still here, so is my fat!!

keepcalmandsauvignon · 19/05/2008 16:50

yay piratecat (for you not your ballast!)
