Morning all, sun is shining here today. ☀️

despite not managing a fast800 day yesterday, I weighed in 2lbs lighter this morning, 💦! It does just show how much of our ‘gains’ are salt, bloat, wine, bread related!

Good morning everyone - lovely sunshine here too, it makes such a difference to my mood.

Weighed in early for my re-start at 11st 6.25. I'm not pleased with that but it's my own fault.

Friday cafe day today and we'll be sitting outside in the sunshine. I'm hoping to move more and eat less today.

@thenewaveragebear1983 2 lbs lighter already and you'll be back to "normal" weight in no time. I'm a believer of quickly on, quickly off and that's what will probably happen.

I learned a lot yesterday with walking into town looking like a sack. Not only do I need to make that skirt look good on me but I'm definitely losing stamina, I was so tired last night. I'm used to walking a long way daily and I have to build up my step count. I keep telling injured dog to get better quickly but even then with on 13 year old we can't do what we once did. Looks like I have to get the exercise dvd out but since I pulled a muscle doing it I'm really nervous (it was very painful).

I'm going to hop in the shower and start my day. DP wants to go to the cafe for a late breakfast rather than lunch so he can get on with the slabs this afternoon so it looks like I'll be doing housework ☹️

Have a lovely sunny Friday everyone.

poorpaws · 01/06/2024 17:12

Hi everyone

Just a quick check in to see how you are all doing and hoping you are all enjoying this lovely sunshine.

@thenewaveragebear1983 how is the driveway going? Are you pleased with it?

Slabgate - I'm keeping out of the way. I don't know any details yet but DP was upset because he's made a cockup. Knowing him he'll not settle until all is right again.

My food is going ok and I'm keeping well away from those pesky granola bars, I'm sure they have addictive additives.

I've done every diet and fad diet that exists but just now I'm eating two squares of dark, high cocoa chocolate every evening. I'm nibbling it like a rabbit on lettuce. I've heard it suppresses hunger, who knows, but it's got to be better than what I have been eating.

Still feeling fat and frumpy but trying hard.

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/06/2024 18:33

Hi all. I feel I've been on track last few weeks so can't complain too much.

Had a decent shop today so hopefully I can keep progressing in the right direction.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/06/2024 18:47

@poorpaws it’s such hard work! I did A few hours shovelling today, it’s getting there! Here’s a before and after!

@thenewaveragebear1983 wow! In my head you had a small driveway about the width of a car, but it's a massive area. It looks lovely and your house is so pretty. It looks nearly done, I hope it is for your sake. I guess lots of shovelling equals weight loss 😁

Theredjellybean · 01/06/2024 22:19

Hello all...
I love the drive way and your House.
I'm sorry I've been quiet , it's been hard week, lots of flashes of grief and travelling for work and somehow the days went.
I weighed this morning at 72 kg so a good start to kick ass June...or whatever it is we are doing 😀
I'm also back on track with marathon training and done all bits this week..long run in the morning.
And I even had two days off alcohol this week.
Next week going to make it 3.
Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 at another 2 lbs off....

TalkToTheHand123 · 02/06/2024 06:10

Looks beautiful @thenewaveragebear1983

@poorpaws it's just guessing but I reckon I'm losing weight more since I stopped going to the gym and doing more housework! Quite a good motivator.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/06/2024 06:57

Thanks all, it’s been absolutely back breaking work. And I have drunk wine both nights after working hard all day so probably undone any calorie burning benefits 🤣 there’s no ‘yardwork’ setting on Garmin so I put my watch on cardio yesterday and in 3.5 hours it clocked 900 calories. Which seems like rather a lot of effort for a few glasses of pinot Grigio, no?

anyway, I return to work tomorrow after a week off and I do feel quite refreshed, it’s nice when you feel that you’ve been off for ages. We are at a family bbq today and it’s my son’s birthday tomorrow, which will be not quite on plan days, but then after that I’m properly knuckling down. I’ve not really run and haven’t done a workout at all this week either, so need to pick that back up.

I have a lot of things on in June. I think we have something on every weekend, sometimes both Friday and Saturday nights so my weeks need to be en pointe 👌 I really like fast800 at this time of year, I like the Mediterranean food and the light meals so I think that’s where I’m going to focus my efforts, although I might allow a few more calories.

Hope you’re all doing ok.

triplecheeese · 02/06/2024 14:56

Wow excellent yardwork! Looks amazing. I walked past 3 people doing their driveways while I was on the nursery drop off, tis the season.

At family parties yesterday and today so a relaxing weekend and yet another resolution to not let stress dictate what I eat and drink this week.

I've been running but I've noticed that after about 2 miles (TMI) I really have pressure to go to the loo whether I need it or not 😳 unfortunately I think it's my old curse prolapse kicking in again, possibly as I'm increasing my high impact exercise too quickly. I guess I'll add in pelvic floor exercises (sigh) and try to do an online Pilates class when the kids are in bed. Anyone had any experience of that? I had bad prolapse after my 2 births, and both time diligently recovered with women's physio, and now it's back again 😢

well done on the AF days @Theredjellybean, I really appreciate when you check in here.

Weight has been all over the place the past couple of weeks but has been moving in the right direction and am 10st 7lbs today... 1 pound to go and I'm back to "normal" BMI.

happy Sunday everyone and good luck for the weigh ins.

poorpaws · 02/06/2024 15:19

@TalkToTheHand123 sadly I've given the housework a miss today after doing quite a bit yesterday. DD arrived and actually stayed chatting for over an hour (mainly because I told her off yesterday that she doesn't make time for me). It doesn't take much to demotivate me in hot sunshine, I just want to sit eating ice cream (luckily I have no ice cream).

I was supposed to be cleaning my bedroom carpet today. It was such a bad buy, one of those "keeps clean, doesn't stain" lies. I only look at it and it gets dirty and I just couldn't be bothered with it today.

Less said about the slabs the better ☹️

Still trying hard, having salad, jacket potato and chicken breast for dinner today. Sadly exercise is next to nil.

Have a great Sunday evening everyone.

poorpaws · 03/06/2024 07:40

My re-start was on Friday but I decided to go back to my Monday weigh-in (old habits die hard) and I've lost 2 lbs since my restart weigh-in.

I know it's early days and I'm aware of my track record but seeing myself like a frump in a bin bag has somehow woken me up.

I still want to binge in the evenings but I have set rules now. Nothing after dinner until 7.30-8.00 pm when I eat my dark chocolate (very slowly). Only two pieces are allowed but they are quite big, flat squares and 151 calories. That's so much better than the granola bars which always lead to another packet and then craving more chocolate.

It's supermarket shopping morning and for the first time in a long time I'm not buying any granola bars, I swear I was/am addicted but instead of going cold turkey I've found a substitute. So far so good.

I hope you are all enjoying this lovely sunshine. On my short dog walks people are already saying it's too hot, but I love the sun.

Have a good Monday everyone and I'm praying to the diet gods that you all have good results this week either on the scales or tape measure.

Theredjellybean · 03/06/2024 07:58

@triplecheeese ...my running issue is runners diarrhoea so I feel your pain.
Honestly (TMI) a long run is better than colonic irrigation for me.
I live on coast in cornwall so it's pretty rural and I run farm tracks and the coastal path so can do hedge stops easily but when I'm in London I have to plan very carefully 😂often the loos are locked...so I sometimes just run circuits round a particular loo...
The inner circle in regent's park is 1 km and there is loos ...so I just go round and round...it's very dull.
I'm resorting to Imodium in buckets loads now I'm running longer distances...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/06/2024 12:46

It’s a fight or flight reaction I think 💩- never happened to me but I know a few friends who can’t go long distances without a loo stop. I do find that because I retain so much water overnight that when I walk the dog in the morning I can manage only about 40 minutes max and I am absolutely bursting for a wee when I get in. I’ve had to make a few al fresco stops 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/06/2024 21:09

Ok day for me until dinner time, it is Ds’s birthday so I had chicken tikka masala and a piece of birthday cake.

I feel really sad today, a few things at work really upset me and I don’t even know why, except for I’m on my oestrogen patches this week and they make me feel really down. I’m just going to try and get a good nights sleep, I kept getting really tearful today. It’s never nice going back to work after a break is it?

OP posts:
triplecheeese · 03/06/2024 21:24

Awww @thenewaveragebear1983 big hug, there are days when it gets on top of you. Get a hot drink and a good nights sleep. I ended up missing a family dinner tonight because of overwork so I'm about to make a herbal tea and go to bed early. Write today off and start again tomorrow.

yes mine is runners diarrhoea too! It used to happen sometimes when I was young and out running in Regent's Park early morning after a night on the espresso martinis 🤣 but I'm not 25 any more so now i guess it's our old nemesis gravity taking her toll. I've dug out my old physio exercises to see if that makes a difference. I remember saying smugly to the physio "oh yes I did my pelvic floor exercises every day for 3 months" and she said... "you know it's 3 times a day for the rest of your life"

wishing you all a decent night's sleep. Don't let the bastards grind you down 🩷

poorpaws · 03/06/2024 21:51

@thenewaveragebear1983 Big hug from me too.

My dgd calls them "secret wees" and my friend talks of going to Sally Greenfields. My dogs know all my secret wee stops and sometimes/often go over to them when I don't even need a wee 😳

Everything on plan today. I daren't speak too soon but so far this evening dark chocolate is going very well.

Off for an early night before I ruin everything.

Have a good sleep everyone x

Theredjellybean · 04/06/2024 21:53

I hope today was happier

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/06/2024 06:34

Aw thanks for the hugs 🥰 yes I felt a lot better yesterday. I think I did a bit of ‘eating my feelings’ though, it’s hard when there’s birthday cake and other goodies in the house when I’m feeling low. I feel a lot brighter this morning though.

it’s a sunny morning here so I’m heading out for an early morning run, it really is a long time since I’ve been out, and yet I feel like I’m aching all over probably still from the gravel shovelling last week!

Hope everyone is doing ok? @poorpaws I have never managed to do the dark chocolate thing and am always a bit in admiration of those who can have their squares and stop, I hope you’re finding it’s working for you.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 05/06/2024 08:54

@thenewaveragebear1983 It's very early days but the dark chocolate seems to be working so far. I think I am the type who needs strict rules because I don't like to break them but give me a free pass and I'll go berserk.

I just needed a good reason to swap those granola bars and since the dark chocolate I haven't had any, but there are some left in the cupboard 👀

I hope everyone is doing well and I'm so pleased you are feeling better @thenewaveragebear1983.

Have a lovely sunny Wednesday everyone and just keep trying.

Sedgwick · 05/06/2024 09:04

@poorpaws well done on your 2 lb loss.

Going ok here, I am almost at my goal weight but my measurements are not what I would like. I am still an awful lot wider than I used to be. Last summer I was 2.5 stone heavier so I am much happier. Just wondering if another half stone would do anything for my waist and tummy or if I have to start doing sit-ups or planks which I have never done. Why can’t weight come off evenly!

Sedgwick · 05/06/2024 09:08

@poorpaws glad the dark chocolate is helping, if I crave sugar (missing white wine) it works for me too. Throw the granola bars in the bin and pour something over them so you aren’t tempted to retrieve in a moment of weakness. Those bars are often complete junk, the nerve of companies marketing them as healthy!

poorpaws · 05/06/2024 09:30

@Sedgwick I totally agree about weight coming off unevenly. I have small boobs but the weight loss always starts with them and never my big tummy.

You have done so well over the past year, you should be feeling very proud and I bet you look far, far better than your head tells you.

I agree the granola bars are just junk but addictive junk. It's amazing that I can eat a small amount of dark chocolate and yet once I have a granola bar I just have to have another. I bet I look so funny nibbling chocolate like a rabbit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/06/2024 21:27

I find granola bars particularly addictive as well @poorpaws, something about the combination of sugar, carbs, fat, crunch, salt.

I’ve had an ok day today but I’m categorically not managing anything like fast800 as I had planned. I just can’t eat that little! Today I’m ending the day on 1150 cals, 32 g carbs and 115g protein, which I think is ok- it’s under my calorie allowance. I did a run this morning, felt very unfit after not running all week.

tomorrow- I’m in meetings all morning so will try to fast til late morning, then have a brunch of eggs, then dinner will be salmon, green veg, and Boursin cheese. 😋
i’m going to run again in the morning and I would like to squeeze a workout in as well if I can..

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/06/2024 20:58

I’ve ended up today on 1500 calories. Annoyingly, my food was fine, but my mother bought done multipacks of twirl bars for the dc (which they don’t need but she’s a feeder 🤦‍♀️) and so stupidly I had one, then ended up having 2 more 🤷‍♀️ I did have a long, tiring, boring and stressful day in my defense.

I did a run, and a short workout. And walked the dog. She’s come into season today so it was a gentle on lead plod around.

the weekend is looking again and bringing with it all its temptations and off plan opportunities. Annoyingly I feel like I never really got started this week and now it’s the weekend again…. I’ve got some nice food in but I’m feeling quite blah and uninspired about food right now.
