I weighed in this morning and I was 155.5lbs which I'm actually very pleased with. Since my BIG weigh in on 11th November I have lost 6lbs. I'm still a bit heavier than I would like and I still intend to keep it up as long as I can until Christmas, but that's a nice boost. I had gone up to 161.5 and seeing the 160's again really did upset me.

Fasting day for me today. I have just done a lovely frosty walk with Maggie, I'm not running today so wanted to get a few extra kms in with her instead. Soup for lunch, mince of some type for dinner.

Have a great day all

@Sedgwick I'm giving it one last chance to have crisps in the house before they get banned!

I've bougt a few too many potatoes so may add them to my next batches of soup as well as other items in the cupboard.

poorpaws · 21/11/2024 15:14

Hi everyone,

It's been raining here most of the day, very windy and exceptionally cold so yet again I couldn't get out with the dogs which is a great shame because I do enjoy walking them.

I did my supermarket grocery shop this morning and I think I did quite well. I wanted one of those chickens in a bag but they were tiny and I got an extra large one for not much more money. I've thrown some butter over it slices of lemon and rosemary inside and out and put it in a bag myself. I suppose you have to pay for staff dressing the birds when they are in the bags, hence the extra.

I bought some really nice looking carrots, broccoli, a very nice white cauliflower and some baby potatoes. I'm quite looking forward to my dinner tonight.

I had soup for lunch and I must say I'm very hungry because I didn't have a roll with it so I might have a latte as they do seem to fill a gap before dinner.

Back to the vets tomorrow morning to see if they think Molly needs any more antibiotics but the stitches are looking fine, the ear is clean so I doubt she'll need any more.

I'm slowly coming back to earth after all the drama and my eating has certainly improved. I think I was eating to combat my stress but whatever the gluttony was about, I feel I'm over it for the time being anyway.

@Sedgwick I really am feeling more positive and long may it continue but you know what I'm like. I can go off track in a heartbeat 😁

poorpaws · 21/11/2024 15:16

Posted too soon..

@thenewaveragebear1983 good weight result and I'm sure you will continue to succeed before the Christmas festivities begin. I just wish I had your willpower.

Storyland · 21/11/2024 21:31

@poorpaws so glad Molly is home and recovering well!

@sedgwick I love West Wing, its one of my comfort shows. I'm in Season 5 right now, the Shutdown episode is about to happen. I'm going to look up the Donna! Podcast, thanks.

@thenewaveragebear1983 that's great progress! And how you got 22k steps on a Tuesday is beyond me!

Not much to report for me. Having a run of busy days and just needing to collapse on the sofa once all the tasks are done. Eating not terrible but not great either - had my first Christmas themed supermarket meal deal this week - turkey and cranberry wrap from ASDA. I'm a sucker for all Christmas food.

Been snowing on and off this afternoon. DD is hoping for a snow day tomorrow. I wouldn't mind one either but don't think it's likely

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/11/2024 17:14

Weird day for me, it's been a very long boring week at work and today I just admitted defeat and just messed about a dud jobs at home all day and occasionally wiggled my mouse. Basically skived all day. We had not much food in so I had a toastie for brunch, a mince pie for lunch, and god knows what will be for dinner. I have been trying to eat through various freezer meals to use things up so I could easily have something healthy. We'll see....

I was supposed to seeing friends tonight but it's been cancelled so instead I am going to bootcamp, deciding it's preferable to go when it's bitterly cold and dark than go tomorrow morning when heavy rain is forecast all morning. Plus it frees up my Saturday morning.

I am so very glad it's the weekend, I'm tired and a bit meh about everything at the moment. We have a wedding on Sunday, and it's my non working Monday so hopefully should return on Tuesday feeling a bit more refreshed.

What a strange day, I think I'm coming down with something, I have just been so tearful all day. Really down in the dumps. In the end end we went to a local very posh garden centre so dh could look at the Lemax village and he must have felt sorry for me because he bought the dog an £80 joules dog bed 🤬

Picture of the dog on the sofa added to show what a good purchase this was 🙄

But anyway. I feel a bit better. I've eaten garbage but hey. I weighed this morning and I was 155.2 so another half pound off. So I am just going to enjoy this evening and get back on it tomorrow. Or Maybe Monday as we're at a wedding tomorrow.

Love the pup picture! Hope you are feeling better today @thenewaveragebear1983 .

I've put on 3lbs. Not a surprise as I've been eating and drinking and not moving much. Going to have to get back in line.

The plan is:
Eat less
Stop snacking
drinking only on weekends
exercise 3 times a week - even if only 20 minutes per time.

Doing the food shop today. Going to stockpile on fruit and soups.

Have low motivation to do anything at the moment. But I might have to do the things anyway, even without motivation

poorpaws · 25/11/2024 11:48

Hi everyone

I think we're all lacking motivation right now. I think we all know the gluttony is about to start and we can't be bothered with the healthy eating and exercise, well that's how I feel anyway.

I was such an angel for 3 or 4 days and then I weighed myself, positive that I'd have lost 2 lbs or even 1 lb at least. Nope I'd sts sending myself into a tsunamis of a binge and a "what the hell" attitude.

I've still sts at todays weigh-in so I guess I'll just moderate my eating a tiny bit until new year when I'm hoping we all get back on that bloody wagon which has rolled miles down the hill without me for the whole of 2024.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I love your doggle, she looks so comfy bless her.

In other doggy news Molly is doing great, she's off the antibiotics and has one more vets appointment on Friday when she should be discharged.

I think my lack of weight loss might also be due to no dog walks. I've stayed with Molly every day and DP has been with the other two. We're back to all going out this morning so hopefully that should help.

I think we all might just trundle along now until the festivities and then we'll have a group meeting and possibly a 7/7 in 2025 😬

Sedgwick · 25/11/2024 12:54

@Storyland I’ve gained too, 2.5 lbs. I had a mini break last week, 2 nights in a hotel and reunion with friends I haven’t seen in years. It was fun and I had a big Sunday lunch yesterday (had thirds), lots of wine throughout so it’s no wonder.

@poorpaws its amazing the difference a few days has made for Molly, good move changing vets!

It’s a little over 4 weeks to Christmas. I am going to be strict again. I don’t have anything foody until mid December and that’s just one dinner. I did 4 miles on the cross trainer this morning and going back to OMAD and weighing every morning. Dinner tonight is one tray - leeks, spinach, peas, onions, garlic and left over roast chicken.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/11/2024 13:37

I agree @poorpaws , I think knowing it's creeping up on us just makes me think 'why bother' but then I do remember my why bother as well. So I know I'll feel better if I eat well when I can, and not graze on toast, and not mindlessly shovel chocolate into my mouth. If I cook proper meals with veggies and at least try a bit. And staying the same at this time of year is hard but it's better than gaining, and means a lot less effort in January.

I'm really tired and hungover today, we went to a lovely wedding yesterday but drank way too much and then slept really badly, so I have gone back to bed for a rest before collecting dc from school.

OP posts:
Storyland · 26/11/2024 09:01

It does sound like we are all in the same boat. Its a very tricky time of year.

Another thing that I think I need to change is to go to bed earlier. I've been staying up later to watch telly and turning in at 11/11:30. That gives me more time to snack and less time to sleep.

I know it's very sad but I think I cope best when I'm in bed for 9.30 and wind down with reading or even phone time. Then actually go to sleep 10/10:30.

I'm awake at 6 whatever time I fall asleep so I think an earlier bed time would give me a boost for every thing else

poorpaws · 26/11/2024 11:39

Hi everyone

I'm enjoying getting out walking again, I have missed it and it's been lovely and sunny today although wet under paw.

My food hasn't been too good, I'm craving everything that I know I shouldn't have.

@Storyland I've been going to bed a lot earlier for years because of my late night eating rituals. Now I just can't stay up, I'm used to it but my snacking has just got earlier 🙈. I can start snacking straight after dinner and that gives me a long time until 9.30ish when I go to bed with my iPad. I don't watch tv so I don't miss it and I'm up fairly early so it suits me to go to bed early.

A month to Christmas so I think I'll just try to maintain until then. There's no good thinking I will lose weight before Christmas now because I know I won't so I've stopped kidding myself.

I'm going Christmas shopping on Thursday and from previous experience I know that it will be very difficult to get any lunch so I might take a sandwich or maybe buy a sandwich if the weathers nice. I like to go to M&S for lunch but in the lead up to Christmas the queues are so long and it's packed with people so I'd rather sit on a bench outside quietly. I hate crowds and queueing.

Have a good Tuesday everyone and don't berate yourself at this time of year if you don't do so well. New year will be here soon enough and then we'll all jump on the wagon and climb the diet hills together.

Accbabymom1994 · 26/11/2024 12:23

I'm keeping my religious fasts the ones I ate in Ramadan during my periods and I'm absolutely shattered, it's really funny because I have been keeping 22 20 hour fasts nd not felt this way
This is only 18 hours

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/11/2024 19:39

@poorpaws how is molly recovering? Nice that she can get outside again, it was lovely here today with blue skies. Chilly though.

Despite a big weekend, I just weighed after work and I'm only 1lb up and that's after eating and drinking today so maybe I have got away with it. Dinner tonight is a chicken casserole and lots of veg.i should close up the kitchen in 1400 calories. Good day for me- AND it's a Tuesday.

I am pretty good at not eating in the evening. I do sometimes have fruit that I don't really need/want, just for something sweet. But I don't eat crisps or biscuits really at that time. My danger zone is the 3pm to dinner time window where I can literally eat 1000s of calories if I put my mind to it,

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/11/2024 21:29

Good evening lovely ladies,

A good day again for me. I started off with a very cold and wet bootcamp in the dark, then a dog walk, then a long day working. Do you find the cold makes you hungrier? I just couldn't get full today. I tried very hard to keep on track but I did have a couple of biscuits watching bake off with ds. Ending the day on 1600 cals.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to run round the park with the dog first thing, then obviously am working all day. I need to do some housework so in the evening I will probably do a few hours cleaning and tidying while dh does football duties. It's my work Christmas do on Friday, it feels very odd as I don't feel Christmassy at all, then we have a trip to see a light show and Christmas markets on Saturday. I'm really not in a festive mood just yet so I need to get myself in the mood soon!

OP posts:
Sedgwick · 28/11/2024 09:57

@thenewaveragebear1983 I admire your outdoor running in the cold and dark. Frosty morning here, everything looks pretty.

Doing well here with my eating, 3 days of just eating dinner at 5.30 pm. Last night was 2 fillets of smoked haddock (high protein, low cal), curried chickpeas (Jamie Oliver pouch), mange tout and bag of spinach. I’ve lost 1lb. Halibut tonight, head of cauliflower, chestnut mushrooms, peppers, leeks. Bit odd but it’s using up the veg drawer.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/11/2024 19:26

I did run this morning, it was too icy on the pavements so I did 5km round the park on the fields with the dog. She probably did double that, as she loops round me! Since about lunchtime though I have felt really really tired, with a sore throat and now coming out in a cold with a temperature. I have also eaten absolute rubbish all day long- biscuits, toast and loads of extra calories. Basically a big binge all afternoon 😢

Tomorrow it's my Christmas do, I will log into work for an hour or so in the morning, then leave for town, we meet at 12 - Chinese buffet lunch and a few drinks. It won't be a heavy day drinking or anything but I will probably have a few glasses of wine. I'm not really looking forward to it, especially now I'm feeling under the weather. But it won't be a late night at least. But will probably be over on my calories, plus no gym tomorrow night- will need to book on Saturday morning if I'm feeling better.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 29/11/2024 16:21

@thenewaveragebear1983 how are you feeling today? I hope your works do went well, I know you weren't particularly looking forward to it.

As planned I did my little trip to M&S, Boots and Home Bargains yesterday. I do this every year on my own and I usually really enjoy it. This years I bustled through it at breakneck speed and was soon back home.

I've been eating constantly, and the wrong things too. I spent over £60 in Home Bargains on chocolate favourites until I got home and realised that a big part of it was bought for me. Add this to the M&S chocolate and biscuits and I have a huge stash to keep me off track for a few months.

But, in M&S I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror. This wasn't fair because I was not in a changing room and was actually holding up a jumper to buy for DP and there, right in front of me, was a full length mirror. It was a shock to say the least. You know how really big people tend to have rolls of clothes around their middle and they constantly readjust them. In the mirror I was that person, rolls of crumpled layers making me look like a Michelin man.

Safe to say I'm very much on track with my diet now. I weighed this morning (not weigh day) and I've gained 2 lbs in no time at all. I thought I felt more uncomfortable and looked bigger. I'm very nearly at my all time high and it's nearly Christmas🙈.

I went through all the chocolate this morning and placed it into separate piles for different people. The chocolate I had bought for me I checked the sell by date and wrote it on the front with a black sharpie. Most of the dates were October 2025 so I guess I have enough stashed for the whole year given that I'm not eating very much in future.

Because I need something in my life I've decided that Sunday is treat day and I can have chocolate so long as I haven't had any all week. I'll see how that goes and I have to move more, much more.

In other news Molly was back to the vets today for her stitches out. I was really surprised at how many stitches she had to have, but the vet was pleased and Molly was discharged. We have to go back in February for a check up and a second ultrasound in May is planned to see if the heart has deteriorated (that's another £1,000 😬 but she's worth every penny).

I've got a chicken in the air fryer, veg cut and ready to cook so a healthy meal tonight.

Christmas is officially sorted apart from the food. Presents are all bought (still awaiting one or two parcels) and the decorations will be going up in a week or so. Thank goodness it's nearly done and the mayhem will soon be over.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/11/2024 17:47

@poorpaws I feel very under the weather and sorry for myself. I left my work do after the food, I kept having hot and cold chills. I then went and bought dh a very expensive dressing gown for Christmas in joules at grand central (£69!!!???!!) and went home. I really don't like being ill and I'm not a good patient.

We have tickets tomorrow for the Luminate light trail in Birmingham, and big plans from the dc to visit the Christmas market and have burgers. I'm thinking this weekend will be a little off piste food wise! And the week ahead I have three, yes 3, Christmas socials. So maybe I won't weigh until after all of those are done!

OP posts:
Storyland · 29/11/2024 20:57

Sorry you have a cold @thenewaveragebear1983 , hopefully you are getting it done and out the way before Christmas.

Sounds like you are on it @poorpaws. I think shopping centre mirrors are the most unflattering mirrors in the world. And I'm always scraggly mid-shop. So please don't be too hard on yourself.

I've still not got on track. Been busy and exhausted all week. Tonight I asked DH if we could skip our weekly walk. Couldn't face the cold and dark. We went to KFC and then ALDI to get the Christmas drinks in and some other Christmas treats. For the first year I've designated a kitchen cupboard for Christmas and put all the goodies out of sight.

Anyway, going to have a long soak in the bath tonight, a lie in tomorrow and then hopefully I'll have a bit more energy to sort myself out

poorpaws · 30/11/2024 08:14

@thenewaveragebear1983 how are you feeling today? I'm sorry to hear you felt even worse yesterday and couldn't enjoy your works do. I too am a really bad patient and just want to be left on my own to sleep it off when DP wants to play nurse (that sounded very dodgy but you know what I mean ☺️).

I hope you feel well enough to go out today and that you'll enjoy the market. It's so difficult when you're feeling rotten, but also feel you have to go out for the family and put on a brave face. Do you think you could stay in bed on Sunday and have a rest? Sounds like you've got a hefty week next week. Anyway, I hope you feel very much better very soon.

@Storyland. I'm sorry you are exhausted too. I think at this time of year it all gets too much, there's too much to do, too much to think about, too much money to spend and it's all just too much.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. After the grocery shop, dog walk, and Molly's vet visit I cooked the chicken and loads of veg and had a lovely meal. I didn't smack all evening and kept away from the lattes but before I went to bed, I had a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes which was so much better than the normal chocolate feast I have.

I've just got to keep it all up and make healthy eating without snacking the norm. At the moment as I've said before, I just want to snack constantly. I'm going to try and be really good today so that tomorrow because it's my favourite day of the week and my self indulgent day I can at least have a treat.

This is the second time I've typed all this, I don't know what I was playing at but the first time I lost it all.

Have a good weekend everyone and try to feel better all of you. It's December tomorrow 🙈, it's hard to believe.

poorpaws · 30/11/2024 08:17

Oh no "smack all evening" sounds even more dodgy.

Storyland · 30/11/2024 18:21

poorpaws · 30/11/2024 08:17

Oh no "smack all evening" sounds even more dodgy.

That would surely have to be a whole other thread!😂

Had a nice day today. Slept well. Went to the garden centre with DH and DD. Bought some decorations and had brunch. Then this afternoon DD and I tidied her room and de-cluutered her clothes. Three bags worth ready to go to bin or charity shop. So that felt productive.

Christmas tree will be going up tomorrow! Mince pies and Bailey's are at the ready!

poorpaws · 30/11/2024 20:37

@Storyland isn't it fabulous to have a clear out. If you remember before the Molly drama I was doing brilliantly. DD took a lot of bags each week to the charity shop for me and I have just one big box left. I'm sure I can find more in the new year, my drawers and cupboards are still full.

Your day out sounds lovely and I hope you managed to find gorgeous Christmas decorations. This is the first year in many years that I've not bought any. I usually go crazy buying all sorts, I love a lot of lights, but this year I am determined not to (I am a little envious of you though).

It's gone ok today. DD arrived, without the kids so we could actually talk uninterrupted, and she brought chocolate. I explained about my M&S mirror experience and she gasped when I told her the diet was back in full force. "Oh noooo, I've bought you so much chocolate for Christmas, so much mum". <sigh>.
