Hi everyone

Sorry, sorry I've been missing again.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I hope you are enjoying your holiday and I've just caught up on your progress, amazing!

@Theredjellybean I hope your reset is working. You have done so well since you've been on here so don't beat yourself up, you are an inspiration as well as @thenewaveragebear1983.

@TalkToTheHand123 I hope your holiday is going well too. I can't deal with holiday excess so I have no wise words, you'll just do well when you get back home 🤞

@Storyland. It sounds to me like you are overdoing it, give yourself a break. I'm sure the housework can wait a few days until you are fully rested.

The reason I've been absent is because I've hurt my back and I've been in a lot of pain. I've got a long term back problem and I've seen countless osteopaths and chiropractors. All I did was get out of a chair a little awkwardly and it has set it off again.

Also DD has problems with her controlling ex and she is worrying me a lot.

As you can imagine this hasn't helped my diet at all. I haven't weighed but I'm hoping I've at least maintained rather than gained (this could be wishful thinking).

Anyway I'm going to keep trying but it's difficult. It's too hot for the dogs and I'm in a lot of pain if I walk too much so exercise is minimal to say the least.

DP is only here this morning so I'm hoping to have a restful afternoon, maybe sitting in my garden under a parasol.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone and very well done to all of you.

Morning,
Yesterday I ate a lot of food and drank a fair bit of wine! My foods been great all week but yesterday I did just have what I wanted- I've still not had anything sugary but I think if it had been available I would have, and after drinking with the family last night I came home and ate white toast with lurpak! Was very nice though! And I did do a very gruelling 11k run across roads, trails and the last 3 miles along the sand so I felt I'd earned it! I think I've overall done a fairly good job of balancing calories in/calories out this week....
it's just the wine, despite my best intentions I have drank every day but my sleep has been awful and because dh has drunk too he's been snoring, disturbing me further, and I have been waking really early with the bright sun in the windows. I will try not to drink tonight I think. But I think even though calories wise it's probably ok, the alcohol adds a bloat that takes a few days to get rid of once normality resumes!

Really struggling to sleep here in my south facing bedroom. I’ve lost 2 lbs this week which I think is down to tossing and turning, perspiration and a lot of salad. My waist is finally down to 30 inches after 7 years of trying, it was 38 inches. My BMI is 20.6, it’s taken a lot to get my waist down.

@thenewaveragebear1983 so happy to read your post, it is a great feeling. Mine was not the fattest at hotel breakfast.

poorpaws · 31/07/2024 11:40

@thenewaveragebear1983 and @Sedgwick both of you are doing brilliantly 👏. You put me to shame.

I usually love the heat but I never want to do any kind of work in it. Two of my dogs are really struggling, they are old and black and the black fur really holds in the heat.

I've just put a huge load of washing in and I think I'll have to go now and water a few plants at soil level because everything is struggling.

Have a good day everyone. I'm really hungry and it's not quite lunchtime yet. ☹️ (note to self, do not snack before lunch).

Storyland · 01/08/2024 07:22

First day of August! I jumped on the scales this morning and I'm down to 10st2. If I lose 3lbs in the next 2 weeks I think that would mean I would be at a 'healthy' bmi when I go on holiday. So that's going to be my motivation.

Nearly had a hiccup yesterday. I accidentally left my packed lunch at home and wanted all the delicious food from the cafe at work. I had a chicken wrap and a can of coke but resisted more treats. Then I changed the meal plan for the evening. I ate my left behind salad and fed the rest of the family pizza. So didn't end up being too indulgent a day after all.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I don't know how you resist sugar so well! It's incredible! Hope you are still enjoying your holiday!

@Sedgwick hope you have slept better tonight. Its really encouraging to hear how far you've come. Helps me to believe its doable!

@poorpaws should be a cooler day today. Hopefully better for the dogs. Though they might not like the forecast thunderstorms.

Storyland · 02/08/2024 07:13

Hope you don't mind double posting. Starting the day with reporting in here helps me to stay on track.

Yesterday I impulsively bought pop tarts from B&M. Pure nostalgia for me. DD wanted to try them so I toasted her two. She ate one but only had two bites of the second one because it was 'too sugary' 🙄(I sometimes wonder if she is my child.) Anyway, I wolfed down that partially eaten poptart and it was amazing. That was my treat.

Rest of the day was pretty good. Cereal, salad, prawn gumbo stew with brown rice. Did 20 minutes of a hit workout.

Today, I'd like to get a longer walk done. We normally do one whilst DD has a Friday night activity but it's not on this week because of holidays. I'm hoping DD and DH might be up for an evening walk 🤞 It would be nice to do something together

poorpaws · 02/08/2024 07:41

Hi everyone

It's not going well here but could be worse I suppose but I haven't weighed.

It was far too hot for a dog walk yesterday so barely any exercise except wandering around the supermarket looking for cheap low calorie food.

Today is cafe day but I think we'll be there when it opens at 10 so we can get the dogs home before it's overpoweringly hot. The fans in the kitchen are on constantly but the dogs are still struggling.

Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy the sunshine. I'm craving those three scoop ice creams I love so much but don't fancy the mile walk into town so luckily I've refrained.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/08/2024 09:53

On my way home now from a week away. I'm feeling really tired as I have not slept well at all, plus being away with Dh's family has really been hard this year. I just love my family time so much and I felt really resentful having to share it. I have drunk more than I wanted to and eaten a lot, although only yesterday really was a "day off" in the sense that i ate bread and had ice cream. Every other day my food has been on plan, although more in quantity. I've run 3 times as well.

If counting my last official weigh in, July was an excellent month for me, my lowest recording was 147.5lbs I think- a loss of about 5-6lbs in total. Of course I will have retained some of that this week, but I plan to do a few really strict days now before doing an official weigh in.

The plan I have been loosely following (whole30) has had a relaunch and some new rules/books have been brought out, which I am going to try and get and do that in August.

OP posts:
Sedgwick · 02/08/2024 10:55

@Storyland well done on your weight loss so far, it’s exciting you are nearly at healthy BMI.

It is doable but for me (a lot older than you) it only really happened when I was very strict. I really don’t eat any junk at this point. Low carb generally but I do eat potatoes cooked healthily.

After 7 years of ups and down I love being able to fit in my clothes, pull stuff on and go without agonising. So much happier in my body. I figured out, eventually, that I wanted to go back to being a size 10 more than I wanted crisps, bread and white wine (my vices). The weeks I didn’t lose it was because I was strict for 5 days and then relaxed at the weekend, undoing the 5 days. For me I had to be strict every single day to make progress, consistency is key. I still struggle with the wine, some weeks I drink every evening and other weeks I drink AF Lucky Saint beers. I don’t struggle food wise, my appetite and taste buds have adjusted and I love eating this way.

Keep going everyone and don’t go crazy because it’s the weekend! Salad and mock tails are fun too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/08/2024 08:25

@Sedgwick well done. I have found I have to be really strict as well if I want results. Otherwise I just regain and lose the same few pounds over and over. Food quality is also really really important for me, not so much low carbs but no rubbish/empty calories.

I have done my post holiday weigh in and I am 150lbs which I am actually pretty thrilled about, that's only a 2.5lb gain for a whole week away. Being super tight on my food certainly has helped.

Today it's back to reality with a thud. Weather has changed here so I am going to go to a wet bootcamp this morning, then this afternoon I'm going to blitz my housework room by room. I'm in the mood for a clear out and deep clean!

I've planned my meals for the next few days, back to basics of meat + salad, lots of water, loads of veg. My goal for August is to eat more veg, both quantity and variety. I have set myself a mini target of 145lbs by 1st September- doable I think but it will require some dedication.

OP posts:
Storyland · 03/08/2024 08:30

@Sedgwick yes, I'm finding I only lose weight if I'm strict all week. Treats really do have to be occasional or balanced out with lots of exercise. It's a lot of work but it seems to be working right now m

This morning DD and DH made pancakes so that's my treat. DD and I are now about to have a dance party in the living room. Dancing and cleaning will be my exercise today I think.

Hope you all have a great day

Storyland · 04/08/2024 07:50

Official Weigh in day for me. I have lost 3lbs this week. Also had first comment from a friend this week noticing the loss which felt nice.

Sunday is normally my rest day and my pub lunch day. But I would really like to get a walk in this afternoon. I didn't manage it on Friday and yesterday was too busy with people coming round. The walks normally do my head a lot of good but I also normally need to zone out on Sunday afternoons, read and recharge. So I'm not going to put pressure on myself. I'll see how I feel.

@thenewaveragebear1983 welcome home again. Glad to hear the post holiday weigh in was OK. I think you'll smash your August target. Do you have a new big event/occasion to aim for?

Sedgwick · 04/08/2024 13:13

@thenewaveragebear1983 Only gaining 2.5 lbs on holiday is really good. @Storyland 3 lb loss, fantastic! Are you almost in healthy bmi now?

Hurt my back slightly, hoping it sorts itself out quickly. 11 hour flight later this week and don’t want to have back problems. Have a good day everyone.

Storyland · 05/08/2024 06:56

@Sedgwick I'm almost there with a healthy bmi. Think 1 more lb will do it. Hope your back is feeling better today.

I was quite lax yesterday. Cake for breakfast 😳 and split a BLT with chips with DD at lunch. I also got in a 5 mile walk with my Dad so it wasn't all bad but I'm going to have to make up for it this week.

My Monday plan is: work, lunch time walk, food shop, chicken salad for tea, half an hour on the rowing machine.

Also I really must order a proper sports bra today. None of my current ones are really doing the job when I'm running.

poorpaws · 05/08/2024 08:46

Hi everyone,

I've just been catching up with you all and it's very good news from everyone. Well done on your losses and nearly healthy BMI news. You are all doing so well at the moment, keep up the very good work.

I think I've sort of maintained or gained maybe half a pound but no more. I've been having a bit of a rotten time but I know it's my fault for letting things upset me.

Every day I feed the ducks, swans, moorhens, coots at the wildlife lakes near to my home. Apparently there has been a complaint against me. It seems that people think I'm feeding bread and my dogs are too near the wildlife.

The real facts are I buy floating duck and swan food online from Little Peckers (love that company name) in 15 kg bags and it's the best food on the market. Also, if they care to watch, the ducks know my dogs and will go really near to them but if other dogs come past they get back into the water. I wish people would mind their own business.
It's sent me into another deep hole of "even when I do everything right, I'm wrong".

Anyway I'm going to try to do yet another gentle re-start today and gain inspiration from all of you.

It's cooler here, so hopefully a nice slow walk later (and I will feed the ducks) and then maybe a bit of housework (exciting times).

Have a good day everyone.

Sedgwick · 05/08/2024 11:50

@Storyland yes thanks, back is pretty good, I am very relieved!

@poorpaws that would upset me too, do people have nothing better to do! Try to laugh it off and don’t let it ruin your day.

I haven’t followed the news for about 3 weeks now. I have two newspaper subscription on my phone and used to check them first thing in the morning. It’s a grim way to start the day actually and I don’t miss it. Enjoying taking a break from it and watching nature videos or comedy clips or sitting in the garden with my coffee instead.

My goal this week is to be alcohol free and maintain.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/08/2024 16:20

@poorpaws yes that would upset me too, and I would spend waste hours ruminating over it. Try not to let it upset you too much.

I've had a good couple of days. I haven't calorie counted, just got back onto the whole foods and focussed on that instead. I've resumed calorie counting today. I have walked the dog and I am going to bootcamp later, and hopefully staying to yoga afterwards as well. It's been ages since I did a proper yoga class but I really need it as I am desperate for a proper stretch out!

Back to work tomorrow 😢 I've prepped some bits for the week, chicken thighs and a roast chicken, that will do dinner for 2 days and leftovers to last me for lunches for the week. I've made some chia seed pots with 1tbsp chia and 100ml coconut milk, they are quite calorific but served with lots of fruit they are nice either as a pudding or as breakfast.

OP posts:
Storyland · 06/08/2024 07:26

@poorpaws thats horrible. Some people need to mind their own business. It's a lovely thing to feed the ducks don't let idiots put you off.

@Sedgwick the news is particularly grim at the moment. I need to stop reading it just before I go to bed.

@thenewaveragebear1983 hope your first day back at work goes well!

I ordered a sports bra last night and am hoping it will come today so I can run this evening. I've had a bit of a grazing incident after exercising in an inappropriate underwired bra 😳 Really stupid of me.

I also loaded up on salad stuff in the food shop so I am ready for a week of healthy packed lunches. Feeling positive about this week.

poorpaws · 06/08/2024 09:48

Hi everyone

I started my eleventy millionth re-start yesterday and it went well. Only one day in but it's a start.

@Storyland Ouch! I feel your pain with the grazing incident, hopefully your new sports bra is on its way.

@thenewaveragebear1983 You're definitely in a roll, both exercise and food are so good, I really do need to follow your lead.

I'm off on a dog walk (all three dogs are by the door waiting) and I will be feeding the ducks. I'm cross with myself with being so upset about it. If they want to check on what I feed they are welcome, I have done nothing wrong. They should speak to me about it instead of talking behind my back to other people.

Have a lovely day everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/08/2024 18:24

Good evening all,
My day has gone well so far except in true Tuesday fashion I can't home from the office really dehydrated, head frazzled and really tired. I ate 2 chicken thighs and done smoked salmon straight from the fridge, but I am now sat at dcs football really wanting my dinner and not really having enough calories left for anything! Plus my arms and legs are absolutely stiff and aching after 2 tough workouts, last nights bootcamp was really tough. I think I'll need a gentle walk with the dog this evening to loosen everything up.

OP posts:
Storyland · 07/08/2024 07:32

Morning all,

@poorpaws well done for keeping on feeding the ducks. And here's to a good new restart!

@thenewaveragebear1983 hope your limbs are recovering today!

I'm feeling really tired. Last two evenings have had commitments which meant that I haven't been able to begin to switch off and unwind until after 10pm. I'll need to watch out today because when I'm tired I turn to food and pop.

I've nothing on tonight except running - which weirdly I find helps me to relax now. So plan is get home, have a run, eat a small pasta dinner and then veg out watching gilmore girls

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/08/2024 21:32

Good evening. I found today hard, we didn't have much nice food in and I feel like I've eaten chicken every meal this week, all very meh and I craved something really tasty. Work was quite boring and long and then after work I had a horrible incident with my neighbours- we had a guy round to quote for some work and he needed to access from their side, I went round and the guy and his wife just absolutely laid into me (verbally) really passive aggressive, gaslighting, awful - made me cry! Even the trader was shocked and in the end he and I left. It's left me feeling really tearful and shaky, it was so unexpected.
Anyway- all would have been a perfect opportunity to eat loads of rubbish, and I did briefly contemplate some chocolate and/or wine, but no. I took my doggo for a long walk and cleared my head before my very uninspired dinner of chicken (again) and cherry tomatoes and avocado.

Must do shopping for interesting food tomorrow!

I want to do a run in the morning, I've had 2 rest days as my legs were just absolutely destroyed. I also have a follow up blood test which must be 6 months since going on iron tabs, I'm really interested to see the results and see if there's been any improvement. I certainly feel 100x better than I did a year ago.

Hello all...I have failed miserable on reset plan
Stated ok, lost 1 lb in first week then left for week at all inclusive hotel in Greece.
It's half way through the week and I am trying and compared to many people here , my eating is parsimonious but it's still more than normal.
And the cocktails....
I have done a couple of fitness classes but failed to go running possibly cus it's 37 degrees...though there is a gym with a/c.
Oh well...I'm trying I suppose!
I'm shocked by the fact the majority of people here are obese, not even just a bit chubby...the English are all really fat.
I don't want to get like that.
So I'm going to enjoy my holiday and try to be reasonable with food and then think about what to do when I'm back next week.
I'm beginning to think I will have to look further ahead and have a plan going into autumm...so thinking about running marathon in September and then thinking "right let's sort this out by Christmas"..
I'm.currentky the heaviest I've been for six yrs..

Storyland · 08/08/2024 07:18

@thenewaveragebear1983 that's horrible. I'm so sorry. Well done for getting out for a walk to clear your head. Hope today is a much better day and that you find some tasty food.

@Theredjellybean holidays are so tricky but it sounds like you are balancing good sense and fun. Hope you are having a fantastic time

Did my first run in a proper sports bra last night and it was a much better experience. No jiggling, no adjusting slipping straps. Should have got one ages ago.

There has been a lot of sweets in the office this week and I have been grazing on them quite a bit. Going to try and resist them today. Perils of office life!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/08/2024 10:08

@Theredjellybean enjoy your holiday! Family time is so precious, please don't spoil it by worrying about food.
