Hi everyone

@Theredjellybean good luck on the restart and I look forward to hearing your progress.

@Storyland hope you love your new job and it goes well today.

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done on the milestone victory 👏🏻. You have done brilliantly and are an inspiration to us all, such a brilliant result.

I've been in agony for three days, face swollen, metallic taste of 'bad' in my mouth, it's been so debilitating. I was up early this morning and it's gone! No pain, swelling down, nothing but a slight soreness where the pain was.

I rang the dentist anyway (cos I don't want to have to go through it again) and I'm seeing her at 12 today. I feel a fraud but it was very real, I wonder now if it was neuralgia, I just don't know.

My eating has been out of control because I just needed comfort. I don't regret it, I needed it but when this is sorted I'll be straight back to healthy eating.

Have a good Monday everyone.

Good evening,
@poorpaws how weird, maybe you had something trapped in there that dislodged itself?

I had a weird day today. Started with a late night last night, I woke up tired and was tired all day. I had a headache which is not like me, and I just felt totally wiped out. I think it's maybe a result of I've been feeling so good and energetic lately, maybe I've done too much? Anyway, I was tired, so tired at 3pm I just went and lay in bed, set my alarm and napped for 25 minutes during my working day because I just couldn't stay awake! Felt a bit better when I woke up. I have grazed a bit today, eaten quite a lot of fruit and nuts. I did go to bootcamp this evening in the pouring rain, but I was tired and I didn't push myself as hard today. I'm now sat here, I should probably eat some dinner but I'm not actually hungry and I have used all my calories up with snacks so..... I might just skip it.

It's my office day tomorrow, Tuesday is always a tricky day but to be honest the last few Tuesdays I've been pretty good. I will have a light breakfast of eggs, lunch is salad with roast chicken, and for dinner I'm really craving something spicy so I might make biryani with cauliflower rice..

Glad the toothache had lessend @poorpaws! And hope your headache stays away @thenewaveragebear1983

New job went pretty well yesterday. It's a lot to get used to. I took a salad for lunch and had a very simple tea of roasted cod, baby new potatoes and tomatoes. But I was shattered by 8pm and between work, food shop, cooking and washing up, I didn't have time or energy for exercise.

I'm hoping this evening will be a little easier. I can come straight home at 5 and I've already got the chicken going in the slow cooker. Also now I know the layout a bit more, I can go for a walk at lunch time.

Hope you all have a good day!

Superworm24 · 16/07/2024 10:33

@poorpawshow strange. What did the dentist say?

@storyland well done on starting the new job and sticking with the healthy eating!

I had a rubbish day yesterday. The baby is going through some sleep regression and woke me up hourly. He is a little congested so he's struggling to settle himself. I managed a walk at lunch time but felt utterly drained by dinner and couldn't be bothered to cook. So my husband got me a microwave curry and a bar of fruit and nut from the corner shop. I eat all of it! But he slept better last night and I'm back on it today. And I might look at getting some of those steam fresh type bags in for the next time we have a rough night. Any suggestions for healthier ready meals?

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/07/2024 16:34

Hi all. I've been eating more carrots recently and just bought a few bags from the supermarket today. I seem to recall having these in my diet to be a big help to lose weight previously, so giving it another go. Also a bit less faff on compared to other food prepping.

poorpaws · 16/07/2024 18:20

Hi everyone

Dentist update - far too much to go into great detail but the news was awful. I've had one tooth out, got to go back on the 12th for maybe another one (dentist isn't sure what's happening with that tooth) and then another one has to come out later in August.

There was so much bad news to take in I couldn't deal with it and her words went straight over my head. I just remember a lot of head shaking, and a lot of "this is worse than I thought", "this can't get any worse", "no wonder you were in so much pain" etc.

Anyway I have been comfort eating to a great degree and worrying and I'm actually scared about how much my dental bill will be (private dentist).

So, whilst I will stay here and read all the comments etc, I am not in the right frame of mind for healthy eating/diet etc. I'm going to have to deal with the fallout in September or whenever this is all sorted.

I will be cheering you all on from the sidelines.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/07/2024 20:17

Oh @poorpaws that sounds awful! Hopefully you won't be in pain anymore though. Fingers crossed it isn't too expensive to sort.

I had an ok day today, Tuesday is always my rest day and my office day. I'm on day 22 of my healthy no junk plan and I feel really good, although last night I did dream I was making a huge white bread cheese and salad sandwich thickly spread with mayo. 😋
I had salad for both lunch and dinner today, dinner was a very small one as I actually wasn't hungry but i wanted to eat with the dc. I'm feeling really energised, it's such a good feeling, and amazing really that it's just 3 weeks of good food that can do that.

Tomorrow I'm doing the weird cardio hiit strength class in the morning, then I have a running club session with my gym in the evening, which I'm really looking forward to as I have never really done a group run. It's a low heart rate session so it's a new technique for me as well. My food tomorrow will be more of the same as this week really. The only change is that i would like to have maybe slightly bigger meals but fewer snacks in between. I am finding myself eating quite a lot of fruit and maybe I should be adding more protein and fat to my meals instead.

Storyland · 17/07/2024 07:24

So sorry @poorpaws that's really tough, hopefully you will feel a lot better once it is sorted.

Well, I have officially lost a stone 🥳 I'm so glad to be at this point. I'm looking and feeling a lot better and I'm motivated to keep going.

Yesterday was a good day, cereal for breakfast, salad for lunch, small chicken roast for dinner. No snacking and a 3 mile run in the evening. Also just drank water or orange cordial.

A month ago I felt deprived if a day didn't include chocolate, coke, and crisps, now I can go days without eating either. I haven't cut out anything completely but I have tried to eat less of it and I think I have weaned myself.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/07/2024 20:44

Well done @Storyland that's amazing 🤩 did you do photos or measurements before you started? Do you have much more to go?

Busy day for me today, I did gym class this morning, walked the dog, then after work I did run club. It was a different way of running for me, I had to try hard to keep my heart rate low and within the zone. My urge was to go faster but actually I enjoyed the more leisurely pace and I am going to try to build it into my training, doing some low heart race miles in the middle of longer runs.

Food wise, I've been good again today, I haven't snacked much and instead have had bigger meals to keep me going. I'm hungry now though and my dinner is taking a long time....

Hi everyone

After a few days (well more than a few) of comfort eating and now in less pain I'm getting back on it tomorrow. Food shopping tomorrow morning, I will report back ...

Theredjellybean · 17/07/2024 22:04

Poorpaws...I'm watching from sides too as cannot restrict calories and marathon train.
I'm definitely bigger, and fatter but I just am thinking...sort it out in September.

Storyland · 18/07/2024 07:23

@thenewaveragebear1983 I didn't take any photos or measurements at the beginning. Although we went on holiday just before I started so I have some holiday pics. I don't really know what my end weight goal is, but I'd like to keep going. Still got a fairly large belly that I would like to reduce.

@Theredjellybean I can't imagine running a marathon. I'm sure the training will be doing you a lot of good even if it is meaning a weight loss right now.

I'm on day 4 of making myself a salad to take to work, which makes me feel very virtuous. Though yesterday, i did have a coke. I did a 20 min Joe Wicks workout last night with DD beside me claiming all the moves were too easy. 8 year olds have crazy energy. I could barely do half the moves.

Will be having leftover cottage pie for tea tonight and hope to get a 30 min row in.

Hope you all have a good day!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/07/2024 10:24

I did a little mid week weigh in today and I'm down another little half pound, now 148.6lbs. It's not massive losses but oh, it is SO NICE to see those 140's on the scales after such a long time.

I ran a fast 3kms this morning (3 km in 14min30) and a slower 2.5 to get back home. I'm feeling very healthy right now, this clean diet is doing me good, although it's all coming out in my skin (I have teenage spots!). It's my birthday tomorrow and I really don't want to break the spell, I have family coming round to celebrate on Saturday but I will do the food for that so I can keep that on track. Tomorrow dh and I both have the day off so we will go for a run in the morning together then go out for some lunch, and we have some nice steaks and salad for dinner. It's inevitable that at some point over this weekend I will end up having a glass of wine but I've just had a conversation with dh about cake because tbh I really am not that fussed and without the temptation there, even less so.

OP posts:
Theredjellybean · 18/07/2024 13:33

@thenewaveragebear1983 you are really in an excellent head space.
I braved the scales and it wasn't so bad at all...but I'm so flabby and back fat is bad.
I ran 25 kms today...it was awful. It was hot, I hit the wall at 22 km and had to sit down with head between knees.
I've never struggled like this before but I think aiming for 30 kms was optimistic as my DP and I had just been away for 4 days...and we haven't been alone, together without a teen or young adult child...for about 3 months.
It was a good time but I was possibly a bit ummm...tired😏

poorpaws · 18/07/2024 16:07

@Theredjellybean the only word I have is woohoo!

@thenewaveragebear1983 you are really cooking now, keep up the good work.

I went food shopping this morning, couldn't be bothered to make lunch so went to the cafe. I still can't be bothered with dinner so might be something quick and unhealthy.

I'm very tired and a bit miserable today so the dark chocolate will make an appearance tonight.

I might postpone my re-re-re (many times) -start until Monday.

Storyland · 19/07/2024 07:23

@thenewaveragebear1983 Happy Birthday! I think choosing a Birthday Wine over Birthday cake is a great way to celebrate.

@Theredjellybean you found the best reason to be tired for a run!

@poorpaws hope the dark chocolate had a restorative effect.

My shoulders and back are achey today. Think that is from the Joe Wicks session. Got work and then I'm going to try and walk 5 miles this evening. My summer Fridsy evening walks has been my favourite part of my exercise regime. Being outside, moving at a comfortable pace, sometimes joined by DH. It's a nice thing to look forward to.

poorpaws · 19/07/2024 08:54

@thenewaveragebear1983 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I hope you have a lovely day.

I believe it is the law that you don't slim, diet, eat healthily, exercise in this country and you wouldn't want to be arrested 😉

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/07/2024 21:11

Thank you all for your birthday wishes. I have thoroughly enjoyed the tropical temperatures and have basked like a lizard all day. We did do a short run, but it was too hot so we stopped at 7km and walked. Went for a lovely lunch, to be honest it was pretty healthy and I stuck to my no dairy/no bread. For dinner I have had a lovely steak, salad and mayo. Ds and I made 'monkey bark' which is basically dark chocolate, sliced banana, drizzled with peanut butter and almond butter and frozen into a slab which you slice up and it's super yummy. And I have had probably a bottle of Prosecco over a few hours. So a day of two halves, and very enjoyable.

It's so lovely to hear you had a happy birthday @thenewaveragebear1983 you deserved a lovely day.

Storyland · 20/07/2024 07:51

Your birthday @thenewaveragebear1983 sounds so lovely! I want to try monkey bark. Really glad you had a good day.

I got stuck in a lunch time meeting yesterday, came out starving and caved to an ASDA meal with zero healthy choices. My only restraint was to only drink half the bottle of Dr Pepper and put the other half in the fridge.

Did get in a 5 mile walk with DH in the evening which was lovely, if hot!

Today DD is invited to a birthday party at a play centre that also has amazing American Diner style food. So erm...tomorrow's weigh in may be interesting.

Storyland · 20/07/2024 16:57

I've ordered a hot dog, spiced fries and a black cherry milkshake. Whoops

Storyland · 21/07/2024 07:57

Official weekly weigh in for me and I've lost 1lb this week. It was nearly 2lbs but yesterday's black cherry milkshake put a stop to it.

Still, overall had a good week. Been keeping up with the exercise, eating more veg and generally feeling good. It's about 4 weeks to our holiday so want to stay on it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/07/2024 09:24

I'm not going to weigh in today as the last two days I have eaten quite a lot, although I am actually pleased as I didn't have any really 'off plan' foods. I haven't had any cals or desserts either, and amazingly I am still sugar free! I did drink yesterday though and Friday, I've probably had 1.5 bottles of wine over the two days. Not awful, but will probably show on the scales for a few days until any water retention goes. Today I've been focussed on getting back on track, walked the doggie and had cold chicken and potato salad for breakfast, loads of water and a black coffee.

I go on holiday on Friday so I'm going to be super good this week and really focus on my calories in as well as food quality to max results.

OP posts:
Storyland · 22/07/2024 07:19

I've also relaxed a bit this weekend. I submitted my final assignments for my Masters yesterday so opened a bottle of prosecco to celebrate.

But back to being focused today. Food shop after work so will restock salad supplies. Then a row. And a lunch time walk if it is not raining.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/07/2024 07:32

Good morning all, happy Monday.

I had a good day yesterday but I didn't stick to my calorie allowance. Just tried to get my head back into the whole foods game. Drank lots of water. Today I am going back to calorie counting, and actually aiming quite low. I haven't weighed in officially yet but I feel really full and bloated so I guess I'm retaining a lot of water still.

It's my non working day today, I'm just having a coffee and then will head out for a run. No gym tonight as dh won't be home. I am taking the dc to beefeater for unlimited breakfast (will probably not indulge myself, it depends how fresh it looks!) and to the barbers and then this afternoon to see the minions movie. I'm not tempted by movie treats so no issues there.i should be able to manage a fairly light day.

I'm going to weigh in tomorrow to check the impact of my birthday weekend. I am hoping it won't be too dramatic as I actually did restrain myself quite well, I didn't drink loads and I didn't eat any bread/cake/sugar or things like that. I think my gain will be largely due to salt intake and additional quantity of food overall.
