I need a fillling snack about 3 pm

Do you have any ideas?

I have breakfast at 7. Usually always eggs.

Lunch at work is at 12 noon. I’ll have something like a whole meal wrap with cream cheese, roast chicken or may be ham, some veg sticks and a protein yoghurt or kvarg/quark.

By 3 pm I’m getting hungry.

I don’t eat big portions, preferring to eat little and often.

At work, I can’t eat anything smelly and I can’t head off to the kitchen and make something in the microwave or toaster at 3 pm.

I did find grenade protein bars very filling but to be frank they are full of shit and expensive.

Nuts
Cuppa soup
mini babybell
Prunes

Or split your lunch in half and eat the other half later

JessieLongleg · 27/01/2024 09:09

Apples, yogurt, hummus

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 27/01/2024 09:11

Almonds. Lifesaver

Lottapianos · 27/01/2024 09:12

I always need a snack around the same time, and its usually one or two of:
Apple
Two tangerines
Banana
Pear
Small handful of nuts

dailyduel · 27/01/2024 09:17

Thank you for the ideas. I cannot put a banana in my mouth 🤮. Yoghurt is with lunch but might look at extra veg and hummus.

Fruit
vegetables
nuts
chia seed pudding

Little uppercase with Greek yoghurt, blueberries and a teaspoon of peanut butter. That's my go to snack anytime I'm peckish and it's filling and tasty.

BMIwoes · 27/01/2024 09:19

Tupperware not uppercase!

  • Beef jerky
  • Babybel/cheesestring/cube of cheddar
  • Hummus and carrot/sliced pepper
  • Ryvita or apple slices with peanut butter
  • Cottage cheese (Longley Farms full fat, no other CC is worth buying)
balzamico · 27/01/2024 09:33

I agree with pp about Longley farm cottage cheese, ditto their yoghurts.
I've seen a recipe today for baked oats in the air fryer that I might try, they look like flapjacks but clearly won't be..
My snack time is around 11 I simply cannot make it from breakfast to lunch even if I have eggs

Baked oats
100g oats
2 eggs
1 banana
Handful of blueberries cut in half
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp honey
Mix altogether, pop in the air fryer on 180c for 12 mins

Gar98 · 27/01/2024 09:59

what about a potato salad?

wwyd2021medicine · 27/01/2024 10:10

I have babybel and sugarsnaps or mangetout straight from the bag

CountFucula · 27/01/2024 10:10

cashews

theduchessofspork · 27/01/2024 10:11

Make an extra smaller portion of lunch?

Sometimes that can be easier than faffing about with nuts.

theduchessofspork · 27/01/2024 10:11

Gar98 · 27/01/2024 09:59

what about a potato salad?

That is delightfully random but a nice idea

doneandone · 27/01/2024 10:14

I have a light babybel (45 calories) and a pack of fridge raiders (43 calories). Not sure if the fridge raiders would be classed as smelly though.

Gar98 · 27/01/2024 12:26

I was initially thinking baked potato until you said no microwave 😂 but hellmans do a nice burger sauce that you could mix in to shuze it up a bit too haha

AhBiscuits · 27/01/2024 12:32

I have a couple of babybels if I need something to keep me going.

bryceQ · 27/01/2024 12:35

Yoghurt and nuts
Extra smaller portion of your lunch
Lebneh and carrot sticks

Carrot & pineapple muffins Sift together 140g self-raising flour, 85g wholemeal flour (reserving about 2 tbsp of the bran), ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda, 2 tsp ground cinnamon and a pinch salt. In another bowl, beat 150ml sunflower oil with 100g golden caster sugar. Add 200g mashed cooked carrots, 3 canned pineapple slices, cut into cubes, 2 tbsp pineapple juice from the can, 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix in 50g sunflower seeds. Fold dry mix into the wet one. Cut out a dozen 10cm squares of baking parchment and place in the holes of a muffin tin. Spoon mixture into tin, sprinkle with bran and a few sunflower seeds. Bake at 200C/ 180C fan/gas 6 for 20-25 mins or until a skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool (makes 12).

I'm thirding this. I sometimes make a hard boiled egg, potato salad with a bit of mustard and a small amount of low calorie mayo (veg and even lettuce can be added) and the combination of protein, fat and carbs literally is a life saver.

Also colslaw - again random I know!

Sounds very nice but an egg only has 6g of protein at best in it, so its very carb and fat heavy (nothing wrong with that by the way), it just rubs when people mention protein and set out a dish that has barely any it in

PortentOfDoom · 27/01/2024 13:06

I eat Quorn eggs

eddiemairswife · 27/01/2024 13:12

How about a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake?
