Looking for some Saxenda buddies

There are lots of threads for Wegovy or Ozempic, but is anyone out there still using Saxenda?

After 4 months of trying to get supplies, I bought one month of Wegovy, but since Christmas, I have been able to get Saxenda, so have switched to that.

Am looking for fellow saxers!

I just started Saxenda yesterday. I’m completely confused about it, tbh. My gp prescribed it, but just said ‘Come back in three months’, and I realise I have no idea how quickly or slowly to raise the dose — should I just go up as long as I feel ok? I didn’t notice any difference at all yesterday on the lower dose so I went up one today, and I definitely feel disinclined for food.

@CutPiece there should be instructions in the box, did you read them? Otherwise there is plenty of information online. I moved up a lot slower than was told to, I moved up with between each dose with plus 5 clicks. And then I stayed on 1.8 because when I went to 2.4, I started to itch and get aches and pains.

i am on day 6 but sticking to 0.6 for next week too as I had awful sude effects when I went higher last year (had to then stop for 6 months or so due to shortages). Have lost 2lb so far but haven’t really noticed that much of a decrease in appetite? Maybe I’m being impatient?

I also never had these great losses that I hear people talking about, but a loss is still a loss for me, and they all add up, don't they? 2lb off is great, well done!

I have been away for three weeks, I am a little bit anxious to see how I get on when I get home.... argh.... I haven't gone crazy and have made packed lunches almost every day but I have had a few drinks and more carbs than I would usually consider eating (especially in buffet situations).

I forgot to say that I inject at 7am every morning and I usually have quite a big lunch, starting with a massive salad (really! Not a Mumsnet salad), and then proteins and fats with a little bit of carbs (I try to follow Glucose goddess advice), and in the evening I usually want a small snack and not a big meal. This has been tricky as the person I am sharing an apartment with whilst I have been away is French and places a lot of value on the evening meal. She hasn't always appreciated me going to my room and not participating fully... but I have tried my best to handle it and keep nice relations.

I’m not really sure. I was able to eat more today than the last few days. I’m trying to adopt a wait and see approach

How have you got on over the last couple of days?

So I now have a cold or flu which is unrelated but I decided not to go up in dose when I am sick because I wouldn't be able to distinguish between symptoms and causes. So staying on the 0.6 for the moment.

Weight wise, I thought I had plateaued but had a watery BM which brought me down to 249.2 lb. Not sure if this loss counts but I will take it.

My energy is great during the day but I am totally zonked in the evenings.

My jeans that were digging in when I sat down are now comfortable.

So despite my feeling pretty krappy with the cold/flu symptoms, I'm feeling pretty positive about the weight loss.

(255.8 - 249.2 = 6.6lbs in 8 days)

Every loss is still a loss!!!

And yes for being zonked on an evening. I am
often in bed before Eastenders!!!

Weirdly, there’s nothing about dosing, despite extensive ‘how to inject yourself’ stuff, but I’ve found it elsewhere, thank you. I’ve already gone up to 1.2, but feel fine. No side effects. It is a revelation how the food-related chatter has just stopped dead. It’s very freeing.

justsaxy · 14/04/2024 10:35

I think it's going up one a week, but I went up 5 clicks. And I have stayed at 1.8, as it is working well. (Also am scared about going through it too quickly and not being able to get any more!)

Turns out that my cold/flu is COVID.

Kathabc · 15/04/2024 15:18

Taking Saxenda while having Covid feels a bit weird but I don't want to start from scratch again. Traditionally when I have lost weight or gained fitness in the past, I have had some sort of issue that forced me to take a break.

In the plus side, my weight loss is continuing with my morning weigh in at 247.2 lb

I hope that the covid isn't too bad! And yes for weight loss!

OP posts:

Not too bad. Though the cough and fatigue is pretty severe.

Sending positive vibes! I hope that you can rest. Do you feel any hunger? Soup might help your recovery.

Actually I am beginning to come out the other side. My hubby made a lovely vegetable soup.

Tomorrow I will start moving around. Hopefully Thursday back at work

CutPiece · 16/04/2024 19:55

Ridiculously, I haven’t weighed myself since I started Saxenda a week ago, so unless I do actually find the courage to stand on the scales, I won’t know if I’ve lost any weight!

@Kathabc, hope you’re recovering.

Kathabc · 16/04/2024 19:57

I think we're all in extremes. I weigh myself multiple times a day.

My sister took ozempic and she said that after a while she began to trust it to just work and it did. It freed her up from the obsession, lol

I think I need to bite the bullet and do it (or maybe figure out whether the scales still have working batteries in them as a start..)

I swear, though — the revelation so far for me is the quieting down of a usually hypervigilant bit of my brain.

justsaxy · 17/04/2024 19:41

Well, I had a great big poo this morning and am now officially less than I was when I went away!!!! So am feeling really happy about that.

Hurrah for 🥝 and 💩

Non123 · 17/04/2024 20:36

I am progressing very slowly in terms of dosage and using the click system. Will increase to 1.2 tomorrow and hope the food chatter decreases as I am still eating too much 😢

Kathabc · 17/04/2024 21:00

Are you counting your calories? How much is too much?

Kathabc · 18/04/2024 09:07

lol. The joy of a post poop weigh in.

I've still got COVID but I'm improving except for a dizziness or vertigo when I move. It's very frustrating.

My current weigh in is 246.2 so no further losses. lol but I haven't popped in 2 days so lol it could happen

I discovered the battery in my scales is dead, so I’ve now been taking Saxenda for nine days without any idea if I’ve lost weight. Just today (third day of 1.8) I seem to have appalling, vaguely sulphuric burps.

Kathabc · 20/04/2024 14:49

My COVID is beginning to run its course, though I still have a cough.

My husband had to travel for his English test so we're staying at a hotel with no scales in sight. I spent the morning in the pool with the kids.

I don't know if I am losing weight at the moment but I do like how much easier it is to make the "better" choices in terms of what I eat, how much I eat and why I eat.

I'm still finding that I plan my life around food but a lot of the food noise is gone.

justsaxy · 22/04/2024 22:26

@CutPiece argh!!! I have never had those, thank goodness. How are you getting on? I have started 1.8+5 recently and it seems to be working for me.

@Kathabc how are you feeling now?
