new thread here!

Bellabelly - my (overweight) mother is the WORST diet saboteur ever. She's always the one who has made me feel shite about my weight and yet she's the one who has bought me an easter egg (I rang her about a month ago and said please don't but she said she already had done) - I know it's up to me if I eat it or not but it doesn't help. Actually makes me really

YeahBut · 17/03/2008 20:06

I'm giving the weigh in a miss this week 'cos I've got pneumonia and am a bit all over the place with meds and things. Good luck everyone!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 17/03/2008 20:13

OH Yeahbut You poor thing! Hope you feel better soon.

Niecie · 17/03/2008 20:33

Oh you poor thing, Yeahbut. That sounds horrible.

I suppose it is only a tiny consolation but I bet you will have lost some weight by the time you do weigh in. I can't imagine you feel much like eating.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 17/03/2008 21:06

Ok, quick vote. Who thinks Niecie is a glass half full person?!

keepcalmandcarryon · 17/03/2008 22:01

Dances - how did that Molly cake turn out? Looked like a good recipe.

Only idea on sweet treats is a Cadbury's Fudge finger, as they have only 110 calories and are really sweet - for those garage forecourt moments when you are trying to persuade yourself not to buy the yard wide bar of Dairy Milk they have on a two for one offer.

Then again, I don't crave chocolate so much as cheese. Oh, and bread, all warm from the bread maker with a dense chewy crust....drool...

Am thinking of name changing to Soupdragon as have eaten so much of it lately.

bellabelly · 17/03/2008 23:40

DanceswithaMuffintop - you are so right to call it sabotage! my mother has been somewhat overweight ever since I can remember and has done soooooo many diets and has made so many comments about my own weight over the years (I've been slim, I've been too thin and I've been fat) - yet she buys cake, chocs, biscuits etc when she KNOWS I am dieting... My father - within about 2 weeks of my twins being born said "when are you going to shift all that extra weight?" GAH!!!! It's best for me not to think about how much they annoy me about food/weight because otherwise my head will explode with !!!

Yeahbut - hope you feel better soon!

PS It is now 11.40pm and I have not yet had any alcohol...

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 18/03/2008 08:36

Mmmmmmm....fudge....mmmmm

The Molly cake was...well...urm...very heavy! Not really very cakey, more like a mass of sticky dried fruit. I put in extra cinnamon which didn't help (bizarre because I LOVE cinnamon) However if you eat a little slice with loads of raspberries, it's filling and sweet enough to satisfy cravings! I'm going to make a ginger cake this week using fat free fromage frais instead of butter on another mnetters suggestion, I'll let you know how that goes

Bellabelly - Oh I feel your pain, that is exactly how my parents are (except not quite as obvious..your dad !) well my mum is.. about 6 months after I'd had dd I sat down next to my mum and she was staring at my stomach and said in incredulous tones ' is that your stomach or your jumper ?!' Charming. It's even more annoying because she's been overweight as long as I can remember (she's a terrible snacker on bisc etc between meals) - she likes to say she was slim before she had children so it's our fault

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 08:59

well i might have eaten a huge bowl of organic fairtrade chocolate ice cream last night but at least it was ethical ice cream!
and also i have signed up for the local gym and am having my induction tomorrow.

so i will be size 10 by next week obviously!

sagacious · 18/03/2008 09:24

I had pie and chips last night
And I bloody enjoyed it

{sorry}

I have definatley hit a wall

Am off to the dr's in a min to get my blood test results (glucose and cholesterol) reckon that sound put me on the straight and narrow

sagacious · 18/03/2008 09:26

What is with my typing?

definitely

should (not sound)

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 09:28

i had mine tested a a month or 2 back[just glucose] and my thyroisd function. was hoping it would come back saying it was underactive and i would dstart taking the tablets and the weight would drop off!
alas no-it's just me and my will power that is underactive!

bellabelly · 18/03/2008 10:12

I really like the idea that ethical ice cream doesn't count!

Sadly, having boasted that I'd had no alcohol last night, I was so pleased with myself that I poured myself a generous whisky as a nightcap... But still better than having an aperitif and wine with dinner too!

Was watching bbc breakfast this morning warning about people getting too addicted to the gym. So be on your guard folks!!!

keepcalmandcarryon · 18/03/2008 10:16

at mildmanneredbunny's underactive willpower gland

well done bella on the booze front - had a couple of glasses of white wine yesterday myself but otherwise was angelic. I'm RAVENOUS this morning so must have been pretty good yesterday.

Buda · 18/03/2008 10:16

Bad day.

Had 3 glasses of wine and half a packet of crisps. HUGE bowl of pasta for dinner and then finished DS's too.

Just eating a saintly apple and drinking a glass of water and am then off to gym and supermarket.

keepcalmandcarryon · 18/03/2008 10:17

x post bella!

Buda · 18/03/2008 10:19

Think I was born without 2 things - willpower and stomach muscles!

beansprout · 18/03/2008 14:59

Ok, cheated a bit and weighed myself again this morning. Only a lb more than last week, instead of 2. Still depressing though.

Ds1 keeps lifting my top and saying, "I love your fat tummy mummy".

Keep telling myself I am playing the long game here...

sagacious · 19/03/2008 10:22

Hi all
Well my cholesterol is too high (5.54) .. it should be under 5.

SO I am going to keep going with this healthy living malarkey.

I am 11 stone 11lb and I WANT TO WILL be 11 stone by my birthday in June.

I fear I will have to rediscover my willpower and stomach muscles (good subtitle for next weeks thread??)

piratecat · 19/03/2008 11:26

hi sag, hell o everyone, I am 11lb 7, and determined to be 10st 10 by end of june!!!

I keep reminding myslef of the woman I mentioned b4 on another threaed ( still can't find that thread) who has changed her eating over a long time, which is what I intend to do. ok its taken her a few yrs, but she has gone from size 22 to 12.

She said sometimes she would a few weeks to a month and not see any loss, and said that she had seen her body stopp, then kick start over and over BUT (my big butt!) it keeps coming off.

This is what I keep reminding myself.

if I want to lose weight, seriously, then my body will not cooperate if keep eating as I was.

here endeth the lesson

come on girls we can do it!!!!

right off to drink some water, is anyone else feelign tired out???

themildmanneredbunny · 19/03/2008 11:38

good morning everyone!

i have just been for my induction session at local gym!
wow!
i think i could get into it!

at the end he asked if i had any questions-didn't like to pipe up with 'how long before i look like cindy crawford?'!

i think this could inspire me with the food though. why put all that effort in if i'm going to ruin it with unhealthy food kind of thing.

it's a special session for people with bmi's of over 30 so i felt quite thin too!(horrible and shallow of me i know!)

{my bmi is over 30 too though!]

piratecat · 19/03/2008 19:17

I am weak, and silly. dd had a parcel sento from abroad containing easter goodies, which she opened this eve.

my ex inlwas sent it, and there was a lovely Lindt box of choccies, which are bloody gorgeous, and I scoffed about 8 of them in about 3 .6 mins.

why???

Shall i still have tea? I am well annoyed with myself, I totally screwed up today!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 20/03/2008 07:57

OH Pirate Cat I know what you mean. Mine was the chocolate biscuits at work. I deliberately sat the other end of the table from them at lunchtime then they caught me about 4 o'clockish when I was peckish - two gone before I even realised I was eating them
Onwards and upwards though, soup for lunch today I think! Chin up chicken

beansprout · 20/03/2008 08:23

It's horrible how a day of good work can feel trashed in a few minutes.

Let's all start again today.

piratecat · 20/03/2008 08:25

well i couldnt help it, i had to know if i had lost anyweight since monday, and a pound has gone, so back to where i was on week 3.

lol, those chocs were nice, and satisfied a bolt form the blue craving, and I have no interest in choc today!!
