I think my therapy session must have kicked something into gear as I've been much better for the last four days - feel like I've finally managed to break the cycle of constant crisps/biscuits/wine! Already noticing a big difference in my sleep, and I'm not feeling so overheated all the time which is a big relief.

It's my husband's birthday at the end of March and I would love to be feeling better in myself by then - if I could lose a few kilos that would be brilliant. Just need to stay focused!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2024 20:22

That’s wonderful @Mattietoes , glad you are feeling better.

I have had a good day, I’ve done 28k steps (walked the dog twice and ran 13kms) and my foods been really good, I’ve only had 7 syns, but dh has bought everyone chocolate including a bar of cadburys caramel for me. Not sure whether I actually want it or not- if I wanted it I’d have it I think but I don’t want to just eat it for the sake of it!

tomorrow I will be doing some batch cooking for the week- some soup and prep my overnight oats and some rice dishes for lunches. It really helps me if I’ve got it sorted for the week. I’ll do a roast and portion up some leftover meals as well, so lots in the freezer to keep me going.

Hope everyone’s doing ok, how are you feeling @poorpaws ?

Mattietoes · 17/02/2024 20:26

Blimey @thenewaveragebear1983 28k steps!!! That is so impressive, I've barely been getting 10k most days recently!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2024 20:38

@Mattietoes I blame this - before we got the dog I was getting 4-6k steps some days, I now average 14,000 a day!

Theredjellybean · 19/02/2024 07:42

Good morning everyone..
I have lost another 1 lb .
Having a tough time here but trying not to eat or drink my feelings.
How is everyone else's weeks going?
@poorpaws I hope you are resting and being kind to yourself

poorpaws · 19/02/2024 08:09

Hi everyone

@Theredjellybean I'm so sorry to hear times are hard for you, I hope you can dive into calm waters very soon.

Well done all of you on the no/less alcohol and weight loss, I'm so proud of you all.

I've had a week of mostly sleeping because I just can't shake this virus. I thought last Sunday was a turning point and again yesterday but it keeps coming back. I seem to feel a little better on Sundays and it could be an extra hour in bed in the morning or I could be allergic to DP who I don't see on a Sunday 😁. I'm going to tell him that this morning and see what he has to say.

Somehow through the gluttony I've lost half a pound. It's not much I know but I'll happily accept that little gift. I had lunch with dd yesterday (very rare) and the sticky toffee pudding with custard dessert was 982 calories. I ate mine and finished dds who eats like a tiny bird 🙈.

I'm hoping to start my diet if I feel well enough. I'm going food shopping today and I keep throwing salad stuff out so I'm buying stir fry ingredients and see how I go.

I haven't forgotten or abandoned you all and every day I'm hoping I feel well enough to get in touch without whining.

For those weighing in today 🤞

Well done @Theredjellybean and @poorpaws . Sorry you are having a tough time @Theredjellybean and hope you start to improve @poorpaws .

Weighed in and have gained a little. The last 3 weeks have been poor for me, haven’t stuck to it and overall gained about 4 lbs (not sure as I lost all my weight tracking info). Digging out my fast 800 book and my giving up alcohol book and refocusing. I have a wedding in 12 weeks so I am going to use that as a target. Exactly 21 lbs to lose so that’s 2 lbs a week. Just having dinner today which will be chicken (leftovers) stirfry.

Theredjellybean · 19/02/2024 21:41

@Sedgwick ..there is no shame in being up and down and that is an admirable goal.
@poorpaws ...take your time ..and excellent that despite everything half a pound is half a pound...
And you are not wining... come tell us anytime about how you are...

Sedgwick · 20/02/2024 10:36

Good day yesterday, did 30 mins on cross trainer, big stirfry (no carbs) and no alcohol. Slept really badly but I know it will take me a few days to adjust to no alcohol.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/02/2024 21:11

Well done @Sedgwick and @poorpaws

i’ve had a good couple of days, stuck to 6.5syns each day, lots of protein and veg and not had any pasta/rice/potato - I feel the carb cravings now though after 2 days. But I am going to bed soon and that’s another day ticked off. I feel quite optimistic for weigh in if I can keep the momentum going.

I’m feeling better generally, I think my iron tablets are starting to work and I’m feeling a bit more energy. I’m enjoying my PT sessions and feel stronger for doing some weight bearing/resistance training alongside cardio. I ran my benchmark run today and I’ve taken 33 seconds per km off since Jan 5th which (sorry for being a running wanker) is a sure sign my fitness is improving and my training is paying off a bit.

Anyway, keep on keeping on…. I am in the office tomorrow and wfh in the afternoon, I’ve already prepped my protein oats and not sure what I’ll have for lunch (probably salad and chicken thighs), and will do some meatballs and bolognese for dinner.

Sedgwick · 22/02/2024 10:41

I think this is week 3 of the 7/7 challenge, it’s taken me this long to get into it. As usual I am finding it fine now I am not drinking. I do think I should probably be on an AF thread rather than weight loss as one dictates the other for me! Fish, chickpeas, avocado salad tonight.

@thenewaveragebear1983 good luck for your weigh in today and good to hear your energy levels are improving.

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/02/2024 14:47

Hi all. Having a few days away. Trying to get a bit of walking in to balance a little excess alcohol use.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/02/2024 19:04

Well I maintained this week! Bloody maintained 😡 I have had such a good week, I really thought I would have a good week and grrrr - so I’m in a pissy mood now.

and I’m not even gonna eat loads of crap to make myself feel better because I know it won’t, I just need to keep on doing what I’m doing and it will show, but bloody hell it’s annoying

And even more so when the biggest losses in the group are from people who openly admit to not sticking to the plan. But anyway.

i shall simmer away in my rage, eat my delicious syn free dinner and drink lots of water….

Theredjellybean · 22/02/2024 21:35

@thenewaveragebear1983 ..they probably have a lot to lose...and thus they can cheat a bit...once they get more down to your range they'll have to be 200% on it...

@TalkToTheHand123 ...hello, lovely to see you...hope your having a nice break...it's been awful weather down here in SW...so hope your not in cornwall.

We are indeed on week 3...I've been okish...but today ate 13 lemon bonbons in the car... driving back from seeing dsd...needed to distract myself from feeling sad...and chewing my way through sweets helped...but then I felt quite sick !
I had already had 4 moam strip sweet thingies...

It didn't stop me eating beef pie with homemade very short short crust cheesy pastry top..

I will be running in the morning no matter the weather!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/02/2024 22:32

@Theredjellybean check the weather before you go out, this morning i foolishly saw clouds and dry and thought I was ok, ran in shorts… within ten minutes i was soaked to my skin in freezing rain, then the hailstones started and on my icy legs they were like little needles! Painful! Won’t make that mistake again!!

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/02/2024 23:18

@Theredjellybean Whitley bay, north east.

Weather had been ok. Lots of swimming and walking helping to limit damage. Going to review eating habits when I return as I need to cut out a few bad eating habits.

Sedgwick · 23/02/2024 10:36

@thenewaveragebear1983 that is so annoying, it’s probably a hormone thingy (I am not scientifically minded) and like @Theredjellybean says the cheaters probably have masses to lose.

Now that I’m not pleasantly squiffy half of the time I have had a revelation. I have lost a stone in the last 12 months or so and kept that off but it has been torturously up and down the same 7 lbs since. Consistency is where I am going wrong. I do a great 3 weeks and lose 7 lbs, then I drift off for 6 weeks and regain, back to it for 3 weeks and over and over again. I need to think longer term and stick to it. I know this is bleedin obvious but it’s clicked with me today.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2024 11:56

@Sedgwick yes I had that epiphany too a while ago. I stopped chasing the big losses (ah remember your 20’s when you could cut carbs for 3 days and lose 7lbs??) and decided that a pound a week every week is better. I do still wish for bumper losses (see earlier post!) but actually I reasoned that my boo-booing about not losing 4lbs in a week was preventing me losing 4lbs in a month, which is infinitely more sustainable and actually substantially more likely. And 1lb a week is 52lbs a year which is nearly 4 stone…..

endlesswashing · 23/02/2024 12:17

Hi everyone, sorry I dropped off the group. I'll do my best to keep up to date from now on as it is really motivating and nice to share tips and struggles.
I'm 3lbs down since mid January, not amazing but going in the right direction. Wine is definitely not helping me loose any weight so I'm loosing the wine to help save some calories stop late late snacking and get better sleep.

poorpaws · 23/02/2024 12:39

I've just written a long post pouring my heart out and admitting that I'm quite depressed and I've lost it.

@endlesswashing I was only thinking of you this morning, I'm so pleased you've come back.

I'll be back soon to reiterate what I've just said and lost but I've given myself a strong telling off, I'm climbing out of this black hole and I'm going to at least maintain here if I can't lose.

I'll be back soon but I can't type all that out again just now.

Love to you all.
