It's not a good day...I resorted to pizza.
Bugger
Also why do I weigh the same as four yrs ago but none of my favorite clothes fit ?
Having a moment (hour) of self loathing.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/01/2024 10:42

Aww @Theredjellybean , dust yourself down and hop back on.

I binged on a couple of ready meals and chicken burgers which my tummy didn't appreciate. Next time I think about a junk binge hopefully I will think more about my tummy. Back on the bowls of veg and veg soup now.

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/01/2024 22:46

I ate the last couple of southern fried chicken burgers tonight so trying to go cold turkey now. I'll get my coat.

Sedgwick · 18/01/2024 11:22

Plodding on here. Eating a big bag (230gr) of spinach with dinner most nights, it’s about 70 kc steamed in microwave. Booking myself in for a leg wax. I think it’s been over a decade since I had one.

@Theredjellybean I am in healthy bmi now but my waist is still 7 inches bigger than it should be according to nhs. It’s so strange how the fat just wants to sit there. My legs are slimmish but that’s not much use with fitting in my nice clothes, no chance at the moment. Is it around your middle where things aren’t fitting to too?

poorpaws · 18/01/2024 11:37

Just checking in but I'm still not a happy bunny.

I've got the kids on Friday night as dd is having a birthday drink with friends. I'm hoping to keep them entertained with dancing and colouring.

Molly is still very poorly. We've been back to the vets again to try and dry her out but this morning the diarrhoea was horrendous and took me half an hour to clean up with the kids at the kitchen door waiting for breakfast. She seems happy enough jn herself atm but as well as my overeating I'm not having any exercise as DP takes the other two whilst I look after Molly.

Dd is cooking tonight, chicken curry with naan bread. I MUST stop this downward spiral but I feel out of control.

I'll keep cheering you all on from the sidelines and I'll be back in two and a half weeks and counting ...

Oh @poorpaws , you are Having a tough time- try not to be too hard on yourself 🌺

so I finally got a gp appointment today, actually it was a nurse practitioner but…anyway, another professional, another diagnosis…. My thyroid tests have come back Normal, I still feel dreadful, so what next? Up my HRT?
“Have you ever had your ferritin checked? Oh I see your result a year ago was 90 and in July it was 35… that’s quite a big drop. Still in normal range….. but normal goes from 11 to over 300 so quite low…” . 🤔 so now They think it might be low ferritin causing my tiredness, palpitations, exhaustion, brain fog, hair loss….. I’m at my whits end with this now, every single time I see a new dr, they see something totally obvious that the last one has missed. So I’m having my ferritin checked next week.

Theredjellybean · 18/01/2024 22:55

@poorpaws , hang in there....
And repeat " this to will pass"
Try to carve out other decompress activities...a bath ? Even earlier nights ?
Ant little thing to stop spiralling into eating those feelings.
But you can regain control when you have your space back and try not to worry about what you can't control
@Sedgwick ...yes it's around my middle, my waist is disappearing and my boobs are bigger and I have back fat...all the traditional fat of menopausal woman

Sedgwick · 19/01/2024 12:28

@Theredjellybean hating the bigger boobs, what’s that about! Desperate to go down a cup size.

Steak, chickpeas, onions, mushrooms and spinach tonight. 10 grams dark chocolate and mock tails for pudding. One thing in my favour is I don’t mind eating the same meals over and over.

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/01/2024 16:29

@Theredjellybean you've just reminded me about early nights helping to lose weigt. It might just give me that extra motivation I need to speed up / get my weightloss going again.

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/01/2024 11:22

It didn't work. Another late night however I did manage to get to the gym and some exercise last night. It's day 3 of eating lots of veg and veg soup and feel a lot less bloated and a little slimmer already. I'm hoping to notice a drop from 14 and a half stone on the scales by the end of the month.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/01/2024 11:34

I think more sleep does help (and better quality sleep) but it’s a gradual change. I find if I exercise late, my sleep is awful. I’ve just looked at my Garmin stats, and the difference in my sleep score the last 7 days compared with the last 4 weeks average, is around 9 points, not loads but gone from 65 to 73. Last nights score was 81 but that’s due to length of time as well as I slept in til 8 today. that’s the impact of not drinking for me, my sleep quality is gradually improving.

There’s interesting info about sleep and insulin resistance, I have read that even one poor nights sleep impairs your insulin function which means 2 things- one, you’re tired and crave carbs, and 2 the body isn’t burning fat because insulin is all over the place and you can’t burn fat while there’s insulin in your bloodstream. It really does impact your weight loss.

Sedgwick · 20/01/2024 12:14

The correlation between sleep and weight loss definitely holds for me. DH is away and I have had two bad nights sleep in a row. Went to bed late both nights, brought my phone up and struggled to sleep. Regained a pound despite sticking to diet. I need to be in bed 9.30 ish and read kindle for a half hour or more. Feel ropey today.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/01/2024 12:35

I can’t recommend strongly enough getting some good earplugs and a weighted eye mask- it takes a while to get used to them but I wouldn’t be without mine now.

Sedgwick · 20/01/2024 12:43

@thenewaveragebear1983 I have silicon (I think) earplugs but my eye mask is just a fabric thing, it’s fine but would you share what you use? I have never heard of weighted ones.

Sedgwick · 20/01/2024 13:40

@thenewaveragebear1983 Thank you, I’ve ordered one.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2024 20:11

I’ve had a good weekend but I’ve gone waaaaay over on my syns and I’ve pretty much used my whole weeks worth already! Unfortunately there isn’t much room for any kind of extras is there? Dh bought chocolate yesterday and we shared a bar of dairy milk, then today he bought crème eggs and that’s pretty much taken me over the limit. Dh cooked last night and he did a totally off plan meal, which has also contributed. Otherwise, my actual food has been good. My meals are all planned for the rest of the week.

I’m feeling quite tired, I opted for a sleep instead of a run, I listened to my hypnosis and had an hours sleep which was lovely. I have the results of my ecg this week and a blood test for my iron levels on weds, then after that I am going to start taking some iron supplements to build myself up a bit. But in the interim, I’m just trying to be a bit kinder to myself and if that means nap instead of run, then so be it. were three weekends into dry January and I’m pretty confident we’ll make it to the end of Jan, dh is already planning his first glass of red in Feb, whereas I’m still thinking I’d like to do a bit longer, I think because I’m still feeling so tired!

Theredjellybean · 22/01/2024 09:53

I have had disaster.
Really up and down week...and gained my lost lbs and another one for good measure.
Really annoyed
I wasn't that bad and did 10 mile run and weights every day.
Oh well...so I am re setting and I am running a half marathon in 8 weeks time
So I'm going for realistic 4 lbs off by then
It's a feeble amount but I know as I run more I get really hungry, plus I'm away in hotel for work all this week which makes food tricky.
So I've decided to be realistic, lower expectations and achieve rather than set myself up to fail.
My new tag line is half per week until the half...
4 lbs ( plus a bit ) will get me back to my lowest pre Christmas weight when I felt good.
@poorpaws ...another week down...soon have your space back
@thenewaveragebear1983 ...I think we both need to be nicer to ourselves!

Theredjellybean · 22/01/2024 09:55

@thenewaveragebear1983 you can take iron supps without waiting for blood tests.
Also remember vit c for iron absorption.
I also do daily magnesium and vit d.
I have to take iron supps for medical reasons and find the liquid form more tolerable.

poorpaws · 22/01/2024 11:25

Hi everyone, a quick update.

I'm sure I said my eldest dog has been very poorly, we went back to the vets and she's slowly improving although is quite weak. Then my middle dog had the same type of illness but wasn't quite so ill and made a speedier recovery, although she's still not up to full health.

My dgs pushed me too far (long story) and he has refused to apologise so I'm ignoring him which has caused friction between me and dd so at present he is saying with his father until Wednesday evening when all hell might break loose.

I've had a sickness bug and have been in bed for two days and now dgd has it, and dd isn't feeling well. This morning is my first time out of bed and I'm exhausted but hoping to improve during the day.

We had no heating for one and a half days but dp managed to fix it.

The high winds have done some damage in the garden but I haven't the energy to do a full inspection.

So all in all it's been a bit of a week.

I hope everyone is ok. Every day that passes I am grateful for because I'll soon be back with you all. Keep on trying everyone.

@poorpaws you are having a tough start to the year, no wonder you are exhausted.

Feeling a bit blah and uninspired today, I need to get out in the fresh air and shake it off. 7 lbs down this year. Been up and down these same few pounds the last 4 months. Psychologically I need to break the pattern and lose another 7 lbs to get out of this Groundhog Day feeling.

Zebracat · 22/01/2024 13:02

Happy Monday ,everyone. @poorpaws sounds like you asserted yourself, good for you!
I am 99 kilos today, which is a loss of just over a pound from last week. I’m eating quite well, but some sugary snacks have crept in. Feel guilty because I havent swum today, May go and do some gardening in a bit, although it is still very windy…

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2024 18:14

@poorpaws I hope you feel better soon, and your family situation improves. And doggie of course

@Theredjellybean I’m going to take them as soon as they’ve done my bloods on weds morning. I just didn’t want to skew the results, I thought at least this will give a true reading of where I am. And yes, we definitely need to be kinder to ourselves.

I made lentil and ham soup after work, sitting down to a big bowl of that while i wait for dh and ds to get home from football. I’m super tired today and j’m going to go to bed early tonight.

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/01/2024 14:52

Hi all. How are our regulars and any newbies getting on so far this year?

The fridge is full at the moment, so lots to use up quickly. At least it's all healthy food now after polishing off a chinese ready meal.

It was nice but I'm craving another already so hopefully I can use the craving feeling to prevent me buying another one.

Sedgwick · 25/01/2024 16:42

Hi @TalkToTheHand123 , DH is away and only 19 year old son at home right now and he enjoys cooking his own meals.

Without the usual routine of cooking for me and DH I gave myself a little holiday. We had an electrician in fixing stuff and no electricity for a whole day which I think I used as an excuse. Out came the white wine, carby ready meals, and foods DH doesn’t eat I treated myself too. I am deliberately not listing as I don’t want to plant unhealthy cravings in anyone’s mind. After 4 or 5 days of this I feel so ill it’s not funny. It’s shocking how terrible I feel and my sleep is dreadful too. I am just drinking water today and getting back on my chickpeas and vegetables tomorrow. No booze. Forced myself out to do C25K week 7 and feel a bit better.

I think I need to check in here every day to keep myself on track. I will weigh tomorrow and see what the gain is.

Anyone else fall off the wagon?
