@poorpaws thank you. Honestly it’s not going well but reason is I’m not motivated right now due to a few events I have so don’t see the point in trying right now. I will start on Monday. Hope everyone else is doing well

Sedgwick · 17/11/2023 11:53

@imsofedup welcome, whats your plan starting Monday? We are all doing different things on here. Do you have something that has failed less than the others in the past? I gained 2.5 stone once I hit 50, a new bread maker (lockdown) and a lot of white wine. I am 56 now and finally loosing weight on my millionth attempt. Fast800 suits me but it’s a not for everyone.

imsofedup · 17/11/2023 13:50

@Sedgwick ive tried slim fast in past and shifted lots of weight but even on slim fast I have tendency to binge. I’m not sure yet. I might try just one meal replacement with slim fast then eat healthy for other 2. I’ve tried Atkins in the past but found it very restricting especially as I have 2 young kids whose diet is very carb heavy.

riotlady · 17/11/2023 20:50

Hello, is it ok to join in? I’m starting afresh in the morning and would really like to properly lose some weight. I’m 18 stone 4, so have quite a lot to lose. I’m on maternity leave at the moment- annoyingly I actually didn’t gain any weight while pregnant but have put on a stone since DS was born, I think because I’ve been comfort eating my way through coping with his health issues. I’m really aware of wanting to be healthier for my kids and don’t want to embarrass them as the fat mum!

Morning ladies.
I did not drink any wine last night! Hurrah! I did have a couple of G&Slim and tbh I would have preferred a wine but anyway. That means I am heading into the weekend with my Syns intact. Not only that but I stuck 100% to my food plan so whereas last Friday I had a ridiculous 48 Syns, last night I had 16. So I’m pleased with that.

today- it’s a bit grey and murky here. I will take pupper out for her little walk, and then get some jobs done. I have made a list of tiny 1 minute jobs I need to do, (there’s about 30 things on there!) and I like to chip away at a few of those. (Little things like I need to spray some WD40 on a squeaky hinge- exactly the kind of things we procrastinate on for months)
I’d like to run today but if I can’t I’m not too worried as I want to do a longer one tomorrow anyway.
breakfast will be eggs on toast, I’ve been really craving that recently, lunch probably leftover curry from last night with veg, and dinner - dh is cooking, we’re having gammon, pineapple and chips. All set for a good day.

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/11/2023 23:05

Hi all. I'm hoping to reduce my alcohol intake considerably over the next few weeks although time will tell!

I've continued to make big batches of veg with stock pots and have bowls of chips when I fall off the waggon to try stop me going too far off track. Seems to be working a little.

I seem to have overstretched today as feeling quite sore so hoping an early night will help recover.

Zebracat · 20/11/2023 13:47

97.3 today, sts. I’ll take it. I still feel I’m doing ok, eating and snacking under control, and activity has increased. Do seem to have winterised my menus though, and clearly roast dinner is more calories than salmon salad. Oh well.

poorpaws · 20/11/2023 21:47

Hi everyone

Sorry I'm so late reporting in but I've been cooking all day. I have a friend coming for lunch and DP and from the stress it's given me you'd think I was cooking for a huge banquet at Buckingham Palace.

I've gained .75 lb this week which isn't bad considering how much I've been eating out. I am becoming very aware though that every night I am now having granola bars and dipping into my birthday chocolate so that has to stop.

I hope you are all doing well and coping with autumnal meals instead of salads. Having said that I'm still on jacket potatoes, salad and some protein every night and I must swap that soon and get the slow cooker out.

I hope whenever your weigh day is this week the scales are kind to you.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2023 18:31

I haven’t had the best week so far. We ended up eating some chocolate on Sunday and my period arrived yesterday so I’ve just absolutely craved white toast dripping with butter, chocolate, biscuits and cake 😢
I had 2 cereal bars after work and now starving waiting for my dinner but dh is out at football with ds.

my weigh in in Thursday so I’m not holding out much hope for a dramatic weight loss, which is annoying as I was hoping for 1.5 and new numbers this week. tomorrow I’m just going to max out the veg and protein and drink gallons of water as damage limitation.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2023 20:43

so I ended up having a massive binge on biscuits and toast 😢 🤦‍♀️ and now I feel really crap and cross with myself.

Zebracat · 21/11/2023 22:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 . It’s ok. Don’t add to the burden with steaming dollops of self loathing. It’s a hiccup. Tomorrow is a new day.

TalkToTheHand123 · 21/11/2023 23:34

Aww @thenewaveragebear1983 , Rome wasn't built in a day. You just have to take the hit and start again.

When you eat the biscuits and toast, do they taste as good as you think? I started to notice my weakness foods weren't as nice as I thought. I also try remind myself of the disappointment of calorie consumption which seems to help me more likely to resist the next time.

I'm starting to plan my evening meals better and try having a cut off time also to help.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/11/2023 18:03

@TalkToTheHand123 no they taste greasy and horrible. To be honest it’s not about taste or enjoyment I don’t think, it’s about using food as “something else” and rational thinking doesn’t really come into it. It’s actually been a really long time since I had an actual binge. I did actually go back and add everything to my tracker in some attempt to be accountable.

I’ve had quite s good day today except i’m absolutely exhausted and I’m going out to dog training before I can eat anything.

poorpaws · 23/11/2023 08:08

Good morning

Well it's not going well post birthday week with unexpected invitations out and eating far too many left overs after cooking far too much food when friend came (both he and DP ate so much they both had stomach ache but they really enjoyed the food).

I haven't done any exercises for weeks since I pulled a muscle or whatever I did to my stomach. So all in all it's not going too well and I'm sure I'll see a gain on Monday <sigh>

I think it's time I got back into this. On Monday it's four weeks to Christmas Day so I should aim to lose 4 lbs but it's so difficult at this time of year. Most of the year I don't do very much socially having a very small family and more acquaintances than close friends (my closest friend lives 300 miles away so not very close). But leading up to Christmas there is always someone (neighbours mostly) who insist on going out/going to theirs/coming to mine/sampling their delicious mince pies etc so it's very difficult to stay on track without offending someone. Does anyone else find this at Christmas?

Anyway I'm waffling so I'll hop in the shower now. Have a good Thursday everyone. I know one of you weighs in on Thursday (I'm so sorry i can't remember who it is) but I hope the scales are kind.

Thank you! :)

I managed quite a good day yesterday so woke up feeling positive. Just having some chocolate + raspberry porridge for lunch, planning on tofu, veggies and rice for lunch then chicken fajitas for tea- I’m planning on just having one with a big side salad. I find tea the trickiest meal personally as I’m having to work round family meals rather than just cook steamed fish + veggies or whatever for myself.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2023 20:02

I lost 2.5lbs this week, woohoo! That takes me to 10.5lbs in 10 weeks and puts me back on track for my average of 1lb a week. Very pleased with that! Oh and I was slimmer of the week as well!
on my way back from group I went to get chippy tea for dh and the kids, and I was really going to have something but at the last minute I just thought nope, I’m not going to. I came home and made fried eggs, new potatoes and beans. Who am I???

I need to do a big shop tomorrow as it’s payday and loan some nice things for the weekend. This week of my cycle is the optimum weight loss week so I’m determined to stay on track now.

Sedgwick · 24/11/2023 10:51

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done!

I’ve been away for a wonderful mini break. Need to get back on my diet now. Trying to summon the enthusiasm.

poorpaws · 24/11/2023 14:13

@thenewaveragebear1983 woohoo indeed! That's really great news, very well done. ⭐️

Hi..sorry I have been MIA..
Fell of wagon
No real reason, just complacency and friends visiting...
I haven't been near scales for two weeks.
But can feel I've gained.
Though I did go shopping at the weekend and had to size down to a 10 in trousers in seasalt.
I'm going to weigh tomorrow but I'm sure I'll have gained .
So please can I have some collective will power .and I want to get to 70 kgs at Christmas
I think it will be a 1lb a week...maybe might need to be 1.5 lbs..
Well done to everyone who is sticking to it...

Sedgwick · 25/11/2023 10:59

@Theredjellybean just read your post and made myself get on the weighing scales. I’ve regained 4 lbs in a really short space of time. Why is it so easy to gain and so hard to lose? Not expecting an answer to that. 4 weeks to you know what, this year has whizzed by.

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/11/2023 13:14

Just managed to avoid cake and coke. Check me out 😊.

poorpaws · 27/11/2023 07:55

OMG I don't even know how to start this post! My week has been manic with friends visiting and going out to eat. I haven't had a week like this for years, it's been non-stop.

I braved the scales, I knew I'd gained but 4.5 lbs ON, really how can that be. Im no longer a healthy weight but overweight AGAIN. I stayed a healthy weight for just over a week! I'm so, so upset with myself. As far as I know I have one meal out planned this week so I'm on it! I have to get this off before Christmas. What a bad example I am.

It's gone quiet on here which is never a good sign, perhaps it's just the time of year.

I hope everyone is trying and no one follows my lead this week 😱
I'm hoping to report a good loss next Monday.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 27/11/2023 07:57

@TalkToTheHand123 well done you, I never avoid cake but with this weeks gain I clearly should. Very good work, keep it up😁 (and teach me how).

OP posts:
Theredjellybean · 27/11/2023 08:34

@poorpaws and @Sedgwick ..sort of glad I wasn't the only one ...
Scales showed 4lb gain here too.
So I have had two good days...
Onwards
Absolutely going to get it off by Christmas even with rather a lot of socialising...
We can do this...
