In a quandry about weigh-in. What would you do ?

This is my dilemma. My usual day for w/w weigh-in is Thursday. But as I am not in the office thursday I intended to go a day early to a weigh-in on weds.

However tonight I am due to go out for a chinese meal with a load of other mums from school for a xmas do. I am not driving so will probably have a (ahem) couple of glasses of wine. Which means I will probably throw caution to the wind and eat enough for everyone.

I could go to a weigh-in today instead. What would you do ? Will I be heavier today or tomorrow ???

I would go tomorrow, which is closer to your usual weigh-in day. Chances are if you go today then you'll eat even more than you otherwise would tonight. Set yourself a few simple rules for tonight - nothing fried for example. If the meal is going to make you put on weight then it would show up on next weeks weigh-in anyway, so you might as well bite the bullet and go tomorrow.

mears · 14/12/2004 10:47

It will not show as weight gain for a few days in my experience. Go tomorrow.

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 10:59

and there is no weigh-in next week or week after (EEeeekkk) because of Xmas. So (in theory) I will have time to work it all off again.

Actually knowing I'm going tomorrow just may make me choose better options tonight. Just wish it wasn't chinese though. Any other restaurant and I would choose what I want. But this way we will all be choosing loads of dishes to share and even worse, it is an "eat all you want for £x" type of meal. Nightmare.

Give me good chinese suggestions please ....

chicken chow mein is a weightwatcher recommendation.

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 11:14

ahh - i like chicken chow mein- thanks mears. will order two servings and not let anyone else near it

is the duck that goes inside pancakes ok (without the pancakes)? Maybe I can eat the duck and the veg that you put in the pancakes. Love that dipped in the hoi sin sauce.

I think duck is pretty fattening but not sure. However, if I was you I would have what I liked and worry about it later. It is nearly Christmas after all. I love crispy duck pancakes too.

BRANdybutter · 14/12/2004 11:32

MEARS , stop encouraging her. It's 10 days to Christmas, Kaysleighbells should hold on a bit longer. I've been dying to stuff my face since the weekend, I don't see why others should eat, drink and be merry while I'm still being a misery-guts .

Have boiled rice instead of fried, dishes made with rice noodles are usually pretty low in points too. Things that are stir-fried rather than deep fried or roasted, so not duck (unless you don't eat the skin, which is the best bit). Chicken and cashewsnuts, or beef in black bean sauce are usually pretty safe.

eat something first .. something big and filling .. then stick to alcohol

.... and maybe just a touch of rice

....ahh go on a dim sum won't hurt...oh and that duck pancake looks nice.....well chicken in black bean sauce can't be so bad it is chicekn after all .....

... yeah, I see what you mean

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 13:41

oh migod - that's me to a tee LOL

BRANdybutter · 14/12/2004 13:49

There's usually a steamed fish dish, if you like fish. In fact anything steamed is good.

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 13:57

Chicken Chow Mein I can cope with. Steamed fish ? No, no, no.

What I really want is chilli beef

OP posts:
BRANdybutter · 14/12/2004 14:00

Is chili beef the one that's coated in something and then deep fried? In which case you can't have it. Well, OK then, just the one piece.

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 14:02

Yup, that's the one.

If someone else orders eat and I pick at it off their plate then there are no points, right ?!

OP posts:
Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 14:02

"orders it"

OP posts:
BRANdybutter · 14/12/2004 14:03

Just remember only 1 piece - I'll be watching you . You don't know what I look like, I could be anybody in the restaurant .

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 14:09

I will be checking out all the tables for someone eating boiled rice and steamed fish

OP posts:
BRANdybutter · 14/12/2004 14:43

I'll be in disguise, my steamed fish will will have a camoflage covering of duck.

Kaysleighbells · 14/12/2004 15:39

Just got home. Probably had about 847 points tonight. Will have put on about a stone at weigh-in tomorrow

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 15/12/2004 09:41

I think that sometimes a big blow-out on calories actually helps you lose weight quicker

Kaysleighbells · 15/12/2004 11:02

what a great theory - i love it

OP posts:
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 19:26

Something to do with kick-starting your metabolism. It does sometimes happen if you have been really good for weeks, and the weight-loss has slowed down. Not something to rely on though Kaysleighbells Good luck for tomorrow...wish me the same

Kaysleighbells · 15/12/2004 21:46

Can I just say that my weigh in today totally disproves TheHollyAndTheTwigletts theory

The annoying thing is that I know by tomorrow or friday I would have lost it again, but now I have put on my motivation has completely gone.

OP posts:
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 22:16

So, just how bad was it? Bear in mund that, if you ate loads the night before, it will still weigh in your body the next day!

Please send skinny vibes my way for tomorrow anyway...
