In a quandry about weigh-in. What would you do ?

This is my dilemma. My usual day for w/w weigh-in is Thursday. But as I am not in the office thursday I intended to go a day early to a weigh-in on weds.

However tonight I am due to go out for a chinese meal with a load of other mums from school for a xmas do. I am not driving so will probably have a (ahem) couple of glasses of wine. Which means I will probably throw caution to the wind and eat enough for everyone.

I could go to a weigh-in today instead. What would you do ? Will I be heavier today or tomorrow ???

Have loved this post, will SO be doing this tomorrow night.

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 22:29

Never mind Kayleigh. If it goes on quickly, it comes off quickly too. If you stick to the diet this week, you will lose the (whispers) 3 pounds, and more.

Keep going luvvie, don't lose the will power now.

Kaysleighbells · 15/12/2004 22:32

Thanks OhComeLetUsADiorHim . I'll try.

It's so bloody hard though....

It's the MSG in a Chinese, it makes you retain a lot of water and gives you a temporary weight gain - don't let it ruin your motivation.

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 15/12/2004 22:35

I know, you're preaching to the converted, so to speak. Come on here if you are tempted. I still have a yoghurt and grapes to eat today, but have been on here so long that it is not worth eating them now! MN is officially good for ones diet

Demented · 15/12/2004 22:39

Didn't want to say anything at the time as everyone else was being so positive but I am always bagged up after a chinese/indian and are carrying a few extra lbs in the morning, usually the next day they have gone through natural means.

Kaysleighbells · 15/12/2004 22:48

You should have spoken up Demented. I probably wouldn't have dome anything different, but then you would have had the chance to say I told you so"

I read your post and the replies saying you'll be fine, it won't show and thought it was maybe just me, sluggish bowels or something!

Nevermind you've got a couple of weeks to get back on track again, good for you keeping on going, I bowed out a couple of weeks ago and have put on a few little lbs here and there , will be back with a vengence in January!

Kaysleighbells · 15/12/2004 22:57

LOL @sluggish bowels. Think i'll use that one at my next weigh-in

I will be waddling along at lunchtime today after two Mumsnetters and then a pile of colleagues made me eat big lunches on two separate days this week Kayleigh. I feel like one large sluggish intestine today
Bad luck, I'll share my shame here at lunchtime. (And I've got two more dinners this week too )

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 16/12/2004 12:09

I wish I had the MSG/day after excuse.... I thought I'd got away with it after three dinners, a lunch and a Christmas Party last week only left me only one pound up. Was feeling quite virtuous at having stuck to drinking water throughout... but then I've somehow managed to gain another SEVEN pounds this week while I've been good about eating, although have been far too busy at work to get to the gym much . So that's the last two months of losses wiped out just like that - and we haven't even got to Christmas yet. Aaargh!

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 16/12/2004 12:11

Oh - and my spreadsheet which predicts when I'll hit target, based on averages from the last 4 weeks, now says "NEVER"!

BRANdybutter · 16/12/2004 12:48

LSG, my heart goes out to you - it's such a difficult time of year isn't it. Are you going to keep going, or just give up and start again after Christmas?

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 16/12/2004 13:12

Bran - I have to keep going because I daren't give up now. If that can happen when I'm trying to be (reasonably!) good, then giving up completely for a couple of weeks could put me right back where I started by New Year and I don't think I'd ever find the motivation to start all over again.

Hopefully it's just a blip caused by eating out and not being able to avoid wheat completely, and being stricter about it for a couple of weeks will get it out of my system, but it's pretty depressing none the less.

It's one thing avoiding wheat at home, but somehow I can't quite get myself to accept yet that it's as likely as not that there will be nothing I can eat at any social events, without it having that effect on me.

One day last week we had a lunch in the office - sandwiches, quiche, prawns and chicken in breadcrumbs, profiteroles and cream cakes - every single item on the table had wheat in it! I ended up having just the salad garnish from the sandwich plates, and picking the prawns out from some of the sandwiches.

Kaysleighbells · 16/12/2004 16:34

LSG I know what you mean about giving up. I may well put on more weight over xmas, but it would be nothing to the amount i would put on if I just gave up, or let myself think I was "having a break" from my diet.

Marina, how did it go ??????????

OP posts:
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 16/12/2004 19:17

I lost 2 lbs . So now I am under 10st, and have lost 29.5 lbs!!!

Sorry, brag over. How is everyone else doing?

BRANdybutter · 17/12/2004 17:15

Well done Dior, I'm looking forward to the 2 stone mark myself, although it could be some time away as I think I will be back-sliding a little over Christmas.

What a pain about the wheat LSG, I think I would find it very difficult indeed to cope with a wheat-free diet. I hope things get easier for you after the festive season. I am having a chocolate problem at the moment, I did give it up completely but have started eating it again this past week and now I'm craving it all the time. After Christmas and a visit to my Swiss friend in January which will definitely feature chocolate in a BIG way I will have to give it up again. The last time I had withdrawal symptoms for 3 weeks and I was horribly bad tempered.

Chicken chow mein!!! deff not good choice, lots of oil etc. Chicken chop suey is the WW recomended as it is fairly low in points.
