Breakfast 1 slice of toast with a tiny bit of jam and a banana

Lunch -I small jacket potato (from Tesco's bag of 4 with 1 small Tin of beans

2 Bourbon biscuits (as I felt ridiculously shaky and light headed )
A few blueberries

And tea will be chicken and something say 500 calories

I'm 5ft 7 and weigh 11 stone 10
37 and want to get down to 10 stone by Christmas if I can.

Limiting fruit is your diet is frankly moronic and if you want to do it that's your choice but it's hardly a good or responsible recommendation

I do not limit fruit in my diet, but SOME fruit I do.

So bananas, pineapple and mango I would only have on occasion.

MSNuserof99 · 18/07/2023 20:28

You said no fizzy drinks (I think) but yes to cocktails. What else do you drink during the day? Hot drinks (if so milk/sugar?) cold drinks (anything creeping in like milkshakes, juices, smoothies?) all can make a huge difference.

Well yes but maybe if you learn about how sugar in fruit works (hint: fibre) you'll realise "moderating" any fruits is quite silly

Colinfromaccounts · 18/07/2023 20:29

Some of the advice on this thread is absolutely insane and I wouldn’t advise anyone listen to it. Carbs are fine. Fruit is fine

Dacadactyl · 18/07/2023 20:30

Well until i start getting fat, I'll continue with my current approach.

rumnraisinrocks · 18/07/2023 20:31

I think what you ate today is about 1200 calories, and that was based on 40g jam, 230g jacket, 200g chicken and 200g new potatoes.

So could actually be less than 1200 if those things were smaller.

Definitely not too much at 5 foot 7!

Miajk · 18/07/2023 20:31

OP eat what you like. No one gets fat from eating too much fruit.

Eat what you like, just be mindful and check in with yourself. If youre always full, never get hungry at all etc you're probably eating too much.

Move a little, even if it's just a nice walk or some stretching

Ditch the booze (mostly), your body and mind will thank you

Enjoy life and enjoy beautiful food. I've lost 60lbs like this and I will never go on diets again or listen to the disordered restrictive advice on MN.

MenArentMindReaders · 18/07/2023 20:34

Seems like too many calories to me but not way off. I'd cut the banana and half the tin of beans.

Carbs make me hungry, incredibly hungry. I've never been able to maintain on a similar diet to OP's. So it's protein, fat and vegetables for me 99% of the time. Limited fruit, no bread. Bread and fruit also trigger my IBS and make me feel like shit.

Are people allowed to eat healthy food which meets their needs and suggest it to other people if we want? For example I just ate chicken, air-fried broccoli with garlic and butter. Home-made, tastes good, doesn't make me want to chew my own arm off in 20 minutes. I don't need a banana.

MadKittenWoman · 18/07/2023 20:35

Too much sugar / carbs. Up your protein and good fats.

Exactly this. She’s not eating too many carbs. Could just add more protein.

OP I’m 5ft 8in, in April I was 11 stone 12lb. Today I’m 11 stone. My goal is 10 stone 7lb.

I have a disability so can’t currently exercise except 30 min walk every other day. I have been doing this and 1400 kcals a day. I also sleep well (9 hours a night) and drink 2l water.

My typical weekly meal plan is as follows:

MT 0% greek yoghurt berries mixed seeds tsp honey + Chicken breast 1/2 avocado 2 seeded bagel thins rocket pickled red onions + Prawns stir fry veg brown rice

WT Banana blueberry protein powder chia seed oat milk smoothie + M&S santini salad with mackerel and olive oil dressing + Pitta pizzas with low fat cheddar chicken and veg

FS Porridge oat milk peanut butter protein powder + Steak chips veg peppercorn sauce + 2 gin slimline tonics

S Bacon egg tomatoes mushrooms beans + Roast dinner (chicken or pork or beef) + Popcorn

Snacks
Every morning - oat milk decaf latte
Every afternoon - a handful of nuts, 2 squares dark choc and a herbal tea

I think the key thing is you have to like what you eat and it has to satiate you. If you feel constantly hungry or don't like what you eat you'll end up making decisions that you regret later in the moment.

I am definitely not a low carber by any stretch of the imagination. But I do find it really useful to include either yogurt or an egg with my breakfast, and ideally some sort of protein with lunch (TBF baked beans roots probably do but I can't eat those).

It sounds like you may well be consuming a lot of calories when you eat out - could you arrange nice things where you can enjoy yourself but cut down from 8 cocktails to 2? Or have a big blow out meal with loads of drinks slightly less frequently? I can lose weight eating out once a week ish, and that can be a proper meal out without desperately trying to order the lowest calorie meal on three menu. But if it's more than once a week or if I drink a Lot (which then means you sleep badly and then means you're hungover and hangovers and lack of sleep both tend to lead to more eating) then it gets hard to lose weight. But I don't want to be not going to things so I tend to balance it by not drinking loads and trying mainly to go once a week or really consider portion size if more than once.

I'm more overweight than you but currently losing weight steadily and without misery.

So I’m 5ft 7 and at the mo I’m on a weight loss period as im going on hols so always loose weight before I go so I can eat what I want whilst im away and dont end up having loads to loose loads of weight when I get back

on days I work out (generally resistance) I eat more carbs but less fat
on days I don’t work out I eat low carb higher fat

so for instance today I worked out so I had a protein shake for breakfast after I worked out

for lunch I had half a pack of merchant Jamaican grains mixed with some roasted sweet potato, spring onion, cherry toms, coriander and a bit of feta cheese

For dinner I had homemade turkey spaghetti Bol with whole meal spaghetti and a side of broccoli

snacks were apple with some low fat cottage cheese

tomorrow when I don’t work out I’ll have

small apple chopped with cinnamon, dollop of peanut butter and Greek yogurt

lunch will be chopped mushrooms/peppers/cherry toms cooked in a pan with a load of spinach, crack egg over then sprinkling of grated cheese

dinner will be Nando spiced chicken breast with a large side salad

I follow similar all week for last 4 weeks and I’m down to 9st 11.

bakewellbride · 18/07/2023 21:01

I'm almost the same height as you and 8.5 stone. Today I ate:

Granola with yoghurt and added nuts and seeds, flax seeds and half a banana

Jacket potato with homemade bean and veg sauce, avocado and cream cheese

A higgidy pie thing with cucumber, tomatoes and carrot sticks.

All washed down with 2 litres of water and about 5 coffees because dd is a crap sleeper!

I'm teetotal and a vegetarian. I'm careful to eat healthily and never snack except sometimes fruit. About once a week I might have a bit of chocolate or if I'm out I eat whatever. I always start the day with hot lemon water and exercise daily by walking everywhere and going for runs twice a week. I've honestly never 'dieted', worried about calories or anything like that. Just try to eat healthily and look after myself.

Have you tried overnight oats for breakfast? Lots of good YouTube recipes. Good luck!

bakewellbride · 18/07/2023 21:02

Also forgot to add but butter is so good for protein. I had peanut butter on my banana this morning

bakewellbride · 18/07/2023 21:02

Nut!

ohaaahh · 18/07/2023 21:07

I carry my weight on my stomach
I've added a pic to show what I mean
This is me today
It's only really my stomach that I don't like

Good luck op. Whatever you decide to do!

mrssunshinexxx · 18/07/2023 21:46

I'd swap the biscuits for boiled egg/ carrot and hummus/ apple and peanut butter / protein flapjack/ some proper dark chocolate. Breakfast may be better as eggs or porridge

mrssunshinexxx · 18/07/2023 21:46

2-3L of water too

WilkinsonM · 18/07/2023 21:50

Ignore almost everything people are posting on here criticising your diet etc. you need to know how many calories you burn and how many you are consuming. Nobody can answer your question without that information.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 18/07/2023 21:55

musicalgymball · 18/07/2023 20:25

You need more fruit and vegetables. Try some greens on your jacket potato. There are enough carbs but not enough nutrients. Eventually you'll get sick eating like that.

Don't be so silly. She is eating a normal balanced diet - of course she won't get sick eating like this .

8 Pornstar martinis for brunch is a different matter though !

This to me would be a low carb diet. I wouldn't be abl to lose weight of I had bread or potatoes with every meal like OP does
