New thread.

Hopefully with added kicks up the backside ...

Yes please!

MightyMoosh · 09/02/2008 17:27

oh bugger forgot to weigh meself again. maybe subconsciously hiding from the truth? maybe forgetful? who knows.

WigWamBam · 09/02/2008 17:51

Exactly what I need, Jackie.

Was trying some trousers on in Evans this morning, and I could have cried at how bloody disgusting my reflection in the mirror looked when I took my trousers off to try the new ones on.

And yet still I can't knuckle down to it ... Christmas knocked me out of kilter and I can't get back into my stride again.

WWB - go easy on yourself. Your body's been through a lot in the last few weeks. It's OK for it to take a while to get back to losing weight.

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 11:16

I agree with Jackie - you must give yourself a chance to recover from your surgery and all the annoyance that went on beforehand/ [stern look].

I was 34 yesterday. And spent the day on the sofa hacking up green goo from my chest. I am stating this on every thread I can think of in order to garner as much sympathy as possible

On the plus side, I don't have much of an appetite atm. Had no cake or wine yesterday and was completely unbothered (yes I know that's not a word )

WigWamBam · 11/02/2008 14:42

Oh, I know.

But looking at myself in the mirror was repulsive.

I don't keep mirrors at home and it's always a shock when I see myself full-length - although it shouldn't be. I look in the mirror and there's bloody Tweedle Dum looking back at me!

. Poor you - maybe you can just postpone it all till you're feeling better.

Know what you mean about the mirrors being a shock, WWB - it's the catching a glance of yourself unawares that's the main problem, I find.

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 14:57

The mirrors and lighting in shops are generally shocking I find. I have never understood why, I usually get put off buying clothes when I see myself in them

Was taken shopping by dh on Saturday and came back with a belt and a pair of shoes - no changing rooms entered but I still had nice new stuff

JackieNo · 11/02/2008 15:17

Yes - shoes can be great, aren't they. The other problem, especially in the winter, is that you need to wear a thick coat to be outside, but it's boiling hot in the shops, so I always look extra red-faced and sweaty when I go to try something on.

Talking of red faced - I'm off for a run now, which does make me go an attractive shade of puce

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 15:20

Oh yes and I haven't shaved my pits or legs (TMI probably) which doesn't do much for the overall picture either

Enjoy your run Jackie

Sorry Kewcumber no slinking or being inconspicuous on this thread, we are Big MoFo's remember?

Littlefish · 11/02/2008 15:49

Oh YOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO

Come back and talk to us!!!

I hate mirrors too, but not the ones in my house.

I have a very kind mirror in my house in which I think I always look great. It's only when I get outside the house, and see my reflection in a shop window that I realise that I'm twice the size of everyone else.

Whenever I'm out with DH, I spend my time saying "am I as big as her?" "is she much smaller than me?" etc. I honestly don't have a real sense of what size I am.

Does anyone else find this?

Kewcumber · 11/02/2008 15:51

KC STOMPS BACK IN DEFIANTLY

TigerFeet · 11/02/2008 15:57

oooh KC didn't see you there

Littlefish I can relate to that - I forget how big I am all the time. In my head I am the size I was when I got married - a 12stone 16-18. Not tiny, but a vast improvement on where I am now. I catch an inadvertant glimpse of myself and feel really shitty tbh. I should take more care of myself really, I usually have messy hair and no makeup and usually look really washed out too

Kewcumber · 11/02/2008 16:03

my problem is that at home I on;y look in mirrors that show my head only. I must have a very small head.

Littlefish · 11/02/2008 16:08

I am a pin head.

colditz · 11/02/2008 16:14

I have a tiny head too. And small features.

Unfortunatly I have hulking shoulders that make me look odd on my 5'3 frame!

I am doing well and am really happy - I think that my life is lowest on stress it's been since I was a kid - I have a low-but-stable income, and nobody to argue with or be horrible to me, I'm happy and not wanting to comfort eat too much.

I am sitting in my buttoned up skinny jeans (that I haven't worn for 2 years) and feeling really quite proud of myself.

Although I did go absolutely NUTS on chips shop chips on thursday. And I mean nuts. I reckon I put away a full pound in weight of chips, plus 2 eggs, and some bread ... but I was ill, and due on. It was too much to bear, to eat salad while my visitors ate chips.

Kewcumber · 11/02/2008 16:32

did you weigh your chips!?

JackieNo · 11/02/2008 16:35

Well hello there Kewcumber . Nice to see you.

Had a good run, thanks TigerFeet. Often, they're just very hard work and no good feelings, but this one went OK. So I'm feeling good post-shower. Still looking very puce though.

Know what you mean about the shop windows. I don't have much idea of my size either - on the one hand in my head I'm Audrey Hepburn, or similar, and on the other I know I'm enormous, and the reality is somewhere in between, but I don't know where.

colditz · 11/02/2008 16:36

no, I just ate them.

JackieNo · 11/02/2008 16:37

And well done colditz - I'm glad you're feeling positive about it all, and at peace. And lol at the chips.

JackieNo · 11/02/2008 16:42

Hey TigerFeet - you can practise your Masterchef menu on us anytime, you know.
