I'm not the OP but I just accidentally took the last post on thread 3 and some people including me were in the middle of conversations! Hope you can find your way over here!

I've had to up my sertraline post sleeve. Not sure if it's absorption or if I was under-dosing before and blaming the residual low mood and anxiety on my weight issues. I'm up to 100mg and feeling ok so far on that dose.

RGinaPhalange · 03/05/2023 16:04

@ThePastKnocks

I'm 2 weeks post op after a laparoscopic sleeve. I also have a toddler and a 9 month old. I’ve been taking it easy and getting my husband to do most of the heavy lifting but I've been managing most things.

My incisions have healed quickly. They were quite sore for the first 10 days but I’m almost back to normal now.

Ive found the lack of energy a bit difficult especially running around after a toddler all day.

good luck on your journey x

SuperSange · 07/05/2023 20:17

I've had a read of the thread and I'm dipping my toe in. I've dieted since my 30's, now 51 without success. Im now menopausal and it's just piling on. I do exercise 3 times a
Week(weights and cardio) and walk my son and the dog to school (3 mile round trip). I've tried therapy too, but no success. Do you think I'd be a good candidate? My bmi is 35 and im in Hampshire. Thanks. 😔

Im99912 · 14/05/2023 00:46

@SuperSange. Your only regret will be why the fuck didn’t I do it earlier 😂😂

SwirlyShirly · 14/05/2023 17:49

13 weeks po and 4st 5lbs down. Couldn't be happier with how it's going. I feel so much better already. 4 down another 10 or so to go 🥴

Questionsbarisurg · 24/05/2023 14:42

@HangerLaneGyratorySystem your date must be coming up soon or past for your revision? How are you getting on?

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 24/05/2023 14:46

Hi @Questionsbarisurg - it’s meant to be 21st June had pre-op thing but I see more junior doctor strikes have been announced so not sure? I’m seeing the anaesthetist on Tuesday so they might know. TBH if it was postponed again I wouldn’t mind; I don’t feel ready I’m worried and the thought of it makes me feel sick. How about you - what’s new?

OP posts:
Questionsbarisurg · 24/05/2023 15:57

Aww no @HangerLaneGyratorySystem is it the nerves of thinking you won’t come through it or more what it entails and you dread? I have been following a lady who had sleeve to bypass revision done on nhs in Homerton with mr loy and it has made me really want to proceed with revision.

I had a consultation with HW about revision and considering a consultation with guy slater too just for second opinion. My gp is referring me for tests regarding PCOS to see if this could be playing any part on my stalled weight loss my scales still have t moved and I am beyond terrified of gaining.

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 24/05/2023 15:59

I've gained a stone - that's one of my worries! Obvs I'll start the liver reduction diet soon, but the extra weight will make the procedure more difficult. I have a fear of anaesthesia which is probably irrational, but fears about complications and knowing how I was last time (just determined to eat whatever I could ASAP) is making me question the whole thing.

Questionsbarisurg · 24/05/2023 16:21

I wonder could you reach out to a couple of sessions of CBT or the likes to help with that side of things for after surgery eating beforehand. No I understand with the whole procedure side of things I feel the same in that way and the worry of not coming through it etc scares me.

if this helps in anyway I think because you are nhs they will only do what’s best for your health rather than for the money. Another thing is I’ve been doing a lot of reading up on bypass and you may have a completely different experience than from your sleeve. I seen an online article about the 1000 pound sisters and tammy has lost 21 stone from her bypass already. When you have your appointment with the anaesthetist hopefully that will help you too

Fifi0 · 24/05/2023 22:33

Yes very much so possibly too much restriction.

Questionsbarisurg · 08/06/2023 20:53

Oh really where did you have your surgery? Have you been able to tail your loses now your 2 years out?

It's been a battle to keep weight up now, I haven't had one gain even when I went to USA on holiday it just plateaued that fortnight. I just drink lots of milky drinks to keep weight up . I had it done in Turkey wouldn't recommend to be honest there. I don't get hungry very often at all now its the opposite of how I used to be. It's very rare though to lose this much weight average is 70 percent of excess weight. It's ok but yeah I have to remind myself to eat its so different to how I was.

Sillygrub · 13/06/2023 08:07

Hope it's ok to jump on, I was briefly on the previous thread but my phone couldn't handle it! I'm 7 weeks post sleeve and happy to answer any questions.

Would also like to hear from anyone who had problems with diarrhea in the early weeks which improved? I'm with Tonic and the nurse I've contacted says it normal and will settle down, just looking for some real life experiences.

medianewbie · 13/06/2023 17:18

This is a shout out to @GreenLeavesRustling. I'm 5 years post roux en y. Went from bmi 44 to bmi 24. Didn't get good post surgery support. Became ill with anaemia. Had to have iron transfusions & B12 injections as kept falling over. Lost job due to this too. So, not an easy thing.
BUT now up to 34 again. Complicated by mobility & sleep apnea. GP says orhi g can be done. No counselling avail. No surgical adjustments. No Ozempic etc availability in area. Ooof.

ThePastKnocks · 13/06/2023 21:59

Can I ask what your BMI was post surgery with tonic? I want to go with them but have a feeling I'll be over their threshold.

SwirlyShirly · 14/06/2023 07:20

I'm 18 weeks post mini bypass op this week and 5st 7lb down - couldn't be happier with my progress which includes:

BMI down from 61.4 to 47.7

Dropping 3 different blood pressure tablets

Now not requiring my cpap to keep me breathing overnight!!!

Resting heart rate down from average 81bpm to 72 bpm

Walking heart rate down from average 126 to 115bpm

2 dress sizes down

Kidney function improved from egfr 23% to 56% (best it has been since diagnosis of ckd)

Spoke to dietician last week and he was a little disappointed weight loss wasn't faster and suggested I started some proper exercise. I will be starting swimming on my non-work days!

Questionsbarisurg · 17/06/2023 16:52

Wow @SwirlyShirly that’s amazing really amazing! Who did your mgb and where at?

i think 5 and a half stone in 18weeks is fantastic and your other health benefits make it even better

Anguauberwaldironfoundersson · 17/06/2023 17:42

I'm 30 weeks/7 months post op.

I'm down:

24st 9 to 18st 3
BMI: 52.6 to 38.8
Size 28 to 18/20
I've lost 60+ inches from my chest, waist, hips, thighs and arms.

I'm at the 1lb a week without trying stage and consistently losing despite not watching what I eat. I'm starting to train and exercise to hopefully boost that.

Happier than I've been in a long time.

I had it done at Solihull hospital, by Dr Darian. She was very nice!

SwirlyShirly · 19/06/2023 13:53

And... I've officially been given the all clear to stop using my cpap machine from now on - no longer needed. I'm over the moon! Today I'm at 5st 9lbs loss since the op Smile

ZestFest · 19/06/2023 14:55

I'm reading about so much amazing progress and huge losses - how do you do it? I'm struggling to see what I'm doing wrong. Can I ask anyone who's at the other end of the spectrum - how did you cope if you simply didn't lose after surgery? Did you change something to kickstart your loss?

I'm in week 7 after UK bypass and have lost around 12 lbs. That was in the first couple of weeks and nothing since then. I have patiently read about stalls and healing/nourishing your body/hydrating/prioritising protein until I'm blue in the face - but the scales aren't budging. I have a huge amount to lose too, 11 stones-ish, so why isn't the weight falling off?
