Hi ladies, here is the new thread. Thought I would start off in an optimistic vein.

No huge aims this month, more water, a bit healthier. I like the idea of trying some youtube pilate and yoga videos. I do want to tone up a bit cause planning a holiday in the Summer, but dont have time or funds for the gym.

Can I join please?

I was 81.8kg this morning, which I've put in as my starting weight. I'm 5'4, so according to BMI my maximum healthy weight is 66kg. However, I have decided that I want to aim to get under 70kg. This would give me a BMI of 27 but I think is much more achievable. At my biggest I weighed just over 90kg, so I think I've done well anyway. If I could get to 70 I would stop there for a bit and then decide how I feel, whether I would want to continue losing.

I came across Corinne Crabtree recently. She is a bit annoying, but I think her methods seem sustainable. I also want to think about some of Rangan Chatterjee's thoughts when I'm making my plans. Which is largely going to be significantly reducing processed food. Our meals aren't too bad, though probably too much bread. But I need to rethink my snacks, and consider things more carefully when I go out for meals.

Thanks for the new thread @Octopus45
Hope you have a great evening!
I'll check in/weigh in tomorrow

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/12/2022 23:06

Hello, just checking in. I am still not weighing, and actually might never weigh again, but also still exercising like a mad thing!

Welcome @ScottishBeth and happy Hogmanay everyone. Lang may your lums reek.

LBB2020 · 02/01/2023 10:12

Morning all, hope you had a great New Year! So I weighed yesterday morning and I’m starting the year at 11st2lb! Not good at all but a good kick up the backside to get myself on the healthy eating and exercise train!

MassiveSalad22 · 02/01/2023 10:19

Hello! Can I join in?

Last year was my ‘year of health’ - had my last baby, had lots of scans and tests (liver x3 as I have pain but it’s just down to fatty liver thankfully), loads of blood tests which led to an autoimmune diagnosis.

So this year is my year of health 2.0 😄 done having babies and now time to set a good example to them.

My aims for Jan:

get nails done regularly to make me feel nice

feel hungry before each meal (only way I’ve ever actually lost a lot of weight!)

exercise a lot - bike, step aerobics, walks, Pilates, Caroline girvan, kettlebells are all things I enjoy

16:8 - I find it easy on school days!

wear Fitbit - bought and arriving soon

buy red light mask - amazing for serotonin, relaxation and skin in general apparently

skincare in general - I have v sensitive skin and just want to look after myself

wear jewellery and mascara

Basically all about treating myself well and I’m hoping that will lead to me treating myself like a temple and feeding myself well and resulting in health.

WinterFoxes · 02/01/2023 10:26

Please can I join you?

Snap @LBB2020 I am 11st 2lbs too. (156lbs/70.76kg). I'm just under 5'4". That's an 8lb gain on my lowest weight last year. I want to get rid of some of that pretty quickly and then focus on a steady weight loss of 30lbs overall.

Target weight is: 59-60kg - 9.5 stone/130-133lbs.

Starting today as yesterday we had a family celebration NYD dinner.

I'm doing Dry Jan (is anyone else?) which usually gives me appalling sugar cravings. I'll need to sort those out, maybe with fruit teas and low sugar jellies.

I'm also doing YWA's 30 day center yoga programme, starts today if anyone want to do this.

I've made veggie soup for lunch, so that's a start and there's left over poached salmon for dinner.

I love your list. I need to add looking after my nails. They are terribly weak. When I care for them, it makes such a difference.

What's a red light mask? I'm intrigued.

LBB2020 · 02/01/2023 10:41

Hello to the new joiners!
@WinterFoxes I'm around 5ft6 so aiming for 10st which “should” be achievable!
Before my last DC (in 2020) I was always around 9st10 at my heaviest. Last year wasn’t a great year, I put back on all the baby weight I’d lost so now I feel like I’m starting over again! I’m still breastfeeding so need to be a little mindful of that (although I am working on weaning but DS2 isn’t having any of it!).
Great list @MassiveSalad22

MassiveSalad22 · 02/01/2023 10:42

@WinterFoxes it’s a terrifying looking electric mask you wear on your face and it emits LED light. Maybe a bit woo but my friend got one for Xmas and finds it amazingly relaxing and her acne breakout dried up so quickly with it! You can get ones that do different colours of light for different things. I suffer with inflammation and it’s meant to be good for that.

Also I did the Zoe study last year which involves wearing a blood sugar monitor for a few weeks, a stool sample test etc…. Very interesting! Recommend that but can be pricey .

ScottishBeth · 02/01/2023 10:45

@MassiveSalad22 it's such a good idea to look after yourself in general. Feeling good about yourself leads to better food choices, I think. I've got lots of self care things that I'm trying to do now. And I'm going to try and get more walking in. Getting fresh air always makes me feel better. I'm going to a sling library soon so hopefully will be able to go on slightly more interesting walks than I can do with the pushchair.

@WinterFoxes I'm doing YWA as well! So excited to do day 1.

I have gained weight over the last 2 days, which isn't a surprise at all. I was 82.7kg this morning. I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to record my weight on NYE!

Anyway I made lots of different mini targets. First one is to get under 80kg. I'm hoping it won't take too long.

Maraudingmarauders · 02/01/2023 10:50

Hello all, can I join? I'm 5'6" and been yo-yoing between 10.5st and 11.5st for a year or two now (used to be 9.5!) - hadn't weighed for a while but I knew my clothes weren't fitting and I felt heavier. Finally got the courage to stand on the scales and horrified to see 12st 7lbs!

I'm absolutely appalled at myself. I've recently moved to a desk job and stopped doing the regular long dog walks I was doing before (shifts changed so DH doing more of them) and it's obviously just crept up on me. I can snack at my desk now too, whereas I couldn't before!

I've signed up to my village circuit class, and I have a gym membership I need to actually use - I plan to do mostly incline walking on the treadmill as it is better on my knees than running.

Target is 2lbs a week, Id like to get to 10st again but under 11 and I'll be happy. I'm currently TTC so health is my priority (and obviously target will change if TTC is successful...)

WinterFoxes · 02/01/2023 16:43

@ScottishBeth - have you done YWA Day 1 yet? I was really shocked how hard I found it. I used to do yoga all the time, but my arms were trembling in that leg-raise down dog and my legs were shaking when moving from lunge into warrior. Made me realise how much I need this!

ScottishBeth · 02/01/2023 17:28

@WinterFoxes have just done it! And yeah, it's surprising how quickly you lose some of it when you have a break. My balance was shocking in the high lunge. But my core is still significantly stronger than it was a few months ago, before I started really regular yoga.

Octopus45 · 02/01/2023 20:05

Hi, welcome to @WinterFoxes , @Maraudingmarauders , @MassiveSalad22 and @ScottishBeth . Everybody's aims sound amazing. I'm impressed. I totally agree about the looking after yourself bit, for me I feel better when I drink a lot of water and walk. Unfortunately I struggle with eating lots of veg and fruit, really doesn't suit my stomach, eventhough I haven't got any health condition as such.

The yoga sounds great, I may give it a go. I get a bit achey sometimes ( I suspect perimenopause is the culprit, although I'm on HRT).

MassiveSalad22 · 02/01/2023 21:12

A day of travel here so not the best food - McDonald’s plant burger for lunch and takeaway for dinner! Salad from Tortilla thought so could have been worse. 20 min walking workout on YouTube with ankle and hand weights, while watching real housewives with DH 😄 gentle start but felt good!

LBB2020 · 02/01/2023 21:44

I didn’t have the healthiest food day today but did go out for a lovely walk around a local National Trust with DH and the children

Maraudingmarauders · 04/01/2023 07:41

@LBB2020 there is always something soothing about the grounds of a NT property!

I'm realtively pleased with my first few days. I've been panicking about hunger and I always find it takes a few days to remind myself a rumbling belly isn't the end of the world. I did 3km on the treadmill yesterday (slight incline, walking pace) and 3km out with the dog on Monday. I've kept to about 1500kcal, which I may try to reduce down slightly as I adjust to less food. I'll see how I go. Last night I followed my meal plan really well except I did give in and have a bowl (45g) of fruit and fibre cereal with 100ml of semi skimmed milk after dinner. Doesn't seem to have done any harm and it stopped me panicking. Better than a pudding or bag of crisps! It's these better choices I'm trying to focus on rather than severe adherence to a diet.

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 173.2lbs, down from 175.4lbs when I started, so I'm very happy. I have a habit of losing 4lbs in my first week (bloat/water) and then reducing to 1-2lbs a week. Reminding myself it's slow and steady not a race when it slows down. Any progress is good progress!

LBB2020 · 04/01/2023 08:50

Well done @Maraudingmarauders
I’m back to work today so hopefully get back into some kind of routine with everything

ScottishBeth · 06/01/2023 07:43

Hope everyone is doing well and settling into the new year. @Octopus45 you should give the yoga a go! I've been doing yoga most days since the middle of October (apart from a lot of December which was a disaster) and it has done so much for me.

@Maraudingmarauders that is a really good start. Yes, finding healthy things that you can have when you're hungry is really important.

I have done pretty well. Until yesterday I have been eating less than I planner (not in terms of calories, but I always plan a couple of snacks but if I'm not hungry I skip them). Yesterday was a bit of a disaster. No car at the moment, tipping it down with rain, when it was supposed to be dry all day, and then DC couldn't get down for her nap. I ended up having McDonald's. However I ordered a medium rather than a large meal, whereas before I could never do that without feeling like I was depriving myself. The rest of the day was good as well.

Much to my surprise I weighed 81.1kg this morning. A substantial loss on Monday (82.7) and even on New Year's Eve (81.8)!

LBB2020 · 06/01/2023 07:57

Morning all, this week has been a bit of a write off to be honest! I’ve made my way through the children’s Christmas chocolate and not managed to get to the gym. I have hit my steps most days and did squeeze in one YouTube core workout. Going to make a bit of a plan over the weekend and get back on it from Monday

Octopus45 · 06/01/2023 07:57

Hi, sounds as if everyone is doing really well. @Maraudingmarauders I know what you mean about panicking about hunger, I'm the same which is why I can never face saying I am on a diet as such. @ScottishBeth I'm planning on doing some yoga over the weekend, I'm terrible at making time in the week and I'm really not a morning person. I made quite a nice thing in the air fryer, chipolata sausages with roasted veg and new potatoes. Reasonably healthy but my stomach feels like lead today.

Did well with my steps Monday and Tuesday, but worked from home on Wednesday and didn't do as well with steps yesterday. Water has been olkish. Think I'm down by about half a pound.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/01/2023 11:30

Morning! I’m off until Monday but have done steps/workout/yoga every day - even on 1 Jan! No weighing here but clothes all feel fine although my face looks puffy from too much wine which stops on Sunday.

CrackedActor · 06/01/2023 11:42

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has tried on line nutrition and exercise coaching for weight loss? I'm about 3 stones overweight and have been looking into Noom, ESG Fitness and Momentum NRG weight management. I've so far only looked at these. I'm reluctant to commit at the moment as there are so many of these out there. I've tried 'general dieting' in the past including keto and IF, but I think I'm not accountable to myself enough. I'm also not flush for money, so don't want to commit to something that might be a waste of time and money.
I'm a size 16, going into 18 and would like to be a 12.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/01/2023 21:05

@CrackedActor i haven’t but there is a guy I follow on TikTok who runs a coaching “academy” online - it’s £40 a month. I love him. This is his Instagram

Welcome @CrackedActor , my Sister did Second Nature a few years ago and really enjoyed it.
@Judystilldreamsofhorses you are doing amazingly with your exercise, you must be feeling great.
Not doing very well here diet wise but I'm not too bothered. Weighed this morning and luckily was the same. Its my Birthday tomorrow so didn't want to weigh then. Going out for dinner tomorrow night and also out with friends on Tuesday night. Aiming to do better with my steps the next few days, going shopping tomorrow so that should help lol
