Refuse to be fat on holiday again next year!

Next year I am going abroad in April and again in August and this time I don't want to be hiding from the camera. I want to make happy memories with my family and not be feeling horribly self conscious about myself so I have started this journey now in hopes I can reach my goal by then.

I started two weeks ago at 16 st 2lbs and today I am 15 st 5lbs.

I am hoping to reach around 12 stone by April and 10 stone (my goal weight) by August. I amdoing one meal a day and walking 5 nights a week, is this do-able in such a time frame?

Just to add, I did one meal a day years ago and lost just over 4 stone in 7 months and kept it off for almost 4 years.
I find it much easier to go without eating all day and focus on the fact I'll eat in the evening. Every diet where I've eaten 3 smaller meals and attempted portion control has failed and I find I'm reaching for the biscuit tin shortly after breakfast.

I have a vacation booked for October and I would love to lose 40lbs, this is a super inspiring thread OP, keep it up!

WonderWoop · 23/03/2023 04:18

You are doing brilliantly!

Update

Weighed in this morning at 13st 2lbs exactly.
Very pleased with this and have now lost 3 stone!
I'm hoping to be into the 12st range by the end of next week.

This is brilliant. You’re a real inspiration.

I weighed on Wednesday and I have lost 25 lbs since 9th January.

Dashel · 31/03/2023 15:46

Congratulations you are doing amazingly well and you must be so pleased. Your clothes must be falling off you.

You still have a long while till your holiday so I’m sure there will be lots more to come off. Are you doing any exercise to help tone as well?

I had to go out and buy myself a couple of pairs of new trousers last week but am making do with a mix of baggy tops/jumpers and a few smaller sized ones from the back of my wardrobe at the moment. I'm trying to save my money for when I reach a healthy weight.

I'm not doing any exercise other than walking the dogs each night. I'm finding I can go much further now and it's so much easier.
I would like to tone up so it's something I need to start thinking about but at the same time I'm hesitant as I know I'm not going to snap back into shape and won't be in a bikini at the beach as I'm self conscious of my saggy tum. Regardless of the saggy skin I'll feel much better and healthier by august and that's what's most important.

FGS who cares, everybody knows that they mean. Don't be such a pedant.

Congratulations OP, you've done brilliantly.

Congratulations OP, you've done brilliantly.

But it’s on a daily basis. On FB, Mumsnet and many other forums. Why don’t people learn the difference fgs.

Yesterday I started the fast 800 which is going well so far. I thought I would be much hungrier than I am!

Starting weight - 16st 2.6

Current weight - 12st 13.6

I got into the next stone bracket (just about!) very pleased with this.

WonderWoop · 04/04/2023 23:06

Hi OP
Are you still doing one meal a day with fast 800?

adistraction · 05/04/2023 00:53

@WonderWoop Yes, I am doing one meal a day but with 800 calories. I'm hoping it will speed things up for the next few weeks.

I'm not hungry at the moment which is surprising as it's so little calories but it's only the end of day two so that could change.

800 cal OMAD is great. I've lost 40lbs doing that since Jan 1st.

adistraction · 21/04/2023 12:49

Checking back in with an update.

I want to use this thread to be totally honest with myself.
I had the intentions of doing fast 800 which started well the first few days but then with AF and my birthday I had a bit of a slip up and wasn't very strict with myself.

Weighed in this morning at exactly 12st 10lbs which is a total loss of 48.6 pounds from my starting weight of 16st 2.6lbs.
I am happy with this but I know I could have done better.

We're off out for a meal this evening with family so I won't be too strict on myself but at the same time I won't go over board with wine or eat dessert.

Planning to give the fast 800 another go on Monday so I will continue to update this thread with my results.

Well done OP, 48 lbs is a brilliant loss in just a few months. Everyone falls off the wagon sometimes, but good on you for keeping going.

WonderWoop · 21/04/2023 15:28

@adistraction it's a phenomenal loss, genuinely well done

rookiemere · 21/04/2023 15:34

You've done absolutely amazingly ! Honestly don't beat yourself up, that's a hugely impressive weight loss.

I've managed to lose 10lb since February and I'm totally chuffed with myself- Losing is losing.

adistraction · 22/04/2023 11:58

Thank you all for the lovely replies.

We went to a lovely Thai restaurant last night and although I didn't count calories I didn't get a dessert (although it was very tempting!).

I'm going for a long walk this evening with our dog to get my steps in and have also been looking online at bikes this morning, I'd love one, though I'm not sure I have the confidence to ride it just yet.

Update

This week was my second week on the fast 800. It has gone really well, I'm into the routine of it now and the constant hunger has passed. I did suffer with some fatigue and headaches for the best part of the first week and I was ready to sack it in but I stuck it out and thankfully that also passed.

I have also gone from obese to overweight with my BMI so I'm feeling very positive and will continue with this for the next 10 weeks.

I have just over 12 weeks to go until we go on holiday and maybe that's not enough time to lose the last 2 stone but either way I already feel much better in myself so I won't be disheartened if I don't get to 10 stone by then.

Starting weight - 16 stone 2.6lbs

Current weight - 12 stone 3.2lbs

beststepforward · 05/05/2023 16:17

Just read the whole thread and found it very motivating! Well done OP. Before you did fast 800, what sort of things were you eating and roughly how many calories?
