Tiger are you going to IOW again this year. Would be nice to meet up if you are and we're there the same time.

colditz · 16/01/2008 18:08

I had my weigh in yesterday and I have lost .....

da dada da dada da dahhhhhh

.....5 and a half pounds.

JackieNo · 16/01/2008 18:46

Wow Colditz - that's really impressive. Well done you. I've been on a huge carb kick today - at home, feeling fluey, and just inhaling whatever was around.

colditz · 16/01/2008 20:30

Thank you! It's the first time I have ever had documented weight loss. My jeans are looser (I am only 5'3 so 5lb is a noticable amount) and I feel happy!

Dottydot · 16/01/2008 22:07

Well done Colditz!

I'm hoping to have lost weight just from watching Torchwood tonight - the excitment of seeing 'Spike' again was almost too much..!

Meanwhile am still eating relatively normally because my appetite's definitely not it's normal (or possibly abnormal ) self. Will weigh at the weekend but I'm starting to feel better in myself so even if I haven't lost anything I'm pleased life's starting to return to normal again. And that's having worked a 21 hour day on Monday/Tuesday...

MightyMoosh · 17/01/2008 16:02

well done colditz, Im mooshing around till I can next weigh myself (too chicken to go to chemist!) but dont think Ive lost any. been eating far too much crap! Although I have been out today in my one item of clothing smaller than a 24- my lovely size 18 primark coat, cant wear often cos its not waterproof but makes me feel good- cant wait till its my biggest item!

TigerFeet · 17/01/2008 18:11

woohoo colditz well done

I lost 2lbs last week - a bit poor for a big lass's first week at WW but good enough for me considering we went away at the weekend and celebrated a friend announcing her pregnancy

Kewcumber we are off on a plane for our holidays this year - we won't get chance to go anywhere else this year as dd starts school in September so I am having to save my annual leave for the weeks she'll only be in Reception for 2½ hours. Such a shame - we love it there and we will deffo be back another year

Littlefish · 17/01/2008 23:24

I couldn't get to WW tonight as DH is away, so I don't know if I've lost anything or not. I suspect not as I've been really lax this week. I can feel myself entering the "I've lost some weight so I'll just treat myself a bit" phase.

Please come and give me large kicks up the arse! I really, really don't want to sabotage myself, but I can feel it happening.

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 09:35

assume the position then Littlefish [takes prepares for long run up and good leg swing]

It is soooo easy to fall into that trap isn't it? Whenever I'm losing weight the first stone or so comes off really easily then I get complacent and it gets really difficult after that. Not sure what to advise really other than STEP AWAY FROM THE CAKE

Think of your goals. Imagine the new slimmer you. Are you going away or do you have a family occasion or something to aim for?

Littlefish · 18/01/2008 09:50

It's my 40th birthday in April and we're going to be at a wedding that weekend with all dh's "London" friends (no offense meant Kew and MM!).

I always feel inferior beside them in their strappy shoes and designer labels. For once, I wanted to walk in there feeling fabulous so that people noticed me coming in, rather than DH. Is that really shallow?

Also, I've got my first solo concert (singing) next weekend, so all eyes really will be on me. GULP.

Thank you for the kick Tiger - am off to have crackers for breakfast, but I'm going to an MN meetup tonight for dinner at a place which serves only absolutely delicious, irresistable food. I think I might have to choose something I don't like, just to stop me scoffing the lot!!!!!

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 10:06

Good luck with the concert! I'd love to hear you sing.

Just keep thinking of the looks on all those posh Londoners' faces when you out-fabulous them in April

We are both aiming for April... what d'you reckon? Can we manage 1½ stone by then

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 10:07

you are never 40 I had you at much younger than that!

Littlefish · 18/01/2008 13:54

Thank you Tigerfeet The one good thing I inherited from my mother was her skin!

Yes, let's just go for it! I'm hoping to lose another stone (so it would be 2 stone in total), but I'm prepared to throw caution to the wind and go for a stone and a half .

Remind me, what is your April occasion?

TigerFeet · 18/01/2008 15:02

I'm off on holiday to SOuthern Spain - nice quiet fishing village on sandy beach with no Benidorm horridness

MrsJohnCusack · 19/01/2008 05:25

oh wow LIttlefish
what are you going to sing?
how exciting

Littlefish · 19/01/2008 08:24

Yes MrsJC, I've finally got round to dusting off my vocal chords, after 10 years [gulp].

I'm singing:
some Faure songs
a piece of Mozart Leider
the first set of Aaron Copland's Old American Songs
2 arias from Acis & Galetea
Someone to watch over me (Gershwin)
Her Song (John Ireland)
The Physician (Cole Porter)
The Flower duet from Lakme (with a flute as the other voice)
The Barcarolle from Offenbach's Tales of Hoffman (I think it's from there).

I think that's it. So far, it's the Faure that is terrifying me!

Does that sound like an interesting programme, or just a completely mixed up one?

Dottydot · 19/01/2008 18:49

Littlefish - that sounds amazing!! I'm hugely impressed - where's the concert? Will keep fingers crossed for you!

Meanwhile I've lost 6lbs since starting the prozac. It's soooo odd not feeling the need to binge eat. Now I've got over the nausea and insomnia I quite fancy staying on them forever..!

Littlefish · 19/01/2008 19:27

Dottydot, The concert is only in the village where I live, but I will know most of the people there, so I'm really, really nervous.

Am I right in thinking you went to RCM? I was at RAM - I wonder if we were contemporaries?

Huge congrats on your weight loss! What a great start. Are you feeling less up and down now as well?

Dottydot · 19/01/2008 21:08

ooh no - I slummed it at Trinity! Studied piano then switched to voice but tiddled around mostly... I was there from 1988 - 1991.

I'm feeling so much calmer and less stressed. I hadn't realised how wound up and anxious I'd become and how much it was affecting me physically as well as psychologically. It's weird - I'm usually the one who keeps everyone else going but had got myself into a really bad state. Anyway yes, feeling on a much more even keel!

WigWamBam · 19/01/2008 21:11

Sorry girls, haven't done the weights yet and haven't had time to read the thread either yet!

Have been up to my ears trying to finish decorating dd's bedroom, get the spare bedroom back into use, and get sorted for going into hospital on Monday ... and I kinda forgot the weights.

Will do it later, or tomorrow if I don't get the chance tonight. And will read the thread and talk to you all too!

OP posts:
Littlefish · 19/01/2008 21:13

I think I left in about 1990, but I can't remember exactly, and don't have the brain power this evening to work it out. I'll have a look back at my degree certificate tomorrow and check.

Can you remember who your SU president was at the time. I had a brief minor fling with the one who was SU president when I was at the RAM (not that I can remember his name , but it might come back to me).

Dottydot · 19/01/2008 21:21

WWB - how come decorating always seems like a really good idea when you first start it and then turns out to be a complete pain in the a**e..?! Hope it's going OK!

Littlefish - from hazy memory the SU president could have been Harvey someone when I first started there, and then was Gill someone (Scottish) who went out with Tony someone for a while but then they both came out! I'm not very good with surnames..!

JackieNo · 19/01/2008 21:23

WWB - will you be in overnight on Monday, or out the same day, do you know? HOpe the decorating gets finished soon.

Littlefish - am in awe of you, you multi-talented thing. The knitting. The singing - you're amazing!

MrsJohnCusack · 19/01/2008 21:47

oi I slummed it at Trinity too , as a postgrad

Littlefish, that sounds FABULOUS
a lot of singing though.I bet you'll be great.

really interesting programme

Dottydot · 19/01/2008 21:50

Aww - lovely photos on your profile, Mrs JC! Didn't know you were at Trinity - but you're a spring chicken compared to me so our paths wouldn't have crossed..! Funnily enough someone in my year who went to Trinity ended up in Christchurch but is now in America I think - we lost touch but he was lovely - Chris Kiver. I'm sure Christchurch is probably not small enough you know everyone but just in case..!
