hi all, havent seen anyone around for a while. so thought i'd start a new thread.
well, i have been stuffing my face since the middle of october! went abroad oct 11th. cant diet whilst on holiday now, can i? but unfortunatley have since been high carbing ti, to various degrees. but, and this is the strange thing, i think my body has actually found a weight it is happy at. because i havent acutally put any wight on,,,, well, yet anyways.

can this be real? at my lowest, i made it down to 59.6 kg, about 9 5. the being under 60 kg was very important psychologically. this morning was 60.3. yesterday 60.1, and have been thereabouts since october really. is this likely to be my new optimum wight, or is it just a prelude before i balloon back up agaiN?

i think i need to go back to induction levels for a while. my target was always 57, or just under nine stone. anyone out there willing to join me?

Yeah i used it alot Pukka. Had loads of creamy cauliflower cheese, and loved the caulirice too. I didn't go too much on caulimash, so i used to have the swede and carrot mash from aunt bessie instead.

Minum · 04/01/2008 19:21

I did try that once, and managed a wet, burnt mush - will try again with more concentration

RGPargy · 04/01/2008 19:57

Oh and dont forget tho Minum - you need to grate the cauliflower when it's RAW. DO NOT COOK IT FIRST!! When you fry it in butter once it's grated is when it cooks. HTH!

pukkapatch · 05/01/2008 11:45

hi all. still sticking with it. low carbign that is rather than the induction. 20g of carbs is just way to low for me to be able to maintain. i'm probly about 30 plus righ tnow. but no bread, or other refined carbs, so i am thinking that is good.?
how are you guys doing?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 05/01/2008 11:48

pukka - if you cant manage on 20g then upping it to 30 is better than just giving up! If you are cutting out bread and other refined carbs then you are bound to see a difference.

I'm still not following a low carb programme yet, but am willing to throw some advice and encouragement around if and when the need arises!

OK - have decided - I'm back in the low carb fold, at least for the moment.

Partly because it's easy (it's what I've been doing more or less for the last 4 or 5 years) and partly because I know that if I'm strict I can lose quite a lot in the next week or so, so get back on track quickly.

But mainly because I'm fearful of the hunger/food obsession that I remember from low calorie/calorie counting days.

So wish me luck. How many of the rest of us are on that wagon from tomorrow morning?!

RGPargy · 06/01/2008 20:52

Good luck BIWI!!

I will be watching the wagon from the side lines for now. Rather like a parade.

pukkapatch · 07/01/2008 08:26

rg watch it, or you'll be banned from this thread.

today and yeserday have been good for me so far. and now off to the gym to burnoff saturday's cookies!

OP posts:
pukkapatch · 07/01/2008 08:27

welcome biwi. i also love low carbing because it means i dont have to be hungry, and i know it works.
i used to be known as cylon amonstsg other things.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 07/01/2008 17:04

Ban me from this thread?!! You wouldn't DARE!!!

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/01/2008 19:32

OK, so a good day so far:

breakfast - 2 poached eggs
lunch - two grilled chicken thighs, with celeriac mash and green salad
dinner - home made chilli (heavy on the meat/light on the beans) on top of cauli rice, with grated cheese on top

no wine (so far!)

Have almost managed my 2 litres of water, but if I keep up the no wine will probably have put away about 3 litres by the end of the evening

pukkapatch · 08/01/2008 12:05

well done biwi. keep it up.

yesterday i went to mcd with ds. i had a chicken caesar salad. munching my way through it, i looke d at the calorie counter thing, and apparently my salad had 19 grams of carbs int it.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 08/01/2008 14:22

Shocking isn't it!! You'd think a chicken salad was simple, but there's loads of hidden carbs in shop bought stuff!

pukkapatch · 09/01/2008 08:37

i think its mainly the dressig. to reduce the fat, they add carbs etc.
yesterday was a good day. ate sausages and kebabs and almnd scone things all day long.
o and codffee

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 11:11

Watch the carbs in those sausages!! Lots of hidden cereal in them. I bought some from Asda (Butchers Best i think they were called) that had 0.5g and 0g carbs per sausage so i could eat them all i liked!

Minum · 09/01/2008 19:56

OK, I'm back on board. I went from eating whatever last year, to low GI after Christmas, to proper low carb now, with the exception of a piece of toast with my scrambled eggs at breakfast, which goes as of tomorrow.

I watched the Hugh chicken program yesterday, and duly bought a free range chicken today. Had it roasted tonight, and have shredded all thats left on the bone, and put in the fridge. For the kids I would probably mix it with some rice and sweetcorn, or make them a pie. But what can I do low-carb for me and DH? Only thought so far was to make some white sauce with cream, and pour over chicken with broccoli/cauli ? Any better ideas?

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/01/2008 22:21

Day 3 and going OK.

Yesterday, had 2 poached eggs for breakfast, then pan fried chicken breasts (with olive oil and garlic), green salad and spouts for lunch, dinner was beef curry with cauli mash and green beans.

Today was 2 poached eggs for breakfast, sliced roast pork with red pepper sauce, green salad and mashed swede and celeria for lunch, panfried chicken breast and roast peppers, courgette and onions with red cabbage.

I have had wine over the last couple of days though

But carb levels significantly lower than over the last couple of weeks!

Minum · 10/01/2008 10:05

The no-toast was fine at breakfast time. Planning to have chicken and mushrooms for lunch, then homemade burgers for tea - with salad for me and DH, and chips for DC

pukkapatch · 11/01/2008 08:41

well done girls. your doing brilliantly.
ive also managed to stick with it. other than the weetabix. but since that was teh only extra carbs i had, i reckon i am still aroung the 30ish grams of carb level. so significantly lowere.
and the weighing machine is my friend. need to lose another six pounds. though

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 11/01/2008 08:45

Weighing machine and friend not currently going together well in the BIWI mind. So much so that I am ignoring the fact that I have any!

Glad things are going well for you pp.

Yesterday was another good day apart from no breakfast. Early meeting so no time.

Lunch was poached smoked haddock with salad and green beans and dinner was two hard boiled eggs cut in half topped with plain yoghurt and grated cheese and grilled, with runner bean salad and red cabbage.

Off to Champneys on Sunday with a couple of girlfriends for 4 days so hoping that I can easily stay on track there. I may even venture into the gym! (Or I might just lounge around reading books ...)

pukkapatch · 11/01/2008 10:40

biwi, your food sounds soo yummy.
i hada scrambled egg, no milk, for breakfatst. and since im'm hungry rightnow. trying to munch my way through yesterday's meatballs. and they are vile.
yuckth. have given up. keep trying to tel lmyself its ok to go have one little itsy bitsy piece of toast. but i need to lose these seven pounds. thye have been on for a decade now. so probly wont want to come off. but, if i can lose them, then i will be in the right palce weightwise.
