7lb to lose and no more ‘starting again tomorrow!’ Who’s with me?

ShortnStout · 09/01/2022 20:04

I know it’s not loads, but 7lbs when you’re 5’1 makes a big difference. My clothes are tight and I feel crap in everything. I also don’t want to wait until it’s 17lbs, which it will be if I carry on like this!

And I am starting again tomorrow. No really now!! Grin

Anyone fancy joining?

I have lost just over 2 lbs now. I actually started calorie counting last Monday but didn’t weigh myself until last Thursday and again this morning.

FuggyPidding · 21/01/2022 17:36

I weighed myself this morning- am 9 stone 6 lbs which means 1lb off since I started this. Slowly but surely I guess!!

Whatwouldnanado · 21/01/2022 17:42

Me please. 5'1" with tight waistbands after Christmas. Need to lose half a stone bum tummy and hips. Out for tea tonight and will have a salad. Honest.

imnottoofussed · 21/01/2022 17:50

I've somehow lost 6lb since Monday 10th.

Height 5'9
Starting weight 12.7
Current weight 12.1 although official recording will be taken on Monday morning.
Goal weight 10.7 by June

What I've been doing:

Only drinking water between approx 9pm and 11am, a few days I carried this on until 12:30. Then trying to only have two meals between then and 9pm and a small snack if needed. Basically fasting for 14-16.5 hours.

Having either granola and yoghurt, tinned beef ravioli, scrambled egg and Heinz beans with sausage, cheese and crackers with chilli jam or beans on two toast with butter for lunch. (All tins 400g size. bread warburtons toastie loaf. Crackers jacobs selection, cheese Wensleydale)

Had normal type evening meals which have involved curry with rice and naan, pasta, shredded bbq beef with potato wedges and bread roll, Diet Coke chicken, meatballs and pasta.

I still went a bit crazy on Friday night and had load of Pringles, cheese and crackers, a couple of chocolates, hot chocolate with marshmallows.

I've also been walking about 10 times for approximately 30 minutes each trying to keep my heart rate in my fat burning zone according to my Fitbit (I manage this for about 50% of the walk)

Somehow this seems to be working for me. I expect it's the fasting that's doing it

Hellosunshiner · 22/01/2022 08:34

Fuggy One pound off is still a pound lighter! It's still as loss. Good job.
Whatwould How'd that salad go? Smile That made me smile because every time I go out for a meal (rare actually), when I'm trying to lose weight I am adamant before that I will only have a salad. Never managed it yet.
Imnottoofussed That's really great progress! Good luck for your June target, if you keep going like this you will definitely get there.

I finally hit the 10st somethings today, yay! 10st 13lb. It's been a while since I saw 10s anything on the scales so I'm happy. I just have to not ruin it tonight with snacking. I will have to sit on my hands if necessary! If I can get past tonight and tomorrow I should be fine for Mon-Fri. It's the weekend snacking that ruins my efforts.

gunnersgold · 22/01/2022 08:47

I have 10 to lose at 5 foot , I've lost 4 . Doing slimming works and going for a pound a week to be summer ready by April 🙏🙏

FetchezLaVache · 22/01/2022 11:04

After a shockingly naughty week, I am back up to 9st 10lb - so I have put back 5lb of the previous week's 7lb loss! Don't feel much different in size, however, so I assume the initial loss was indeed just fluid.

I am planning to be less eaty this coming week, so I'll see what happens with next Saturday's weigh-in.

Hellosunshiner · 24/01/2022 09:57

At least you're still 2lb lower overall though FetchezLaVache, that's still a positive, also you haven't put any extra on which is also a positive (although I know it's v annoying when you regain what you have lost).

gunnersgold well done on your progress, sounds like you are firmly on track! I know Slimming World can be hit or miss with some people, I've done it in the past and think it's great personally. I make up my own diet now (which is mainly just not snacking!) as the good habits I learned in Slimming World have stuck underneath the snacking.

I had a breakthrough this weekend in that I didn't give in to snacking like I usually do as my downfall every weekend. 10st 12lb today, so I feel like I've broken properly into the 10s now, and hopefully I can continue towards my next mini goal of 10st 7lb. I usually get stuck at 10st 9lb before sliding back up so I'll have to watch out for that. Feeling hopeful that I can continue onwards (or downwards!) though.

imnottoofussed · 24/01/2022 12:04

Well done 👏 I've managed to put 1lb on over the weekend but still 5lb lost in two weeks. Hoping I can continue with at least 1lb per week. Why is it so easy to put weight on but you really have to be putting in effort to lose a piddly 1lb Confused

BrimfulOfBaba · 24/01/2022 13:49

Really positive to hear about everyone's success and efforts to keep at it even if the scale isn't always our friend.

I am down 3.4lbs since the 11th, which doesn't sound like a lot but I am thrilled by it - the difference is really noticeable to me and my husband. Having a target to meet each Monday morning helps give me that extra push to turn down an extra chocolate or to have a good session on the cross trainer. My target this morning was to reach 10st6.5, and I'd actually reached 10st8.5! If I manage to keep this rate up, my tracking app thinks I'll get to my goal of around 9stone by the end of March :)

I've joined some in-person exercise classes for accountability and to build lean muscle. The group leader has started me on a high-protein programme so we will see how that goes!

BrimfulOfBaba · 24/01/2022 13:50

@imnottoofussed I wonder the same myself! Requires constant planning and self control to lose anything, but nothing at all to gain about 5lbs!

BrimfulOfBaba · 24/01/2022 13:55

Woops - meant I'd reached 10st5.8 this morning not 10st8.5!

girljulian · 24/01/2022 14:01

Can I join late? I actually started calorie counting last Monday 17 but was scared to weigh myself. Weighed this morning to find I'm 8lbs above the upper end of my "comfortable" range, so let's say I want to lose 10lbs and go from there!

Hellosunshiner · 24/01/2022 14:52

Welcome girljulian! Good on you for weighing, I hate getting on the scales when I know in advance it's not what I want to see but I do think it is really useful to know a starting point.

Big "well dones" to everyone who's lost and "keep goings" to the ones who have put on! There's bound to be some gains and stalls along the way because that's real life, but although it's tempting to throw in the towel altogether with a gain, keeping trying will get us there in the end. What's keeping me going is the thought of it being spring in a few months, and wearing the clothes I actually want to wear and enjoy wearing, instead of just what fits, and also feeling lighter on my feet - I have developed plantar fasciitis since putting on my extra stone, and feel generally creaky. Does anyone else have a motivational goal?

Hellosunshiner · 26/01/2022 12:49

How's everyone doing?

Starting weight was 11st 3lb, current weight 10st 11lb, goal weight 10st 0lb. Nearly half a stone off since starting, but want to keep on to get back to 10st. Hope everyone is doing well on their plans too.

girljulian · 26/01/2022 22:02

Well done @Hellosunshiner! I’m still sticking to my calorie limit and exercise, but as I only weighed myself for the first time on Monday, jury’s still out on whether it’s having any effect…

FetchezLaVache · 27/01/2022 15:43

@Hellosunshiner, glad to see you've broken into the 10st somethings! Onwards and upwards!

I am hanging on in there at 9st 10lb.

Hellosunshiner · 28/01/2022 12:11

Good work FetchezLaVache! Great that you are maintaining. Are you on a different diet strategy to maintain?

10st 10lb currently, so got that half a stone off. Yay. However it's the weekend with the dreaded Friday and Saturday night snack attacks looming. This is exactly the point that it can slip out of my fingers and in a week's time I'll have drifted back well into the 11 stones again and be back to square 1.... I really hope not...

How is everyone else doing? girljulian how has your week gone overall?

girljulian · 28/01/2022 13:00

@Hellosunshiner I'm doing okay, thank you! Stuck to my calorie limit -- I'm eating 1200 calories and doing some exercise every day. I wish now that I'd weighed myself at the start of last week, now that I reach the end of two weeks of this, but hey ho. I've had no "fail" days so I have to believe that means I must be losing weight! I was down two pounds when I weighed middle of the week, then up a pound again this morning, which is annoying but is surely water weight/exercise swelling weight?? I tell myself...
