Please excuse the extremely stupid question....
If people can lose 7 stone in less than a year, what stops you continuing to lose weight AFTER you reach your target weight? How do you avoid ending up weighing an unhealthy 6 and a half stone?

You can eat more and more over time. Two years in I eat smaller portions than before but I don't think it would be noticeable to anyone say over dinner at a restaurant. I guess it looks like you're just eating like a thin person? Also after a lot of reading and research I believe those of us who have been grossly overweight have what people consider to be slow metabolisms. Being overweight changes your 'set point' - the weight your body wants to go to naturally. So I can eat the same amount of calories as a woman the same weight as me (who hasn't been fat) without losing weight because my body just burns fewer calories than someone who has never been morbidly obese.

@VsgKitt any progress updates?

ToomuchHeat · 20/08/2021 19:16

How big do you have to be to have a sleeve?

CliftonGreenYork · 20/08/2021 19:23

Must have a bmi over 35 for most decent companies. Some will do it over 30.

I would love to have this done but I'm so scared I would be one of the ones with the bad side effects. I would love a tummy tuck too.

Flatdisco · 20/08/2021 20:18

I'm having mine a month today!

Can I ask about your feelings of hunger and fullness after the sleeve?

Flatdisco · 20/08/2021 20:25

You can gradually eat more. Plus you have a part of your stomach removed which it responsible for hunger hormones. This gradually 'grows back' for want of a better term. What I mean is the hunger hormones will return.

I'm having my sleeve soon and have done lots of research.

@VsgKitt That's amazing! Can I just compliment you on your rather peachy arse!
VsgKitt · 20/08/2021 20:59

Bruce honestly I have the saggiest little frog bum 😂 I have no idea why it looks like that in that photo Blush it must be the jeans (first pair I've worn in years!)

@VsgKitt how are you getting on post surgery...any regrets?

25yearsnhsworker · 05/09/2021 20:33

Wow amazing

I keep thinking about this.
Do you have it under a GA?

Would anyone mind saying how much they paid for it?
Has any one had it who was a binge eater?

Thanks

CornishTiger · 05/09/2021 20:37

Any thoughts on loose skin?

VsgKitt · 09/10/2021 19:47

How’s is going @VsgKitt
I’m considering surgery but I’m nervous about feeling sick constantly. It’s my worst nightmare.

Sunshineandrainbow · 28/12/2021 23:13

@flatdisco did you have your op?
How are you doing?

Still really interested in this but don't know where to start with researching clinics.

Quirkdolls · 01/09/2024 22:40

Did anyone have doubts about having the operation done abroad so as to save money ? How does the aftercare happen ?
