Just started weightwatchers on my own at home with the points system, doing good so far but the fact that I left 6 points for alcohol tonight is probably not so good. Anyone fancy joining me? don't have to reveal weight, just weekly loss.

Me, I have been stuck in the same weight for about 5 weeks even when I have been dieting, so probably I will be here next week saying I have not lost anything, but if it's of any help, count me in!

kitkat2 · 03/11/2004 00:44

well my big weight loss plan started last week and I ate more than normal but weightwatchers makes you write everything down so it might be helpful, I am being positive (says she who has had a bottle of wine and gnawed on a french stick with no butter) just trying anything, I am still wearing maternity clothes and believe me elasticated jeans are not a good fashion look when you bend over (ooer missus)

If it feels you feel better, today I went to buy my diet food but because I was not going to start until tomorrow, I bought a packet of brussels pate. I swear I just was going to spread alittle bit over a slice of weight watchers brown bread and I ended up eating the full packet, 3 slices, and a cesar salad (DH is away this week so I thought it will get ruined if I didn't eat it today ) Have just finished the day with 3 hotdogs, 2 glasses of diet coke, and a red bull! No wonder I don't loose weight!!!

Should we report the progress on Tuesdays then?

Furball · 03/11/2004 09:59

Kitkat2 - I'm doing WW, but I go to a class. I would be happy to chirp in with help, ideas and motivation as I've only lost 1/2 lb in the last 3 weigh-ins. Oh dear...

Chandra - you can get WW pate it's 3 points for the whole tub and very nice!

kitkat2 · 04/11/2004 23:03

Thanks furball, I have sort of been good so far (I haven't been counting wine as it has no fat content)(joking) I have done WW twice before successfully so it is my only hope, the only thing I had much more time to cook before dd so any suggestions on quick recipes

Hi, I'll join you - I'm vaguely following weight watchers too from home - mum used to go so gave the info on points etc. Dh and I have both put on a bit of wieght in the three years we've been married and with starting work from being students our excercise levels are less. I'm looking to lose a stone - currently 10.7 and would ideally like to be around 9.7. Only started thinking about this yesterday, planning to weigh on sundays and going to the gym this afternoon. Would love to get back into my wedding dress.........

Furball · 05/11/2004 19:41

The main thing I've done is got myself a smaller plate and find that helps alot in the quest for smaller portions. I don't really cook proper WW stuff and am just careful with everyday cooking. I try and adapt what I already do. I do eat the WW desserts though, well worth it and at only 2-3 points per go enough to stop you raiding the cupboards. I snack on raw carrot, not your ideal 'munchie' sort of food, but if I'm sat in front of the telly I don't tend to notice what I'm tasting IYKWIM, but great crunchy texture. I also tend to make a 0 point soup for lunch, didn't realise how easy soup was to make! I can give you a multi-purpose soup recipe if thats your sort of thing.

Heres in our quest to be sleek and slinky......

Twiga · 05/11/2004 23:36

spoke too soon about the gym thing, dh not feeling great so we didn't go and to top it sat and ate junk with a friend who popped in for coffee tonight. Oh well tomorrow's another day...........

babybliss · 06/11/2004 07:24

Hi all. I would love to join in with you all. I went to WW classes 2 years ago to lose weight for my wedding. In 6monthe I lost 3stone and got into my dream wedding dress. I now way 14 stone post DD and am desperate to start losing again but time and money don't really allow me to go to the classes so this will be really helpful.

Kayleigh · 08/11/2004 21:57

Can I join? I started w/w thursday last week. Have been a slimmng world dieter for years but think i needed a change as was completely in a rut and had lost all will power.

Am very impressed with w/w website and the points calculator.

Anyone got any tips for low points breakfasts ? So far have alternated between crumpets with marmite or weetabix.

Furball · 08/11/2004 22:09

Oh Kayleigh, thats what happened to me I just needed a change. I've lost another 2 lbs tonight so am well chuffed with that.

What I have for breakfast is a double helping of whatever cereal I feel like I have either shredded wheat, shreddies, weetabix or porridge. They are about 1 1/2 points per 30gr - I double that to 60gr @ 3 points and find that gets me through til lunch. You could also have 2 x toast and jam for the same, or grilled tomatos, mushrooms etc. Remember eggs are points now. What would you normally have?

Twiga · 09/11/2004 09:02

Hi, not much happening here, dh is on nights at the minute so not very organised on food front etc. No change in weight and am aiming to try and get started properly by the weekend.

Glad you had a good result furball x

Kayleigh · 09/11/2004 15:55

Furball, think I need to alternate with different cereals. I tend to stick to one and then get bored. I love the grilled mushrooms & tomatoes on toast. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Well done with your loss btw, that's great. How much have you lost altogether ?

Furball · 09/11/2004 19:59

I've lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks hopefully I can keep taking it steadily, at least another 1/2 stone to go, may another stone - I'll wait and see.

How much have you lost with Slimming World and how much further do you have to go?

Kayleigh · 09/11/2004 22:29

Furball that's really good. I lost nearly 5 stone with slimming world after ds2. But have been slowly putting it back on - have put on 2 stone in a year. I lost 9 lbs a couple of months ago but just put it back on again as I can't seem to stick with the plan any more. Now I need to lose 3 stone in total. Am so cross with myself .

Arabica · 10/11/2004 09:48

Hi Kayleigh! Wondered where you'd gone from the SW thread. Just curious, how does WW compare with SW for group support? I've heard a lot from SW members who've previously been to WW, that they found WW less supportive in that the consultants were more critical if they lost weight--is that true or have they changed?

Kayleigh · 10/11/2004 09:51

Hi Arabica. Sorry for abonding you on the s/w thread but it just wasn't doing it for me anymore. Been doing it on and off for 6 years - hopefully i just need a change.

Am going to a lunchtime city class so only a weigh-in and chat with consultant if you need to. Have only been to one class so far so no experience of no loss yet. But consultant seems really nice. Website is really good too - much easier to look up points value of foods as don't need to know manufacturer.

Will keep you posted

Kayleigh · 10/11/2004 09:52

abonding ??? I meant abandoning !

Arabica · 10/11/2004 09:58

Abonding sounds good! I think that's what aslimmers do on amumsnet!

Furball · 10/11/2004 10:56

My WW consultant is really, really good. The thing I like is they don't just (like my old SW lady) say 'Furball, you've put on a pound this week. Try harder next week' type of thing. It's a group talk and anyone who is pleased can tell the whole class if THEY want and anyone who is struggling can also get help and the whole class can chip in with advice and ideas etc. When people have had a good loss that week, I'd say she was very pleased for us and trys to get us to hold that feeling to carry us through til next week. Very impressed.

Kayleigh · 10/11/2004 14:45

LOL Arabica

Kayleigh · 11/11/2004 14:28

I lost 8lbs on first week of w/w. Am over the moon.

Furball · 12/11/2004 11:13

Wow wee Kayleigh, thats fantastic

Kayleigh · 16/11/2004 15:09

How's everybody doing ???

Twiga · 18/11/2004 00:47

Nice one Kayleigh! I'm still at the same weight, mainly because haven't really been doing much about losing it - have been trying to eat more healthy stuff and sensible portions. I do shifts as part of my job, which makes life really difficult - tend to "graze" a lot at work - stressful job so many biscuits with my cuppa is an easy temptation - should really get myself to the gym. Furball, your class sounds great, hope you continue to get plenty encouragement and support there.
