Weight loss for vegetarians

LargeInCharge · 16/04/2021 12:55

Hello!
I’ve been a vegetarian nearly all my life and I want to lose weight to be healthier (and to look better in my clothes) so I thought I’d create a space where fellow veggies (and vegans too) can share their weight loss journeys, food ideas, recipes and how they are feeling.

I started my journey on Tuesday so this is day 4 for me. My daily calorie limit is 1200.

Weight - 15st 4 (weighed on day 1)
Height - 5’ 9
Goal weight - 10st 7

How I gained weight - not exercising, eating crisps, cake, too many carbs and booze.
Positive changes - trying to be more active, ditched the crisps, cake and booze. Limiting my carbs as much as I can.

No pressure to reveal weight or anything that’s personal to you.

Good luck. 🥗🌽🥦🥬🥕🥒🫑🥑🥭🍅🍑🍓🍌🥥🫐

@Yourownpersonaljesus you need to eat it or get rid of it. Having it right there will just not do Smile
Yes, I'm pleased with my choices.I want a few days of everything from scratch or minimally processed just to reset the daily ice cream habit any bad habits that have snuck up

These were the ice lollies I bought today www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/Product/sainsburys-coconut-pineapple-lime-ice-lollies-4x73ml
4 ingredients only so I'm happy with that, and they are only 74 cals

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 18:12

and if I really, really try, I can convince myself I'm having a pina colada

Yourownpersonaljesus · 01/06/2021 18:20

Well @purplegirl13 I went for your first option!!! Why does cheap Easter egg chocolate taste so good. I haven't eaten all of it but I'm sure I will have before the night is over. It is/ was a small one though. I have been doing so well over the last few days too.

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 18:25

everyone any suggestion to use up almost a whole tub of creme fraiche? I have about 220ml left, I would normally make a creamy pasta sauce but want to avoid pasta this week.

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 18:28

@Yourownpersonaljesus think of it as a substitute for the cake you didn't have yesterday! At least after tonight, it will no longer be tempting you. I shared an Easter egg with my nephew at the weekend, and you are absolutely right, there is definitely something very addictive about them! They always taste much better than a bar of choc.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 01/06/2021 18:45

Those lollies look really refreshing, shame I don't have a Sainsbury's near me.

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 18:55

@Yourownpersonaljesus I think you get your groceries via ocado? www.ocado.com/products/m-s-pineapple-coconut-lime-lollies-505969011

LargeInCharge · 01/06/2021 19:13

Cheers guys.

I’m waiting on a grocery delivery and I ordered some Neapolitan sandwich type ice creams. The calories aren’t too bad and it’s getting warmer here.

I've just been on the Ocado website and ordered lots of low calorie lollies!!! Hope this lovely weather is here to stay.

You're doing so well @LargeInCharge. I wish I could eat as few calories as you do. I had a better day yesterday after the Easter egg disaster the day before. I ate 1692 calories, which was actually under for me according to mfp. I did a workout and walked quite a bit as i went out shopping. I bought some workout shorts, a hoodie, pyjama shorts, foundation and some bits from L'Occitane. Also got the beauty bag from M and S which I'm excited about - I'm very easily please these days! Not working out today as it's too hot - well that's my excuse anyway! Have a great day everyone.

LargeInCharge · 03/06/2021 15:18

Thank you @Yourownpersonaljesus I’m surprised at how I’m able to hit my protein and fibre goals by around 800 calories. I’m not usually hungry either so fingers crossed it continues.

You’re doing well too and Easter eggs are delicious and the odd treat doesn’t hurt. Your shopping sounds great too. I’ve got my eye on a size 16 dress to be my motivation dress.

What’s in the beauty bag?

OP posts:
Yourownpersonaljesus · 03/06/2021 15:46

Here's what's in the bag:
1x6ml Full Size Autograph Colour Shine Lip Lacquer 6ml
2x5ml Discover Fragrance Roller Ball - Pink Pepper & Spiced Bergamot (
1x60ml Full Size Formula - Your Time To Glow Rapid Morning Mask 60ml
1x100ml Full Size Aveda - Botanical Repair™ Leave-In Treatment
1x15ml Full Size Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream
1x50ml Colour Wow - Raise the Root Thickening & Lift Spray
1x20ml Emma Hardie - Protect & Prime SPF30
1x75ml L'Occitane - Almond Shower Oil
1x 14ml Nails Inc - Looking Super Juicy (Watermelon Pink)
1x10ml NUXE Huile Prodigieuse® Or Golden Shimmer Multi-Purpose Dry Oil for Face, Body and Hair
1x10ml Ren - Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream
The only thing I would actually buy normally is the shower oil but I will try most of the products and it's nice to try products I wouldn't usually buy and give myself a little pamper. I'll give DD the lip gloss and nail varnish if she wants them when she gets back from uni. I used to treat myself with food so this is a good substitute. I must admit that before I lost weight I had absolutely no interest in clothes and skincare but this seems to be changing. What's the dress you've got your eye on @LargeInCharge?

LargeInCharge · 03/06/2021 17:07

That all sounds lovely and great for a good pampering.

The dress was on eBay, a long tall sally maxi dress (I’m 5ft 9.5) but I was outbid in the last few seconds. Oh well I’ll keep looking.

I’m finding this warmer weather a lot more tolerable and I’m actually feeling cool rather than frustrated and hot like last year.

OP posts:
Yourownpersonaljesus · 03/06/2021 17:50

That's a shame about the dress @LargeInCharge. I know what you mean about feeling cooler - I was just thinking that yesterday. I used to dread the hot weather before I lost weight. I even wore shorts when I took the dog out today - I would never have done that before.

LargeInCharge · 03/06/2021 22:24

I love things like that, like milestones in a way.

Yesterday’s calorie total = 1187.

I replaced my morning coffee with water today. I’m going to try the 12pm til 8pm window for my meals.

Weigh in day for me, weight has been up and up the last few weeks but I'll take today's reading as it puts me under 10st. I'm 7.8lbs away from hitting a normal bmi.

I'm away visiting friends this weekend so I'll indulge. My aim for this month is to maintain, or not gain. I don't expect to lose due to socialising and eating out.

I'll be back to catch up on posts later

Well done on your loss @purplegirl13 and I hope you enjoy the weekend.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 04/06/2021 17:02

Wow purplegirl-that seems like a definite milestone.

I've not really been up for food the past few days as I got one of the phd studentships I applied for, and had zero notice of start date, so I think I'm in slight shock. Super happy but I am slow to adjust to things.

So far today I have eaten an ice cream.

But it's ds2's birthday and I'm making sushi so that should sort my appetite out!

Yourownpersonaljesus · 04/06/2021 17:22

Well done @purplegirl13 and @SuperLoudPoppingAction - amazing achievements.

LargeInCharge · 05/06/2021 13:09

Yesterday’s calories = 1214

My foot’s been sore the last few days which has hindered my step count so I’m going to row this weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Happy stoneiversary @purplegirl13 that is amazing!

I am just home after a very indulgent half term holiday and haven't braved the scales yet but I am not going to beat myself up over whatever the news is. It was a much-needed break and it's fine to turn over a new leaf now I am home.
