As that opens up the gateway and I undo all my hard work.

People say life is too short and let yourself have cake...but life's long enough to withstand going without for a few months when you think of all the benefits afterwards.

So here we are, the start of yet another tactic but one I feel I have a better chance at sticking to.

I don't need to let myself have a treat because it's a Friday, because Friday turns into friday, Saturday and Sunday too. No more.

Feel free to join in, will update with starting weight in the morning.

Same with sweets cakes biscuits and ice cream !
I need to make my treats a nice bubble bath , moisturiser shave legs etc 🤣

whenwillthemadnessend · 05/04/2021 21:02

Have to tried 5:2 diet. I lost loads in that That fast days are hard and it takes will power but the other 5 days no calorie counting It worked for me. Need to redo it as I'm pretty sure packing an extra half stone or 2!!!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 05/04/2021 21:13

Me me me. I'm just like this - no junk at all or enough for a small village.

I've piled on so much weights over the last 12 months. I'm a bit disgusted with myself really.

Will check in in the morning with starting weight.

Ticklist · 05/04/2021 22:09

See I really struggled the 5:2, not the fast days but the days I can eat 'normally' turns it into fast 2 binge 5..

I feel like no allowances will be brutal and possibly boring, but I also think it's doable and will be a hell of a lot easier to stick to for me!

Grin @ shaving legs as a treat! Though actually that's not a bad shout!

Morning @Ticklist and everyone else.

I've done it. 14st 1.5lbs Blush feeling really awful about it. I got down to 12st during lockdown 1 and felt good at that weight, so that's going to be my goal. I've been much, much lighter but found it very difficult to sustain. I'm a SAHM with two toddler boys, life is busy and I need to be realistic.

This is actually a really bad week for me to start as we're doing things which will involve eating tasty things nearly everyday this week (picnics with friends etc) then it's my youngest's 2nd birthday on Sunday. If I can at least get through this week without gaining, I can then start with a bit more ooomph next week. I should then have a clear month before my husband's birthday, so that's a reasonable amount of time to make a good dent in it.

Food wise I'm going to loosely follow Slimming World but with none of the faddy stuff. Exercise is tricky because I've got the boys, but I do like running so will do a couple of 2.5 mile runs at the weekend.

Good luck all!

newlabelwriter · 06/04/2021 07:08

I’m currently on the virtual gastric band app and have lost over a stone in 6 weeks. I’m rubbish at dieting but this has really worked for me. Listen morning and evening and it’s really done the trick with me and I promise you I’m normally exactly like you. I’ve even managed to ignore all the many Easter eggs this weekend.

Ticklist · 06/04/2021 07:30

Oh how spooky I've just weighed and am 14st1.0lb!

I'm meeting my sister today for the first time in months and already had to stop her from getting fancy drive through coffees on her way!

Is that a hypnotherapy one NewLabel? I tried that last year but found I fell asleep every time I tried it!

OP posts:
newlabelwriter · 06/04/2021 08:25

Yes, it’s that one and I fall asleep a lot but miraculously am still getting results. Drinking a ton of water and the hypnotherapy combined I’m just eating loads less, exercising and genuinely not feeling hungry all the time. Was v sceptical before I started but def working for me.

Ticklist · 06/04/2021 08:32

It reminds me of Chandlers stop smoking tapes!

I have done well with weight loss since last summer and put it down to two key factors:
A slow and steady approach eating healthy but normal meals (not a specific diet) and watching portion control of higher calorie elements
And
Breaking the snacking habit.

Chocolate and sugar based snacks are addictive, and like you I don’t stop once I get started, so I stopped. I do have snacks but pre designated ones: two thin crackers and a smear of cream cheese, or a satsuma, carrot sticks, whatever.

It took me about 4-7 days to find it easy not to snack / crave choc.

I have also, on the way, had some spectacular lapses in terms of chocolate, but look on it as a mini upward spike in a general downward trend. And carry on with the healthy eating.

The ‘life’s too short’ argument could apply to everything really, from cake to smoking... to not feeling your best for whatever reason (not being able to go hill walking / feel happy in your clothing choices, whatever).

Oh, and let your achievements fuel your next lost pound. Be proud of every success. A half pound loss is a pack of butter or a block of cheese off your middle!

Good luck!

Ha, me too! 😂
istheresomethingwrongwithme · 06/04/2021 14:01

Very spooky indeed @Ticklist!

@newlabelwriter that sounds really interesting, I might look into doing that myself.

Ticklist · 06/04/2021 16:09

Well, It's 4pm and I haven't eaten any chocolate!!

OP posts:
Ticklist · 06/04/2021 20:45

I've managed day 1 and other than snapping at DH I've been fine. (He offered me choc multiple times which is mean)

I've even set up a spreadsheet so I can tick as I go along (love a list!)

Hope everyone else is doing ok

I've also downloaded that app again because I felt left out!

Morning.

How did everyone get on last week?

I had a disastrous week. Weighed this morning - 14st 2.5lb. Awful.

Feeling a bit more motivated today though. It's my husband's birthday on 12th May, so I'm going to try and have a really good stab at it for the next month as I can't think of anything that's happening until then to knock me off course.

Who wants to join me?!

Ticklist · 12/04/2021 08:33

Well my radio silence about sums it up! (Who pledges to be strict during half term with Easter chocolate and cakes everywhere)

Weighed in at 14.02 so -0.8 off which is quite frankly a miracle.

Have a bike ride planned with ds this afternoon though so that's something!

OP posts:
istheresomethingwrongwithme · 12/04/2021 08:41

Well done @Ticklist - agree, we didn't pick the best week to start!

Onwards and upwards! Enjoy your bike ride Smile

Ticklist · 12/04/2021 08:45

Did you try the app? I did twice but zonked out both times 😂

OP posts:
lorellie · 12/04/2021 09:26

Hi @Ticklist is it ok if I join you?

I've pretty much stuffed my face fir over a year and now have gained lots of weight.

I weighed myself earlier and I weigh 11st 11.5lbs. Shocking!

My plan is to stop stuffing my face 😁

lolaflores · 12/04/2021 09:28

Just looking at the gastric band app. Is it really worth doing? I've just moved out of the obese zone BMI and weigh y 11stone 10 at 5ft 3 I am overweight at 53 this is no longer an issue I can cheerfully ignore. My cholesterol is creeping up too.
I would like to shift a stone. I am carb low (no bread pasta rice) and been that way since November and it has got me down a dress size. I dont weigh myself because I get caught up in that and it doesnt work. I have e a pair of Jean's that let me k ow where I am.
Is the VGB app a good long term aid?
I can do angry eating sometimes. I dont drink but am not the biggest exercise person due to physical issues.
Any pointers gratefully received.
dh is taking a look at the idea too which would be brilliant

Ticklist · 12/04/2021 09:48

I think it's very hit and miss as everyone is different and the only way you will know is if you try it, it's free though so worth a go.. I personally don't rate it but thats because I fall asleep rather than actually hear it also her voice is annoying but I haven't played about to see if you can change it in the settings.

@lorellie welcome! Any other plan of attack or just cut the crap out?

OP posts:
JennysWell · 12/04/2021 15:17

I'll join too, I'm stuck on 13'8" for the last two weeks because of all the rubbish I'm eating. I have lost 1st 11lbs by cutting carbs and increasing veg.

I really need to quit chocolate in particular, I've ordered some choco type teas as a substitute

Ticklist · 12/04/2021 15:51

That's a great loss well done! Chocolate tea?! I can't decide if that sounds yum or a disaster!

OP posts:
newlabelwriter · 12/04/2021 16:08

For those of you asking about VGB it's really worked for me and as said above I'm crap at diets. It's not rocket science just drinking more and eating until your full and exercising more but for some reason it really works for me. I'm genuinely not hungry between meals so the I guess the hypnotism being doing something

Ticklist · 14/04/2021 07:58

How was everyones day yday? I met a friend at a park right next to a bakery.. I failed and scoffed then skipped dinner to make up for it it so technically was slightly under my calorie goal but not the best idea!
