Anyone else sick and tired of being fat?

I am three stone overweight and so fed up about it. I spend so much time thinking about it and how unhappy it makes me feel. I'm just not me anymore and I am very embarrassed of how I look and so uncomfortable.

Yesterday I decided that I am going to try really hard to shift this lard hanging off me. I weighed myself and am 12st 1.25lbs.

Anyone else want to join me?

@Noshowlomo you really can do this. This time last week I was crying because I couldn't stop eating. I started on Sunday and I have surprised myself that I can actually eat sensibly and just three times a day. I know that it's really early days for me but the main thing is I have started and the scales already weigh a couple of pounds less.

@Noshowlomo You have no reason to hate yourself. I think the proportion of adults now overweight in the UK is 62% - meaning more than half of us struggle to keep our weight in the healthy range. It's a fact that modern life makes it very difficult, and to add to the existing struggle we've had lockdown so normal exercise has been disrupted and we've all been bored at home where it's so easy to reach for some food as a bit of a pick me up.

You can lose that 6 stone. Take it half a stone at a time. Even losing half a stone you'll start to feel better with looser clothes, and once you register a loss that will motivate you to keep going with your eating plan of choice.

Be kind to yourself.

@LApprentiSorcier I agree with taking it half a stone at a time. This is what I am doing and it feels more achievable for me.

@Noshowlomo be kind to yourself love!

I know everyone is different but the thing that is really helping me right now is taking it literally one meal at a time. I’m doing a low carb, low calorie diet (1200 calories per day - maybe slightly more if I go for a ling walk) and almost gave up several times in the first week but it’s three weeks in and now I’m over the carb-comedown and I feel great. I never feel hungry even though I must have cut my calories more than in half, my blood sugar feels so much more stable and I’m sleeping better. Find something that works for you and stick at it, it gets easier!

How's everyone doing? It's a beautiful day here and the sun is breaking through.

I struggled last night because I stupidly made a cake earlier on. I resisted all day then caved late evening. I had a tiny slice and left it at that. Normally I would have eaten most of the cake so I am pleased with myself for showing a little bit of control 😁

I'll join if thats OK. At the beginning of the first lockdown, I promised myself I would lose a stone. I didn't. I ended up pregnant and now I'm 2 stone heavier than I was at the beginning of the first lockdown. I was hoping most of it was just fluid etc, but 6 weeks later I still can't get my engagement ring on, and I haven't even attempted any of my clothes because I think I'll cry.
I've never been this size, not even after my other 2 children. The girl has ruined me 😂.
These days I really struggle to lose weight. I have no will power. When I was younger I went to some extreme lengths to be thin and I don't want to end up like that again.

Any tips on how to stop cravings would be much appreciated. At the moment if the baby cries, I find myself heading to the sweetie cupboard and grabbing whatever is in there. I didn't even realise I was doing it!

Thanks for joining us @Iminaglasscaseofemotion

Congratulations on your new baby.

@Mucklemore

Does anyone else weigh every day?

I've been told this is the best way to hold accountability but I'm finding the 4-5 day run of the same mush weight very frustrating!

I'm weighing daily. I came back to look at the thread because I'm annoyed the scales haven't moved in 2 days. Maybe I should have got scales that go more accurate that 1lb. Even 100g off would make me feel better.
Noshowlomo · 18/03/2021 06:53

Thanks all. Was just being a Debbie Downer. I know I can do something about it so I just need to get on with it.
Started SW again and was on plan for the whole day and that’s been a while.
Sometimes you just need to give yourself a good talking to !

Can I join please? I'm struggling to move the baby weight (DS is 2.5 now!) and lockdown has not been easy for me.

I do not want to have another hot summer being miserable!

Any tips for time management? I am quite time poor at the moment so I tend to eat badly and comfort eat when stressed.

Love51 · 18/03/2021 08:54

Planning is my top tip for time management.
Also, I find that it isn't that I don't have any time at all, it is that I have time at convenient moments. So if I have some time I'll bake a lentil bake I like, or batch cook ratatouille and stick it in the freezer in portions. You have to remember to take it out if the freezer the night before.
I'm keeping it simple at the moment. Tuna mayo and salad about 3-4 times a week, same breakfast (yoghurt, berries, nuts) most days, omelette and salad a few times a week. I do hard boiled eggs which obviously take time to prepare but can be eaten on the run.

I find the 16:8 great for this. I have a late packed lunch and make sure I have something quick to cook on an evening. But as I'm not calorie counting as such I can eat with the family (tho I eater a smaller portion than I would've previously!).

I've found it easier than previous diets which need 3 weighed out meals.

I've lost a pound today. Finally the daily weighing is paying off and feeling really motivated today.

However I am going into 4 days off...
