Anyone else sick and tired of being fat?

I am three stone overweight and so fed up about it. I spend so much time thinking about it and how unhappy it makes me feel. I'm just not me anymore and I am very embarrassed of how I look and so uncomfortable.

Yesterday I decided that I am going to try really hard to shift this lard hanging off me. I weighed myself and am 12st 1.25lbs.

Anyone else want to join me?

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup that is so inspiring! Can I ask what's kept you going? I can lose a bit then lose motivation and pile more back on whilst I'm waiting to get my act together again.

It's the longevity I struggle with.

what keeps me going mainly is vanity (I'm going to be a mature student later this year, and I didn't want to be the "old AND fat" one Grin), plus a big F YOU to H who I left last year and who I want to realise what he's lost.

But also, I'm so much less ill (fibromyalgia, arthritis, general menopausey aches and pains and brain fog), and I'm actually able to do some exercise without needing hours afterwards to recover, so the more I carry on, the easier it all gets.

Mainly the vanity though.

There are some amazing losses on here already - really motivational!

I have been WFH this last year but will probably be back in the office in summer and I am determined to get back into my work clothes!

runlift · 15/03/2021 12:12

I'll join! I also eat far too much chocolate and quantities of food in general. I think I need to change to an early bedtime as evening snacking is the main issue. But somehow I can't change!

Would changing your evening meal time be an option?

I was very bad for snacking after work, before my evening meal, so I have started having the meal much earlier so I didn't feel hungry in that slot. If you are snacking after your evening meal, maybe having it later is worth a try?

I would like to join, I was a SW target member for years but over the last 4 years I have slowly put the weight back on and now need to lose 2 stone. Strangely I can still wear many of the same clothes unless they have a waist band. I am an apple and it all goes on around my middle. I just bloody love food, especially carbs. I am trying healthy eating and calorie counting.

Stilltalkstotrees · 15/03/2021 13:23

Hi OP (and everyone). Another success story here.

I was 12st 1 on 1st Jan. Have been using My Fitness Pal & sticking to (around) 1200 calories, plus walking every day and now running 3 x per week. No 'cheat days', carb reducing, intermittent fasting or other specific regimes. I appreciate that different approaches can work for some people but for me it's being consistent that sees the results. I'm also not drinking alcohol at all as it demolishes my willpower.

Current weight is 10st 4. I think I'd like to be 8st 10, which is heavier than when I was a lass so we'll see when I get there.

I eat the same thing for breakfast (fruit, yogurt, muesli) and lunch (vegetable soup, small slice of whole meal bread) every day - which some might find boring but it means I don't have to think. Evening meal is different every day, we all eat together but I make sure my plate is around 400 cals. I also have 2 snacks of around 100 cals, which vary according to what I fancy.

I weigh myself daily as I can see the downward trend and it motivates me - even if the odd day is up. I never eat the calories MFP adds on for exercise.

Good luck! You can do this Smile

Oooh can I join this thread? We are similar weights and I want to lose about two stone - I think ten stone will be a good weight for me to maintain.

I’m very active and missing the gym a lot. Lockdown has played absolute havoc with my weight as I’ve never bothered calorie counting before but I’m so much less active and you can definitely see it on my body (goal weight, one chin!). Dreadful.

1200 calories a day. The first few days were hellish but now I’m really enjoying it. Good luck everyone!

penelopepittastopp · 15/03/2021 19:50

@Shopliftersoftheworldunite 'goal weight, one chin'. I hear you! 😂

Does anyone else weigh every day?

I've been told this is the best way to hold accountability but I'm finding the 4-5 day run of the same mush weight very frustrating!

LApprentiSorcier · 16/03/2021 07:38

@BunnyJumper

Yes please. I'm so down! I was meant to get married last year, and wedding is now in August. But I'm 1.5stone heavier and I don't fit into my wedding dress!

So down about it but I can't seem to get the motivation to get a move on and shift the weight. Two small kids under 3 isn't helping!

Hope we can all do it together!

You'll do it, I promise you. Something similar happened to me when I got married 15 years ago - I had slightly more to lose and slightly less time than you. I put myself on a high protein/veg and limited carbohydrate diet. Come the day, I slipped into the dress! You just have to remember it's entirely within your power to do this, it's not impossible, it's purely the science of eating a good diet - you provide the diet and your body will respond.
penelopepittastopp · 16/03/2021 07:47

@Mucklemore yes, I am weighing everyday. It's only day three for me since I started though. I'm ok with the scales staying the same, I just don't want them to go up. Not sure if weighing everyday is a good thing, but for me right now it's keeping me motivated.

OP posts:
JengaNonConfirming · 16/03/2021 08:30

@Mucklemore, I weigh every day. I find that weighing every day let's me see the natural pattern and also takes away the pressure to have lost that weighing once a week brought me. If it stays the same for a few days I tell myself that at least it's not going up.

Stilltalkstotrees · 16/03/2021 12:37

@Mucklemore - this is my progress chart from MFP, weighing every day. I love looking at it and seeing how far I've come Smile

Anyone else sick and tired of being fat?
Mucklemore · 16/03/2021 12:45

@Stilltalkstotrees that is so inspiring well done!

I think I just need to be less impatient. It's taken 6 years to get to this size, if I can lose it in 6 months that's pretty good going.

penelopepittastopp · 16/03/2021 13:44

Well done @Stilltalkstotrees such good work. I'm really pleased for you and it shows what can be achieved with a bit of effort.

OP posts:
Stilltalkstotrees · 16/03/2021 13:54

Thanks SmileGrin It's not all been plain sailing - there are times when I've felt like giving up. But I'm feeling so much better and can really believe that I'll get there within too long. It's not that bad really, just getting used to eating less and having the mindset that the momentary pleasure of eating is not worth it. Lockdown helps too as there's less temptation!

JengaNonConfirming · 16/03/2021 14:32

@Mucklemore, I think patience is quite important. As you say, the weight didn't go on overnight, so it'll take time to come off. I think we pressure ourselves more in hoping for a quick fix - it isn't achievable, so we feel we're failing and put it all back on.....plus more.

For me I have accepted that it will take about a year. But no more swinging from being on a diet to eating everything in sight, I'm hoping I've found my middle ground. Plus non scale victories are important, so I'm moving more easily, doing 10000 steps a day, losing inches, feeling well.

(sorry if that was long!)

Plus I've lost another 1lb, so that's 19 of them gone Grin

Noshowlomo · 16/03/2021 14:32

6 stone overweight and I hate myself but can't stop eating
