What's a normal daily weight loss?

I know it ends up averaging but I lost 200g overnight and feel super happy.

I go up 2lbs throughout the day because of the weight of my food. So depends on what time of day you weigh.
Could also depend on what you're wearing. What you've drink/eaten. Whether you've been to the toilet.
You're better off weighing weekly at the same time each day to get a true picture.

Fressia123 · 29/01/2021 10:48

I always weight myself first thing in the morning, after I've been to the loo. In the evening I tend to weight at least two pounds heavier than in the morning.

While weighing each day, (once a day and the same time each day) the weight-loss bit should be taken over a week. Some days you will fluctuate due to hormones or whatever.

Are you really weighing twice a day? If you are that is a very unhealthy thing to do.

Fressia123 · 31/01/2021 19:51

I do yeah... But I don't get frustrated at all. I love statistics so I like to see trends in the things I do. Or I like to calculate the weight of wet hair for example..

@Fressia123, with all due respect, that is a very unhealthy obsession with weight. What are your stats?

SnowmanDrinkingSnowballs · 31/01/2021 19:59

Two llbs a week is normal so that would be about 200g per day, just don’t get disheartened if it isn’t a smooth downwards. As long as you are losing a bit each week things are going in the right direction.

Plussizejumpsuit · 31/01/2021 20:05

I really don't think yiu should be examining weight loss down to this detail. Weight loss can be very up and down over a week or month. Looking for a loss daily overnight seems unhealthy.

Fressia123 · 31/01/2021 21:31

So I know that over the weekend there's I tend to not lose weight so I rarely weight myself on Mondays. Statistically I usually show a bigger weight loss on Thursdays and when I have my period I tend to not lose weight either.

I only write down anytime I reach a lower weight. I rarely weight myself in the evening . When I lost 4st I know the last 5 kilos made me look too thin for my liking. I look at my best with a BMI of 23. Unfortunately I've always been heavier than I look, so I do have to keep track of weight, rather than how I look.

This is pro ana craziness.
RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 21:35

Actually there’s no point trying to discuss it with you so I’m just going to report the thread, but it is pro-ana, and those kinds of thoughts are contagious amongst the susceptible.

You need to contact an eating disorder charity or therapist or speak to your GP. Flowers

ImnotCarolineHirons · 31/01/2021 21:36

Normal and daily don't really belong in the same sentence for weight loss. Chill.

How can I be anorexic when I aim for an extremely healthy BMI? Weighing daily is not uncommon, in the end it averages out. ...

OP posts:
RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 21:45

This thread is not pro ana. Daily weighing works for some people.

I don’t think you’ll find any reputable doctor, dietitian or organisation recommending daily weighing, measuring weight loss in grams, or “ calculat[ing] the weight of wet hair”. The reason for that is that those are not healthy ways of thinking or behaving.

RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 21:49

It doesn’t matter whether you are or not. Other people are anorexic (or bulimic etc) and it is really bad for them to read this irresponsible bilge.

RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 21:52

Not a word on that link about calculating weight of wet hair, weighing after going to the loo, or weighing in grams. So it doesn’t support your disordered thinking.

@RickiTarr, I reported the thread at 7:45. MNHQ have decided to leave it up for whatever reason.

RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 21:59

That’s one of their worse decisions by some way, if I am allowed to politely offer an opinion @TomorrowIsAnotherDae

RickiTarr · 31/01/2021 22:01

I will put this here for anyone who is recovering or triggered though;

Fressia123 · 31/01/2021 22:11

I've actually figured out that going to the toilet makes no difference, and wet hair I think would be 500g at most, but for me it was out of curiosity more than anything else. Like I said I'm not anorexic and apologise if this triggers anyone, that was never the intention.
