I managed to again 4 stone whilst pregnant by happily eating anything I could lay my hands on BlushMy baby is now 8 weeks old and I need to start to lose some of it (rather than gaining more with late night chocolate eating 🤦‍♀️)

There’s about 6 weeks left of 2020 and I’d love to be a step closer to fitting in my clothes by the end of it.

If you would like to lose weight and can't do it alone, join me to make this all a little easier (and keep me in line!) I don’t know what I weigh exactly but I will check and post tomorrow morning.

Hi 👋
Can I join?
I’m at least four, probably five stone over what I should be and really struggling to lose it.
Mostly because I keep eating all day.. Blush

Really fed up of it now.
Even very minor things like dashing upstairs or sex with DH I’m getting a racing heart after now as I’m so unfit.

Kakiweewee · 16/11/2020 16:44

You've done brilliant today after a bad night @picklemewalnuts

I often spend the day in bed if I've been up through the night with pain. Fortunately mine's been pretty well managed with gabapentin and naproxen. I did get some kidney or ovary pain last night, but I just blasted it with a hot water bottle until all I felt was heat instead.

Achieving your exercise after a bad night is personal goals for me! And weight loss is so often about jumping straight back on the horse after having a fall, which you're doing. So make sure you celebrate those achievements.

Kakiweewee · 16/11/2020 16:48

Hello @MrsJunglelow

Jump in, jump in. Five stone is totally achievable. I've done it since March this year. I'm on the dot at 70lbs off exactly.

Have you considered what sort of eating plan you're going to try? Exercise is really just about slow and steady and repeat often. I was still using a walking stick in March, and now I'm running in November.

That’s fantastic, well done!

I have a calorie counting app called ‘bytes check calorie counter’ where I can input everything I’ve eaten, how much exercise I’ve done and record all my measurements.

Exercise is really just about slow and steady and repeat often. I was still using a walking stick in March, and now I'm running in November
I think for me it will perhaps be more about the food.
I eat far, far too much food.
I already walk a minimum of three hours a day five days a week.
I have to be careful what exercise I do as I am prone to low blood pressure/postural hypotension so things like crunches, press ups etc can leave me feeling faint.
I have downloaded the ‘couch to 5k’ app though and am hopeful I can maybe manage it.

MrsJunglelow · 16/11/2020 17:17

NUTRA check calorie counter’, not bytes Hmm check.
Bloody auto correct.

picklemewalnuts · 16/11/2020 18:04

Hello Jungle!

Slimming world categorises food quite helpfully-
Free food (lean meat, unprocessed fruit and veg, rice, pasta)
Speed food (low fat/carb protein, low carb veg like salad stuff).
Healthy extras (measured calcium and fibre sources)

Everything else has a syn value. You limit the number of syns. (Processed things like ketchup, crisps, biscuits etc).

Kakiweewee · 16/11/2020 18:49

@picklemewalnuts that's where I started at the beginning of March.

EauDeMilk · 16/11/2020 19:04

Hi MrsJunglelow - I'm the same- it's the food that's the issue rather than the exercise.
I've not had the best start to the week eating wise. DS has his vaccinations this morning and has been unsettled all day. Consequently, I missed lunch and then was home alone for dinner so I ate a pizza
I did have fruit and oat snacks as I planned and I haven't eaten any chocolate- a tiny plus I suppose. I also walked 3.5 miles
I'm going to do some proper meal prep tomorrow.

Ugh me too.
I’m going to be much better behaved tomorrow!
I’m quite disgusted to list what I’ve actually eaten today...

  • 1 Tub of gingerbread ice cream, the whole tub... Blush
  • about half a seeded bread boule with butter
  • 2 or 3 shortbread biscuits
  • 2 slices of pizza.

DH has said I can have his spare fit bit anyway which I’m going to use from tomorrow, I’m going to start using my calorie counting app properly and really try and be more disciplined when it comes for food

MrsJunglelow · 16/11/2020 19:19

Oh! I had a Greggs sausage roll aswell!
😖

Virgo1958 · 16/11/2020 21:17

Find I can't go too low carb or I get constipation, I need All Bran or similar in the morning to keep even a bit regular. Sorry if tmi.

picklemewalnuts · 16/11/2020 21:35

Virgo! Totally agree! I've been struggling since doing SW, all the fruit and veg and chia seeds just isn't doing the job!

It could be the reduced fat, of course, because fat aids motility.
I've experimented the last few days with hot weetabix, whole meal toast, and today just more bread generally.

It may just be something I need to factor in.

EauDeMilk · 16/11/2020 21:54

Flaxseeds and dried apricots are good for constipation and easy to add to porridge or cereal. Flaxseed works in soups too.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 16/11/2020 22:03

I've been using chia, as I don't have flax in. Also chia is slightly lower calorie!

I'd forgotten apricots. I have those in.

I've had stewed rhubarb and apple, weetabix, chia, lots of fruit and veg, loads of water...

It's not getting worse, but it's not getting better either!

Kakiweewee · 16/11/2020 22:27

My total food today stands at.

Apple and banana.

Homemade veggie, lentil and bacon soup, with two slices tiny bread.

A baked potato with homemade chilli and steamed peas, carrots and green beans.

Four boiled eggs and a few slices of chicken as snacks.

It's blooming hard going without anything naughty.

picklemewalnuts · 16/11/2020 22:30

It is.

Kakiweewee · 18/11/2020 15:27

I've had a rotten cold the past couple of days, so no exercise. But I've managed to stick to the diet.

How is everyone else?

MrsJunglelow · 18/11/2020 16:38

I hope you are starting to feel better kaki

I have done fairly well today, since wearing the Fitbit and syncing the iPhone tracking with my app I have been shocked to see just how many calories I actually burn on an average day.
My dog walk today burned just under 800 calories!

Which means that my food allowance must be absolutely off the charts...
I have been good and stuck to 1,215 calories today.

EauDeMilk · 18/11/2020 16:44

Hope you're feeling better now Kakiweewee.
I've been doing terribly this week. Lack of sleep and colicky baby have resulted in me eating way too much of the wrong stuff Sad
I will do better...
How's everyone else doing?

picklemewalnuts · 22/11/2020 14:36

I lost you all!

And I've had a rubbish week! But all is not lost. I did 'speed', so low carb, for a few days hoping that would kick start the weight loss. It didn't, and just made me miserable and I had a bit of a blowout Monday Tuesday Wednesday. But I've reeled it back in and am back on the wagon.

I'm not losing weight though. I think my thyroxine levels were driving my earlier weight loss, and now it's been adjusted back down I'm losing nothing.

I've just started orlistat. So will see what that does.

All in all, I'm not feeling very optimistic. That's ok though. I don't need to enjoy it, just keep it up and gradually increase my exercise levels.

Worst case, I get fitter and stay the same weight.

MrsJunglelow · 22/11/2020 14:49

Was that by GP prescription of bought over the counter?
I’m thinking of trying this too

picklemewalnuts · 22/11/2020 15:01

GP prescription. It's twice as strong as over the counter, apparently.

I have accidentally eaten a fattier than usual meal today so I'm a bit worried! Blush it was left overs and I'd eaten a lot of it before I realised!

I was a bit despondent to be honest, having been to Lidl and seen all the Christmas food I won't be eating this year!

EauDeMilk · 22/11/2020 16:10

Glad you got back on track pickle. I really haven't done well this week, if anything, I've gained weight. However, tomorrow is Monday (!) and I will begin again. I have walked a lot this week at least.
I've also slept a bit more than the previous weeks so am feeling more motivated now. We can do this! The Christmas food is hard to see- especially the mini butter stollen in lidl...

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 22/11/2020 16:22

I don't think I'd better list the things I fancied in Lidl.... it could take a while!

Kakiweewee · 22/11/2020 17:09

I'm alive!

What a crap week. Why couldn't my appetite have gone with the cold huh? Still I managed to stick to the very cut back meal plan in an attempt to shift the weight. No exercise because I'm not running when I can't breathe properly to start with.

Weighed in and I'm 14st 6lbs, so I've shifted 2lbs off this week. That's a total of 71lbs off which means the five stone is now secure with an extra pound off. Phew.

I think I've had to come below 1200 calories to shift some weight, so I'll have another cut back week and see if that maybe just kick starts the loss long term, or if that's just how it is now.

I'm sorry y'all have had rubbish weeks, every day is a new one though. It's taken me nine months to shift five stone, so I am expecting the other five to take twice as long, hitting the right time with the right circumstances took me a long time.
