Hello there!
Im a mum of a little boy who is soon to be 3 and im fed up of being FAT-Ive yoyoed up and down about 2 stone since he was born and now i need to really get this weight licked.
Im planning on doing weight watchers and wondered if there is anyone in the Essex UK area.
Also am planning weekly updates with weigh in and moral boosting.
Sean (ds) has just started nursery 2 mornings a week and the gym (LA Fitness)is right next door (so no excuse) I'm going to go on his school mornings and both weekend days-I also walk the dog for between 30-60 mins each morning but that can be slow going with my little one in tow!
Please join me, im sure that if we all band together and spur each other on we can do this!!!

Weight:13st 2
Target:10st10

Hi everyone, I'm still here. Been doing quite well. I have signed up for the weight management programme at my gym and I'm currently recording what I eat and drink during a one week period so that the instructor can give some constructive dietary advice. Been doing well, have cut out wine during the week and not had any chocolate this week although I have been desperate at times! Had a disasater last night, for various reasons just ran out of time and ended up with a takeaway curry and a bottle of wine. Trying to think of this positively as I said no to a starter and only drank half the bottle of wine, which is an improvement on what would normally happen. Have been to the gym and an exercise class too. So I am trying. Its hard getting to the gym for lots of reasons but I do love it when I get there, I stick my head phones on and have time out which is just mine, I'm not a mum or a wife I'm just me sweating and panting my way round the equipment. Been told not to weigh myself till Wednesday, so no idea if this is all making any difference. I do feel less stodgy if that makes any sense.

Hey onemoreday
I think your attitude is spot on-Eat healthily (sp) cut back on a few things but dont cut them out completly-I really think this is the key to long term weight loss.
And as you begin to feel better in yurself then I think that spurs you on to lose more.
Good luck with it anyway, Ive got to ask about the weight management thing at my gym too.

Hi everyone, a, I too late to join?

Have been trying to lose since birth of dd in feb. Was 15st 11lbs then , am now 12st 4lbs, but have been for the last 2 months. Just cant seem to lose the last bit . Would love to get to 11st by xmas but will very happily settle for 11 and 1/2. Is it possible to lose stone by xmas?

WideWebWitch · 23/10/2004 12:12

I'm joining you too. I've given up dairy and drinking in the week and carbs with my evening meal and so far I reckon I've lost a bit but I could do with some support and can't be arsed to go to ww. No idea what I weigh but want to be a size 14 again.

nickiey · 23/10/2004 12:46

righto wicked and cuppy-nice to have you onboard.
Good luck and keep us posted-spesh if you have any good low fat recpies! (pref incl chocolate!)

Hi cuppy and nickiey. Glad you think my approach is sensible, I've tried everything in the past and when I sat down to think about why I am overweight I knew the answers, not enough exercise and too much chocolate, alcohol and take aways. So I am trying to take a balanced approach and cut back because if you tell me I can't have something I want it even more. The weight management programme at the gym seems good and writing down everything (and I mean everything) I eat and drink has been quite an eye opener and has helped me recognise when I was stuffing calories in without realising. So top tip- write down everything that passes your lips for a week then take a long hard look at it! As for how much weight can be lost before christmas, ideally I'd love to drop 4 stone! but it ain't gonna happen! (not without lighterlife and I just can't do that at present). So I'm working on the theory that last year at the christmas party I was wearing a size 18 and felt horrible. My target is therefore to be below an 18 and as I am an 18/20 at the moment that seems feasible. The 4 stone I want to loose by my birthday in April so that I can go on my usual spending spree and really enjoy it!

Congrats to you Nickiey , well done.

Well I finished the week off on the bad side, after going out for a massive italian last night and having the works - garlic ciabatta, ciabatta with mozzarella, carbonara, profiterols, 3 bbreezers, 2 glasses of wine and 1 big fat cappucino! Oh and 2 ferrero roche.
OMG looking at it written down makes me feel like a real pig!! .

But today is another week and my first real week since joining so I'm going to really try. I went out for a walk this moring for 1hr 20mins, so thats kick started my week I hope.
Good luck to all.

Right, I only need to lose half a stone to feel OK again, but could really do with a stone (its never going to happen). Will be using this thread as a support network.

My weaknesses - cold curry at 10.30 in the morning and all kids leftovers. Cakes.

Currently weigh 11 stone 1, would like to be 10 and a half stone.

nickiey · 25/10/2004 22:07

Oh Sobernow-dont worry, its just good you didnt go too crazy-its always hard when youve got visitors anyway.
Enid-Im glad you want to use this thread as support as thats really what i need it for too.
Right now dh is away on work and there is a big bar of galaxy on the side winking at me.
I think im going to bed to avoid it.

I've had a bad week so far, despite promising I wouldnt. My problem is I'm really good during the day, then I get home late and my priority is to feed dd, and I dont get to eat myself till shes in bed at 7ish. But by this time I've probably snacked on a pack of jaffa cakes or 4 penguin bars as I havent eaten since 12.30.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Whats helping me is this

Inside the cupboard door of the biscuit cupboad i have a picture of myself aged 18 when i was a size 10. I frequently open said cupboard but never get further than that!
I also find following a certain diet helpful as left to my own devices i will convinve myself that fish n chips is really healthy as its just cod and potato-shameful!

I've lost half a stone this week!!!!!!! All thanks to Atkins - he is my hero. I could kiss him. Oh, he is dead I think, so possibly I wont kiss him. But if I could, I would!!

miam · 29/10/2004 08:43

Oooops, sorry ladies, wrong thread. But I dont mind you all knowing either!!!

cuppy · 30/10/2004 11:37

It was weigh in yeasterday but I didnt do it as I have been really poorly and didnt want any bad news on top of a cold! (bad excuse I know)
However, I did try on a pair of trousers that last week I couldnbt do up and I zipped them up fine. So thats good news, hows everyoine elso done this week?

onemoreday · 08/11/2004 08:57

I'm still here cuppy, although this thread seems to have tailed off a bit. Not weighed myself recently, but have joined ediets through Tesco web site and started Atkins yesterday! going to combine it with my fitness campaign! Congratulations on getting your trousers on.

cuppy · 08/11/2004 21:11

Hi Onemoreday - glad youre sticking with it - maybe the others arent doing so well and thats why we're so quiet?! Come on everyone , dont give up!!!!
Well I went back up to 12 4 this week - a few weeks ago I was 12 2 - if I want to lose weight I really have to be very good - not just careful - and I really do not have the motivation right now. I just bought patsy palmer workout though and have ordered a walkers walkometer so maybe that will inspire me!!!
