If you were going to throw money at weight loss...

Where would you throw it?
I need to lose 2 stone and just can't get started. Has anyone successfully chucked money at it.
I suspect I need to plan better but under a lot of stress just now and everything is a bit chaotic

Hmm.
If I had unlimited money for weight loss, all I can think of to spend it on would be:
Sirloin steak
Running shoes
A new swimsuit and pool membership.

I’ve done exactly this. Didn’t have huge amounts of money to throw at it but I shuffled my budget around. I pay £19 per month for Noom, £50 per month for a nice-ish gym with a pool, and about an extra £10 a week on nicer meal ingredients and more fresh fruit.

With a bit of extra cash I’d get therapy and personal training, maybe down the line.

I’ve lost two stone in 3 months (but still several more to go unfortunately).

I’m in a position where I have some spare money to spend on weight loss and appearance, not unlimited by a long way like having a pool built or live in chefs but I live in the middle of nowhere and I can’t get a pt that will come to the house or I would get one.

I’m spending more than I would usually on good food, lots of tofu for me and packs of steak for DH. I have a small gym in my house with a barbell and some dumbbells and second hand spin bikes. I also have a Les Mills subscription.

Having this on hand a few meters from my bedroom doesn’t make me use it as much as I should.

Having a smart watch of some description probably also helps, steps use up a lot of calories so if you are only on day 5000 going to 15000 each day would burn off the fat faster.

I also bought some new clothes so I thought if I looked better I might feel better and take better care of myself with diet and exercise. Wearing tighter fitting clothes and staying away from the hoodies has actually really helped.

I also got a great coat and gloves so that I can go outside for walks all year round. When I met DH I never had a North Face type coat just winter work type coats. Having this means we do much more in The colder weather.

Can anyone tell me how Saxenda works, do you need to have a particular BMI like for weight loss surgery? Am I correct in thinking it is an injection?

uggmum · 02/09/2020 18:56

It comes in the form of an injection pen. Pre-loaded with the drug. Very thin needle. You can barely feel it.

You start at a smaller dose and then gradually build up.

You need to eat a healthy diet and exercise.

The drug switches your hunger off almost immediately. I am never hungry and I don't crave sweet stuff. It also slows down your digestion so you are fuller for longer.

You can usually get 5 pens for around £300. It's available at online
Pharmacies. I think your bmi needs to be above 30.

I’d go on one of those two week long boot camp things to kick start motivation.

PurpleDaisies · 02/09/2020 18:59

Personal trainer without a doubt.

I looked the best I ever have when I had mine.

ImperfectTents · 03/09/2020 16:04

Yesterday was a bit of a low point, so I have signed up for a boot camp. At least the evenings I am at boot camp I won't be sitting at home mainlining Jaffa cakes. Thank you everyone for your replies. Here's to a new me.

I was thinking of going to a fat farm to kick start my weight loss. Even made a booking but it was withdrawn as it was the week of lockdown. Instead, I spent the same amount of money on personal training sessions several times a week. I've not lost much weight (about half a stone) but I've not been on a diet either. The sessions have made me feel so much better about my body. It's stronger and thinner (clothes hanging off me due to legs being toned not flabby now and stomach getting there too). I also have so much more energy. I jump up to answer the door, the house phone, run upstairs to talk to DH instead of shouting up the stairwell etc.
I'd go for fitness sessions if you have some money to spend.
