Oh lord - poor things.

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 20/09/2007 10:47

Jackie - how is dd today?

OP posts:
JackieNo · 20/09/2007 12:37

WWB - she's still off school today, as her mouth is still quite sore, but seems otherwise absolutely fine. I've just taken her into town, and felt a bit of a fraud: I could just sense people looking (as I would) and thinking 'Why isn't that child in school?'. But she's definitely going back tomorrow.

How's your DD doing? Are you doing extra washing this morning, or did last night go OK? And how are you feeling?

WigWamBam · 20/09/2007 12:43

Am feeling as if I've run into a brick wall.

But there are no wet sheets today I took her for a wee at about 11pm, and she woke up dry this morning. So I am doing a happy jiggy dance!

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 20/09/2007 12:47

Hmm, where did the rest of my post go??

Glad dd is feeling OK, don't blame you at all for not sending her to school today.

I tend to find myself making pointed and rather loud remarks when dd is off school and we're out and about, just so that people know she's not skiving. "When your BUBONIC PLAGUE is better and you're back at school ...", that sort of thing.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 20/09/2007 13:09

Yay for the no wet sheets - well done you and her. But about the brick wall. Hope you can get some result from the doctor tomorrow. Though I guess it may be more along the lines of various avenues to explore, rather than a firm diagnosis.

WigWamBam · 20/09/2007 13:15

I expect so, yes.

Am very chuffed about the dry bed - so is dd. Is definitely progress. I have always doubted the benefit of waking a child for a wee, but with her seeming to only need to wee once in the night it just seems to cry out for it.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 20/09/2007 13:19

It's working, and that's what counts. Well done you for waiting till she's ready for it (not that, realistically, there's a whole lot you could do, without resigning yourself to daily sheet washing, I guess). And good for her for knowing she's ready.

WigWamBam · 20/09/2007 13:36

Oh, there was absolutely no point in even trying before. Apart from which I am too lazy to want to change sheets three times a night and wash them every day

She's been really good about it - she hates nappies with a passion but hates wet beds even more, and was sensible enough to realise which was the lesser of the two evils.

Weigh-in day, everyone. I've stayed the same, which is fine.

JackieNo · 21/09/2007 08:53

Was I really the only person weighing in? Good luck at the doctors today, WigWamBam.

littlemisssensible · 21/09/2007 09:52

Hi All,

Just popping in to say I didn't weigh! Been at Thurrock for a VAT inspection (plus vast spending opportunities at Lakeside Spent way too much but mostly on small girl!

Will catch up later but need to do some actual work today

Hope all went well with dd's tooth JackieNo and I hope all is well with you WWB!

MrsJohnCusack · 21/09/2007 10:12

I have stayed the same. something of a miracle considering the amount of chocolate and other crap I've been consuming to keep me going through the last ultra busy and sleepless 2 weeks....

TigerFeet · 21/09/2007 10:38

Kewcumber - so sorry to hear of your friend's hh hope she is bearing up ok (well as much as possible under the circs)

How's dd today JackieNo?

LMS, sounds like you had a good day at Thurrock, despite the VAT stuff

WWB, have posted on your other thread.

Mrs JC I reckon you have burned all those extra calories up with ds... bit of an extreme way to counter a chocolate fest though

I've had some sad news this week too - a guy I used to work with a few years ago died from a brain tumour on Wednesday . He was 31, married with a young son. I haven't seen him for a good while, I moved away from the city I was living in at the time, but when we worked together we were both part of a group of about 8 of us from work who were all single and were out drinking together most weekends. He was a good bloke and I am gutted. I thought I saw him a couple of years ago but wasn't sure so I didn't approach him - I really wish I had now.

WigWamBam · 21/09/2007 10:53

Sorry to hear your bad news, Tiger. 31 is just so young, his family must be devastated.

I will sort the weights out in a bit - just got back from the GPs. He reckons it's probably fibroids, but the bleeding has to stop before I can have it checked out. He's given me some tablets to stop the bleeding, and made me an appointment to see someone else at the surgery in ten days - one of the GPs at the practice is also a consultant at the Birmingham Women's Hospital and she specialises in this kind of thing. I also have to get some blood tests done, and have a smear just to be on the safe side, and I may need to be referred for scans and biopsies, depending on what the GP finds and where.

How's your dd, Jackie?

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 21/09/2007 11:13

WWB what are you on in this Scrabble game

glad to hear the GP was helpful and I do hope you get some answers soon

all these sad deaths of young DHs - I might go and give mine a cuddle

WigWamBam · 21/09/2007 11:21

It's all in the tiles

My dh is working from home this morning; have already counted my blessings and given him a hug. It just doesn't bear thinking about, does it.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 21/09/2007 11:31

MrsJC - sorry to hear you're still having a bad time (but keeping the weight off is a small, very small silver lining).

TigerFeet, sorry to hear your sad news. Kewcumber - hope your friend is doing OK, as much as one can in these circumstances.

WWB - glad there's some progress and a possible diagnosis, even if it's early days. How was your DD last night? Still doing OK?

DD is fine today, thanks - she's even gone back to school. I'd booked today off, so have decided not to just go in to work, but to have some time on my own in the house (hasn't happened for ages). Have had a bit of a sort-out of DS's books, and shelves in his room, and might go for a run in a bit.

WigWamBam · 21/09/2007 11:51

Enjoy your time off while you can, Jackie!

Dd was fine again last night; she woke up at 11 because she'd lost her pillow so I took her to the toilet then, and she was fine until I got her up this morning. So it seems to be working ... and it's been a real boost to her confidence.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 21/09/2007 20:10

apparently her DH dies form a rare genetic heart condition. I don;t think they knew he had it. He was 32. Poor family. Sadly I can't make it to the funeral as I have a board meeting but there will be a decent MN turn out. We have sent them some fancy hand made biscuits decorated as creepy crawlies for her DS and will send a wreath to the funeral.

I hve forgotten to weigh but will pop over to Boots in the morning (bit late I know but better late than never)

Kewcumber · 21/09/2007 20:11

nice that your DD is getting more confident. Its really not that uncomman to be wetting the bed much older than her but no-one much talks about it. At least waking her for a wee makes her feel better in the morning and hopefully in a while it won;t be necessary

TigerFeet · 24/09/2007 09:38

That's so sad Kewcumber

My friend's funeral is on Wednesday, it isn't too far away from here so I am hoping to go but the office is a bit Marie Celeste this week so not sure if I will be able to take time off.

In other news... we noticed dd has a wandering eye this weekend so am taking her to the quack this evening to get it checked out. My dsis had patches for a couple of years as a child so we are probably going to end up with them for L. [sigh]

How is your dd this week JackieNo? Hopefully completely recovered

WBB, I take it from your Facebook profile that the bleeding has stopped How's dd getting on at night?

Are you being thrashed at scrabble by WWB too MrsJC ?

MrsJohnCusack · 24/09/2007 10:06

I am Tiger! WWB is on FIRE at the old Scrabble at the moment

Kewcumber · 24/09/2007 10:22

tee hee - just beat WWB at scrabble (first time ever) and it was close...

TigerFeet · 24/09/2007 10:46

Oh well done Kewc
