Wow Jackie, that's really good! Well done you

I'm not really up to talking about deeeeeep eating related stuff atm, may well pop back later and bore you all senseless lots and lots of things are spiralling out of control atm because of my complete inability to kick myself up the arse [sigh] Trust me Kewcumber & LMS, I will make you feel good about yourselves with my patheticness (is that a word?)

Right, am going now to DO SOME WORK!!!

TigerFeet · 18/09/2007 11:37

Oh x posts with lots of people, glad to hear Master Cusack is sleeping better now MrsJC (does this mean you aren't going to post him to me now? )

WigWamBam · 18/09/2007 11:38

It doesn't have to be deep stuff, Tiger. Just talk - we're here if you need to. You never know - we might even make some sense

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 18/09/2007 11:48

nope Tiger I've decided to keep him after all - he is REALLY cute I have to say, such a happy little baby, all smiles and laughing

I have to start feeding solids though and I just can't be arsed - isn't that awful? I must get on with it

littlemisssensible · 18/09/2007 11:52

Ohhhh. No one told me I had to make sense WWB!

WigWamBam · 18/09/2007 11:53

Actually, you're right. Talking sense? Us? Whatever was I thinking of?

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 18/09/2007 11:55

Just cook some carrot sticks MrsJC and shove them in his general direction (I believe it's called Baby Led Weaning ) and is All The Rage.

No, please don't talk sense, not sure I could cope with that!

Bibble bibble hatstand fruitcake

MrsJohnCusack · 18/09/2007 12:05

yes i have given him some steamed carrot sticks and he is Not Impressed

no sense please

WigWamBam · 18/09/2007 12:49

Fruitcake?

Did someone say cake?

That's more like it

Dd wouldn't have given you two hoots for carrot sticks when she was six months old. Nice bit of banana, or some mushed up apple and peach and she would have had your hand off, but she didn't get her taste for carrots until much later.

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 18/09/2007 13:24

Fruitcake. With lots of glace cherries. Yum.

How's dd getting on WWB?

WigWamBam · 18/09/2007 13:33

Caaaaake ...

She's fine thanks, TF - wet beds notwithstanding! She's decided she doesn't want to wear PJ pants anymore but isn't quite ready not to wear them Am considering waking her for a wee at 10pm, although I always swore that wasn't something I'd do. The last couple of nights she's had a wee at 10 (was awake once, and even made it to the toilet - first time ever) but then been dry until morning. So progress ... and should help with the infections/soreness too.

JackieNo · 18/09/2007 15:31

Thank you for the congratulations everyone . I am remarkably proud of myself, because I didn't really think I'd get this far (thought I'd just end up giving it up).

Agalch - I just go round and round the fields behind our house - it's not very exciting, though pretty, but while it was fine while I was not getting very far, I think the time is coming when I'll have to brave sarcastic wolf whistles and cars hooting at me to make me jump, and get out on the streets.

TigerFeet - I have had to stop MNing at work, because a colleague mentioned that someone had asked him whether I had enough work to do because I was 'always on the internet'. I took it as a timely warning, and have barely MNed at work since.

JackieNo · 19/09/2007 11:52

WigWamBam - thank you very much for the parcel from DD - it's just arrived: perfect timing. DD is thrilled with it, and with the alien magnets. She opened one of the puzzle books and said 'Yay, maths, my favourite'. (long may that last!). We're off in an hour or so, so will report back in later, once it's all over. .

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 13:48

Glad it got there OK, Jackie.

How's she doing? Been thinking about her. Dd asked about her this morning as well - sends her love.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 19/09/2007 15:13

Phew - back already, and all is fine. We got there early, so they saw us early. DD was very brave, right up to the point when she was lying on the bed and they were starting to try to get the cannula into her hand. THey ended up giving her gas via the mask, then once she was asleep putting the cannula in. Over in a flash, and they kept telling us what was going on, and then we went through once she was waking up. They say she might be able to go back to school tomorrow, but I'm going to wait and see how she is.

TigerFeet · 19/09/2007 15:16

Glad to hear it went well, bet your all relieved it's done with now

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 16:07

Glad it went well - hope it doesn't cause her too much discomfort now.

Not surprised she didn't want the canula in; they're bad enough for an adult, let alone a child.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 19/09/2007 16:17

Thanks both. I'm very relieved. So relieved, in fact, that I've eaten a load of chocolate. It was supposed to be for DD and me to share once her mouth was feeling a bit better (double ). There's still a lot left (it was a very big bar).

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 18:15

Oh, I should think chocolate is forgiveable

And you can always buy another bar to share with dd when she's feeling better ...

OP posts:
JackieNo · 19/09/2007 18:56

Well there is still some chocolate left, but probably not much after tonight. DH is now away for the night - had to head off once we were home from the hospital, and you know what I'm like when he's away.

How are you doing WWB? And your DD? I spotted a thread about you trying the 10pm wee - is it still working?

Kewcumber · 19/09/2007 19:52

I am in shock - one of the west london mumsnetter's DH died on Sunday. Don't know how yet but he was only in his 30's and they have a 4 yr old DS

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 19:53

She only had the one wee last night again.

Sadly it wasn't at 10pm when I took her to the toilet - she couldn't do one then. It was at 1am and we had tears and a wet bed.

She still wants to keep trying though, so has gone to bed without a nappy on again.

Am ready to be washing sheets in the morning again ...

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 19:53

Bloody hell, Kew - what an awful shock. And so young

Who was it?

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 19/09/2007 20:00

2Cute - she doesn;t post much except on the West London threads but I knew her personally and some of my ealriest photos of DS in this country are from her DS's birthday party. She must be absolutely devastated. Poor girl - it was her 30th in the summer and they hadn't long got back form a week in Hawaii celebrating it.

JackieNo · 19/09/2007 20:25

OMG Kew, how horrible. Poor, poor things.
