No my scales aren't buggered, I just haven't weighed myself since just after I had DD. I thought I was pretty lardy and bloated then but my clothes have all but fallen off me in the last month and so I thought I'd find out what I'd lost and THREE STONE!!!!

...and I'm still breastfeeding!!!!

I'm under eleven stone for the first time in two years having bloated horribly during fertility treatment, then ate crap throughout my pregnancy.

But it's gone! Now I want to lose another stone so I can get back into my leather jeans.

BTW if anyone is interested, Paul Mckenna, every night, 24 minutes, hypnotherapy.

fimble, ASM will come and answer this, but I just wanted to say that the idea of PMK and indeed and HT for weightloss I think, is that you eat as and when you are hungry. PMK has some healthy principles in his books, about drinking water and taking exercise, but it's also important not to deprive yourself, which leads us to think about food even more, and thus, put so much importance on the damn stuff! So as far as I've understood from reading the book and listening to the CD, there are 4 principles.

You need to eat when you are hungry - so drink some water to see if it's really thirst, sure, but if you are hungry EAT.

Eat what you want, not what you think you should - if you want some chocolate, have some! But remember you only need enough to satisfy.

Eat consciously, enjoying every mouthful - this will help you to eat more slowly and register when you are full, which takes around 20 minutes.

Stop when you even think you are full.

On the point about eating what you want, I have been doing that but have actually found I have naturally not wanted the chocolate. The freedom and confidence to eat what I want and when I need it, has allowed me to drop the obsession with, say, going into a shop for a mag and coming out with a family sized bar of choc and eating it in the car on the way home.

My WHOLE attitude has changed, and I am not joking. But as the OP said a few posts ago, people scoff at it, so I don't usually broadcast the fact I have had HT. Seeing this thread and the OP's amazing success, just made me feel even more confident and overwhelmed with the thought that HT is actually going to work for me!

HorseyWoman · 04/09/2007 10:43

fimble, Just wanted to say as well, I spoke to someone who went on one of the PMK seminars, and she said that she found that by listening to her body and only eating when hungry, her body actually fell into a routine of a certain number of meals/snacks a day. Think about when you have had your meal at around 6 or 7pm and go to bed... when you wake up, say about 7am, about half an hour later you feel hungry, don't you? Or at least I do! That's when to have breakfast. Then just follow your body.. You will find meals fall into place easier than you think.

Fimbles5 · 04/09/2007 10:48

You must think I am really dim!! - Are you saying that if at dinner time (when the family would normally eat together) I am not hungry I should not sit down for the meal. I am so desperate to lose weight, that I want to get this right. Have done really well, this morning after last nights CD, and feeling positive that this may be a turning point - hopefully!! Sorry for troubling you all with trivial questions.

Fimbles5 · 04/09/2007 10:50

Sorry horseywoman - messages crossed. Thanks for your input. I can do this!!

OrmIrian · 04/09/2007 10:58

Listening to your body is very important. The only meal I make myself eat is breakfast. Once that's out of the way I eat when I'm hungry and don't when I'm not - mealtimes or not.

HorseyWoman · 04/09/2007 11:20

Fimble - you are not dim!!! I don't have children but have been a nanny, so I understand the need for at least some structure. As OrmIrian said, though, if you aren't hungry, don't eat, otherwise you fall back into the trap. Usually, by morning, if you have eaten at a sensible time the night before (ie, not gone for takeaway or out for meal or something), you are ravenous. If you eat that breakfast, your body should fall into a natural pattern and that may or may not follow your normal mealtimes. I find that if I eat breakfast and then go to the stables, by 11ish I need something, but may not need to eat again til supper time, depending what time we will eat that evening. Some days, I will go all day without eating and have found myself having to remind myself to listen to the fact I am hungry. In the past I'd have had to remind myself to listen to the fact I am NOT hungry!

You can do this! You want it so you can do it. Look at OP - AMAZING!

mckenzie · 04/09/2007 14:28

thank you everyone who has posted in this thread as you have given me the kick up the backside that I needed tog et the CD out again. Like frazzledbutcalm I'm not overweight buit I do have a terrible relationship with food and only manage to control my figure and weight because i love to exercise.
I went on the seminar in January of this year and used one of the group sessions that PM did there to stop my choclate 'addiction' (I haven't eaten a bar of chocolate or an individual chocolate since). I came home and listened to the CD religiously for about a month but i didn't see that it helped my particular problems.
But, I've still got the CD by my bedside so tonight i am going to start again with a clear and positive mind and make it work for me, or rather make it help me to make it work. It's up to me isn't it? The actual CD isn't going to work magic, I've got to make it happen.

Good luck to everyone.

theamazingshrinkingmummy · 04/09/2007 15:21

Fimbles - I eat normal food, three times a day but it's not about limiting yourself it's about learning to recognise when you are hungry and when you aren't and only eating when you are hungry. Also for me, I want to be thinner more than I want cake

OP posts:
theamazingshrinkingmummy · 04/09/2007 15:23

Horseywoman has it about right - but for me I stop eating when I think I might be full and wait a minute or two to see if I'm right. I normally am - I could go another couple of mouthfuls but what would be the point? Each time I recognise that I'm getting full, I'm getting thinner IYSWIM?

theamazingshrinkingmummy · 04/09/2007 15:25

Well said McKenzie - good luck to you. I was somewhat like you before I had DD - would happily run ten miles to allow me to eat crap all day!

Yesterday I intentionally parked two miles from my destination at the top of a very steep hill and walked pushing DD there and back (back was v. hard). But it was worth it because I know now I can do it and next time it will be easier.

HorseyWoman · 04/09/2007 16:07

Exactly shrinking woman! The more you do something, the more you want to do it (or I do), too, and I believe that is directly linked to realising you can do it! I recently started riding my horse again and am absolutely hooked!

I don't usually get to full, because before I get that pressure on my tummy, I suddenly feel nauseous when I think about having anymore.

Good luck, everyone.

lomondgal · 08/09/2007 21:42

Well done!! goes to dig out Paul McKenna books and cd's that have hardly been opened/played!

Tottie32 · 08/09/2007 21:46

notsofarnow · 08/09/2007 22:14

Tottie32 · 08/09/2007 22:20

i have a pack with 6 cd's in and never know which i am supposed to be listening to

Fimbles5 · 09/09/2007 06:49

notsofarnow - The book is called "I can make you slim", by Paul Mckenna. It comes with the CD to use in conjunction with the book. I think you can get it of amazon. It has been out for ages. Good Luck. (Oh, and by the way I always fall asleep listening to it, and usually miss the end where he says, when I count backwards from 10 you will wake up fully refreshed!! I usually wake up and the CD has finished. Oops.)

I have just dusted off my copy too. Shall we set up a thread supporting each other, or does everyone want to do it on their own??

Fimbles5 · 19/09/2007 13:23

Hippipotami - I will follow your lead, a thread would be a good idea. I dusted off my copy just over a fortnight ago and have listened to the CD every night since. I lost 2lbs the first week, and plan to weigh in for week two tomorrow. I feel so much better about myself so hopefully this may be working. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow. X

Tottie32 · 19/09/2007 13:24

do you listen at night to cd?

LilRedWG · 19/09/2007 13:34

Congratulations to all of you - especially the OP!!!

I've just reserved 'I can make you thin' online with the library. I need to change my attitude to food and lose some weight.

whomovedmychocolate · 19/09/2007 13:41

Tottie32 - where did you get the six CD version - I'm a tad bored with the one CD one (though I'm now a size 8 so one might say I don't need the full thing).
