Anyone fancy joining me in a fast-track weight loss & makeover plan for the first two weeks of Feb?

I had an asthma attack without my inhaler yesterday and it really scared me. I'm sur eit's connected to having got so overweight. It made me realise I MUST take self-care seriously.

So for the next two weeks I'm on a strict fresh veg and protein diet with exercise and a mini makeover every day.

Today: berries for breakfast; homemade veg soup for lunch; salad for dinner.
Walk and kettlebell workout for exercise.
Home manicure for makeover.

Come and join me if you want support for doing something that is difficult and leaves you hungry but you'll do it anyway because the weight has to go.

I’ll join. I want to kick start my weight loss as quickly as possible. I’m going to start the james Duncan diet on Monday and do yoga or cycling every day

wibblewibble · 03/02/2019 16:23

Please can I join? Tried to do low cal in jan with mfp but unimaginable success. Need a kickstart and to stop the snacking!

OneStepMoreFun · 03/02/2019 21:53

Hi User - Good luck on the James Duncan.

Hi Wibble. I decided not to do MFP this time. All that logging of food is dreary and it kind of makes me obsessive about it.

This time I'm trying to keep things really simple. I know white flour and sugar are my binge triggers so they are both banned. I'm sticking to loads of veg and salad with some fruit and some lean protein: chicken, eggs, fish, a bit of cheese and red meat. I've written out a menu plan for the week and bought what I need for it, so no excuses.

I have two stone to lose but I really want to lose the first 5-7lbs in the next 2 weeks, because as soon as I can feel the difference in my clothes, I get motivated.

I'm in!
I did quite well last summer on a very strict low carb diet - didn't find it too hard once I got my head round the rules although I was bit hungry from time to time - but I have piled it all on again and I could do with some moral support. Another asthmatic here - due a review at the GP and I know that I will be told to lose weight! And I also get motivated by a bit of a sharp loss at the beginning.
I will weigh myself tomorrow morning and start from there. Probably didn't help that I had some old bananas and made a banana cake today! I will take it into work (what's left of it...) and hand it out.

beela · 03/02/2019 22:00

Can join you?

I only have a little bit to lose but I need to get back on track before a weekend away with friends at the start of half term, which is bound to involve a lot of food and drink.

beela · 03/02/2019 22:02

thoswontendwell we've made banana cake too! It was a special request from the dc. I have frozen half of it, otherwise it will sit around in the cake tin calling my name.

Thiswontendwell · 03/02/2019 22:07

Wibble - I absolutely hated MFP!

I plan to cut out all (well as much as I can) carbs and all alcohol (as much as I can!) and sugar and drink loads of water. I will reduce things like cheese and other dairy and up the fruit and veg big time. It worked quite well last time. I didn't do any calorie counting but I did try to exercise more.

OneStepMoreFun · 04/02/2019 11:14

Morning everyone. Welcome Thiswontendwell and Beela.

I am really weak willed usually, so I've made a list of my usual excuses along with a list of stuff to do if I get tired/grumpy/hungry/ full of self pity at not being allowed cake! Grin Hoping this will stop me giving up.

Good idea onestep

I'm not doing low carb as such but want to stick to my no-s properly this fortnight (the snacks and sweets have been creeping back).

Today my plan is:
B - oat milk porridge with dates and pecans, and half a pear
L - rye bread with mushroom pate, handful of kettle chips
T - gammon with lots of green veg. Will do mash for everyone else.

Drinks - water and rooibos tea.

What's everyone else having?

OneStepMoreFun · 04/02/2019 16:32

I had
Breakfast: strawberries with greek yoghurt
Lunch: two bowls of veggie cabbage soup (home made - I quite like it) and a rye thin - just one as I hate that keto flu thing so am trying to avoid it with tiny bits of carb
Dinner will be chicken breast with dry roast veg: leeks, peppers, butternut squash and salad.

I feel a bit hungry but not in that horrible raid-the-fridge-eat-everything-in-sight way you get with sugar and carb cravings.

Agree MFP is a pain but I seem to go really off piste if I don’t write down what I’m eating. Trying to drink loads of water and avoid temptations...

Thiswontendwell · 04/02/2019 19:33

Did my weigh in!
Gawd.....
Grin
Have had loads of salad today and having veggie burgers with more veg for tea...
Did have a bit of the banana cake I made but left most of it at work...
Feel a bit fluey which is actually helping me as I feel a little sick....not the best diet strategy!

OneStepMoreFun · 04/02/2019 20:57

Wibble, I agree about writing it all down. But MFP is such a slow faff for something that turns out to be guesswork.. A single banana ranges in calories from 75-300 on there. I'm never sure what to put.

Today: strawberries and greek yoghurt
tea and coffee both with milk (because I forgot not to add it and once I start...)
2 bowls of veggie soup and a rye thin cracker for lunch
Dry roast veg with chickpeas for tea
No snacks but a few cups of tea during the day.

THiswont I think a good shock at a weigh in can help you stick to the tough first few weeks.

OP posts:
wibblewibble · 05/02/2019 10:20

But a good weigh in makes me think I can relax, treat myself and then the weight is back....the sabotage is so frustrating. Trying to identify non food treats!

OneStepMoreFun · 05/02/2019 16:36

Good point wibble. I haven't had a good weigh in for so long, I haven't faced that problem! Grin

OP posts:
OneStepMoreFun · 05/02/2019 16:39

Non food treats:
new nail polish
home manicure
home pedicure
facemask
home facial
download a favourite movie
download a new album
new book
new journal
fresh flowers
good quality bath oils/salts/bubbles
hair treatment
body massage
new accessories
candlelit bath
binge-watching comedies
night out at a comedy club
go to a gig

OP posts:
Thiswontendwell · 05/02/2019 19:46

The treat idea is great Onestep
Not a great day
Forgot my soup for lunch and ended up having a scone with clotted cream and jam as someone had brought them in!
Grin
Going for plain steamed salmon and veg tonight!

OneStepMoreFun · 05/02/2019 23:16

I had a glass of wine. Not on the menu. But only one, so not too bad.

macmacaroon · 05/02/2019 23:48

Me too

beela · 06/02/2019 07:39

And me. Cheers Wine

Other than that I've done quite well, but my attempts to exercise keep getting derailed. I was meant to go to an exercise class yesterday but had to stay in for the dishwasher repair man. Then today I was going to go swimming but have an evening meeting.

I've done hiit workouts instead so at least I've got a bit in.

OneStepMoreFun · 06/02/2019 11:16

Beela brilliant that you've done the HIIT workouts instead. I managed one but have hobbles since then, though I did go swimming yesterday and for a walk with a friend instead of just sitting in a cafe.

OP posts:
beela · 06/02/2019 22:15

onestep Well done, a walk instead of the cafe is a double win... You got some exercise AND you avoided the cake temptation Cake

I've stuck to my three meals today:

  • Coconut yoghurt with stewed rhubarb and a spoonful of granola
  • Big bowl of soup
  • Omelette with salad and halloumi

.... Plus a biscuit (because there were some really posh ones at work that I wanted to try Blush)

OneStepMoreFun · 07/02/2019 08:40

Hmm. I was not very good yesterday. I usually fall off a diet on day 3. I had a bag of crisps and some crispbread with peannut butter mid afternoon because i was tired and grumpy and hungry and busy with work but couldn;t concentrate because of hunger (my excuse).

But - I did get back on the horse. Very light dinner of omelette and salad, no wine, no sugar, no refined carbs (except for those crisps. Ready Salted are my downfall.) And today I feel ready to keep going. At least overall yesterday wasn't a calorie gaining day.

OneStepMoreFun · 07/02/2019 08:41

How is everyone else doing?
Sticking to food plan?
Getting any exercise?
If you slipped up, come back. We are going to do this.
