I've got a stone to lose - anyone else?

weigh 11 and want to get back to 10 - gonna do it be exercise, cutting out wine and eating healthy foods. No wonder diets, no fancy juice only diets - just good old healthy living.

My aim is to get a stone off in 6 weeks - so middle of August.

Anyone fancy it?

Oooh I have been doing this for nearly 3 weeks now. I am only wanting to lose half a stone and so far have shifted 3 pounds so nearly half way there. I am doing it entirely by cutting out chocolate, biscuits, cakes and crisps etc and trying to eat more fruit and veg.

My daily breakfast has changed from peanut butter on toast to one of those crisp cereals (like Jordans) and fresh fruit.

Can anyone tell me of good excercises to tone a flabby tummy other than sit-ups? I can't do sit-ups as when ever I try I can feel I am using my back muscles more than my stomach muscles.

Hideehi · 27/06/2007 10:22

Forget sit ups you need to burn the fat surrounding your stomach area and that is mainly diet anyway.
Loads of cardio and then start toning with pull ups at the gym or the exercise balls.

ComeOVeneer · 27/06/2007 10:26

Oh yes excercise ball. I bought one of those last year. It is still in the garage from when we moved in January, will dig it out this afternoon.

Roskva · 27/06/2007 11:29

To do sit ups using your stomach muscles, pull everything in like you're doing pelvic floor exercises, tuck your chin towards your chest, and then gently pull even more so your shoulders come up. If it's really hard work, you know you're doing it right

right, just done a 5k run followed by Pilates class at gym.

think am going to do a minimum 5k run every day - that'll shift soem fat (I hope!)

harleyd · 27/06/2007 15:39

hi all!
so i got stuck rite into it this morning, weetabix for brekkie & chicken sandwich for lunch. got 2 kids off to school and took the other 2 for a walk. what healthy dinner is everybody having??

ComeOVeneer · 27/06/2007 15:43

We are having rolled plaice fillets stuffed with mushrooms and spring onions, cooked in white wine and stock, with boile new potatoes and steamed veg. Lunch was a tuna and mixed bean slad with ryvita and fruit salad with low fat yoghurt. I walked 3 miles today and managed 30 mins of excercise dvd. Have caved on the caffiene and had a cup of coffee after lunch, but not bad in the grand scheme of things.

harleyd · 27/06/2007 15:50

im having tuna steak with salad, followed by some yogurt. have dug my mini trampoline and stepper out from under the bed.

majorityofone · 27/06/2007 15:59

Can I join you too please. Am 11ish and would very much like to be 10ish again so I don't need to but a whole new large person wardrobe. Don't want to follow any fancy diet as I know that if I cut out the rubbish and the midweek glasses of wine and eat healthily the it will come off. And that seems to be what you are all doing!

MrsPuddleduck · 27/06/2007 16:02

I am trying to lose 4-6 lbs in three weeks (holiday looming).

I can recommend Heinz chicken Noodle Soup (50 calories in half a tin) and a brown roll for lunch. The soup has noodles in it so it is a bit more filling.

I am trying to eat half a tin of fruit or a toffee snack a jack in the evening instead of chocolate.

I am also drinking a cup of tea every time I feel hungry which seems to be doing the trick.

I managed to lose 2 lb last week.

huffpuff · 27/06/2007 18:08

hi all - so far today
Brekkie - bagel and banana
snack - healthy fruit bar
lunch - salad and apple
dinner will be baked pots, chicken and veg

I am craving a bag of crisps right now as just got in from work and fancy something bad!

Well done all of you!

Got the skipping rope out yesterday and nearly killed myself whilst entertaining the neighbours and random passers-by.

Today have eaten, so far scone and coffee for breakfast but my excuse is I spent half the night in hospital with dd, who developed croup, and that was just about the only appetizing looking thing the hospital cafe had on offer.

salmon sarnie and salad for lunch, and I nobly declined crisps.

Forgot I'm not supposed to be drinking and had a G&T

supper is sausage and lentil casserole

Hideehi · 28/06/2007 21:54

Bollox i've put 2lb's on since Monday, been to the gym every night, did have Maccy D's for dinner though and feel a bit sick

Roskva · 05/07/2007 22:27

Anyone else still out there?

EmilyandLola · 06/07/2007 08:43

Im about 10 8 want to be 9 6....

Roskva · 07/07/2007 19:24

Hi there.

I'm trying very hard to eat healthy things and not eat unhealthy things. I've just made the interesting discovery that bread (and possibly all things with wheat in) gives me stomach ache and makes me bloat, so avoiding wheaty things also means avoiding a lot of rubbishy things.
