Signed up to start Dec 31st.
Wondered if anyone else here on it / done it?

It's going great. Honestly weight loss for me is slow (6 Ibs) but my husband has lost 23 pounds now!

My shape has changed a lot though.

I honestly feel that I have basically learned how to eat properly.

I've had some slip ups along the way but because it's not diet food it's not a big deal to get straight back to eating this way.

The meals I most enjoy are a butter chicken recipe, coconut Dahl, savoury slice and porridge with pecans and cream :-)

Thanks for your reply.
I'm giving it serious consideration.
well done on your success so far!

CatGoals · 31/03/2019 19:44

Are you given exercise targets? How often do you have 1:1 support chats with your mentor @missfliss?

CatGoals · 31/03/2019 19:45

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun your three months are up I think, how did you get on?!

CatGoals · 31/03/2019 19:46

Do you log your meals in the app to keep track?

Sorry, so many questions, I hope some of your are still around Smile

CatGoals · 31/03/2019 21:21

Hopeful bump Smile

tillytubby · 04/06/2019 14:20

Another hopeful bump

RubySlippers77 · 12/06/2019 23:36

I'm thinking of joining this too - hoping the OP is still doing well on it!

RoseyPeas · 02/07/2019 11:49

I'm also considering this.
Does anyone know if dairy is limited? I do love milk and cheese.

PinkFlowerFairy · 29/07/2019 06:37

Just wondering how this has gone for those doing it?

Moanranger · 30/07/2019 17:03

I am six weeks in. Mixed result, I am walking a lot more which is good, but have not really lost any weight. Portion control is on carbs only ( fruit, bread, starch veg, rice, grains) No real control on fats, protein in terms of portion sizes. Which is a flaw, I think.
I have asked my mentor for help, but she is not responding.
Some lose weight, but it is not working for me.

RoseyPeas · 30/07/2019 19:42

@moanranger Thanks for the honest feedback, I was just about to sign up this week, and it's really the contact with mentor and accountability which i.am most in need of. I might just stick with Mumsnet instead!
Do you count grams of carbs?

PinkFlowerFairy · 31/07/2019 00:19

Thanks fir the feedback. Disappointed to hear about the mentor. Arent they paid to do that!? I imagine its what you're paying for.

Im not sure about limiting fruit. My diet is far too carb heavy. I really need help but could do with a person irl...

drspouse · 31/07/2019 12:43

I've just had a look at this but although I really need something fresh I don't know how this could work for me.
Our family meals, due to the preferences of the DCs and DH (one DC has special needs, DH has Type 1 diabetes) are quite traditional (no dahl I don't think, there's enough drama over a stir fry!), carb heavy and as I tend to cook more days than not, I'm not cooking for just me as well.
We need to keep biscuits and sweet stuff in the house and the DCs' main healthy snack is fruit.
I would find it very hard for myself to cut down sugar, but I could give it a go, but no coffee? N.O.!
So as not to dismIss it entirely, has anyone been managing to combine it with family meals with no additional cooking?

drspouse · 31/07/2019 12:47

Oh and what do you eat for snacks?
The daily plans above don't sound like they'd fill me up and the main meals would meet with no enthusiasm at all from the DCs.

Moanranger · 01/08/2019 15:38

I am still sticking with it, but I think it works better for some. You fill up by eating lots of veg, and more fat than on a typical diet. So yesterday I had a banana oat pancake, full fat yogurt and walnuts for breakfast, a salad with 1/4 avocado & sour cream for a dressing, & dinner was a stir fry, chicken and a small serving of rice. 1 glass of white wine.
The big thing is to eliminate sugar, so no bottled salad dressing (invariably has sugar) and not to limit fats. This should keep you full.
I did hear back from my mentor, she suggested one serving of fat per meal, and that I could have two servings of fruit, although the guidance says only one.
If you really cannot eliminate sugar, then something like Weight Watchers is better.
I have read more & more about the problems arising from sugar consumption, so I am keen to get it out of my diet, but it is very challenging as it is in so many processed foods.

drspouse · 01/08/2019 20:34

I hated Weight Watchers (lasted about a week) - nobody could explain things logically enough to me, just kept referring to their rules.
I'm not really sure this type of "rules" thing will work with kids - it's hard enough finding things we will all eat!

tobee · 01/08/2019 21:15

I'm doing this right now. I lost 3 and half pounds in the first week but nothing since. I've been rubbish with the exercise. I think I lost weight initially because I gave myself small portion sizes as well as low carb.

The best thing is it's quite easy, straightforward etc. I am filling in the food diary and weighing in and keeping accountable.

The worst thing is I keep forgetting to read the daily articles; they tend to be quite basic stuff and I keep skim reading and thinking I'll catch up later and then forget. BlushAlso, I keep losing track of the group chat. They are all nice people and quite similar to me diet wise but I just skim a bit. So any comments I make are miles behind the thread! I'm so used to Mumsnet style I worry I'll come over as rude

Moanranger · 03/08/2019 22:03

tobee Interesting. Our group’s hardly makes any comments, just one or two a day. V different from MN.
I would like a group that was more like a Forum. Ours is basically, the mentor say “ Good morning, how are you all, then explains the days theme, usually an article or maybe some exercise routine. Then at some point, one member will make a comment.
I have vastly increased my walking, which is goo, but I am worried I am getting obsessive, so have taken myself out of the steps competition, still walking, but no one but me can see how much.
I have resigned myself to the fact that I won’t lose weight on this, maybe will try Z Harcombe again. My meals are better structured now, but are not resulting in weight loss.

tobee · 03/08/2019 22:56

Probably the best thing for me is keeping up with the food diary.

PamPooveysCow · 04/08/2019 16:59

I signed up today to start in 8 days time, maybe I should have checked here first since the slow weight loss sounds a bit disappointing Confused

mrsmortis · 05/08/2019 15:33

Does anyone who has done this think that it would be possible without access to a kitchen for most of the week?

I'm away 3 nights a week for work (DH is the stay at home parent) and I stay in a hotel on those nights. Could I do this with access to nothing more than a kettle?

Moanranger · 06/08/2019 13:52

mrsmortis It’s big thing is to get you cooking your own meals, esp the first week. So I would say no.
I think it’s target is people who have health problems due to bad eating habits & obesity. A key goal is to cut out sugar & all processed food. If your eating was seriously out of whack, it would probably benefit you. But for me, who mainly cooks my own food anyway, avoids takeaways like the plague, does not binge drink, etc,it has been a big “so what”.
There are regular short articles on eating habits, motivation, etc, but they are pretty lightweight.
Maybe identify what you are trying to achieve, & look for a programme that targets that.
Personally, if I was away at hotels 3 days a week I would use a food pack programme.

Whatsyournameagain · 06/08/2019 16:27

Watching with interest, as an advert for this popped into my Facebook feed the other day. I was thinking of giving it a try but I have a fair amount of weight to lose, and I’m a terrible, unimaginative cook who relies on processed, quick and easy to make crap.

Moanranger · 06/08/2019 18:27

Whats it could work for you, but there is a lot of scratch cooking involved. They give you a recipe book. I enjoy cooking from scratch, but if that is a huge chore for you, it may not work. I am completely sold on the needto get sugar out of my diet, and Our Path does that. But for me, there are elements of the food choices that stop me losing weight. Some people do, though.
