Want to interact with others and get support/motivation for getting healthier and active, and in the process losing weight. But I absolutely don't want to hear any "diet culture", calorie counting or unhealthy disordered eating promotion. Surely I can't be the only one? Sometimes it seems like every thread I click on is just full of upsetting, unhelpful comments that sound like they could have been lifted from a thinspo website.

Go go go whiskey! I don't really want to go swimming either but I'm just thinking about how virtuous and good I'll feel when I've done it 😂 good luck for tomorrow!!

Whiskey you’ll do your prep more calmly after a run - good luck with both!

argumentativefeminist · 12/07/2018 19:20

Super fast and strong swim = CoOp crispy potato slices with my chicken salad dinner 😍😍

Does anyone have a favourite place for cheap but durable workout wear catering for size 20? Just for yoga/aerobics type stuff, not running or anything too strenuous. Fed up of getting all my normal clothes all sweaty and not having anything to wear 😂😂

Argumentative I buy my work out clothes from Asda they're pretty cheap & actually quite good... I'm a 16-18 & buy a large

Verbena87 · 12/07/2018 21:44

I’ve not tried them, but heard about this brand on the radio a while back

www.stateofmindactive.com/Default.asp

They’re pricey but massive sale on at the mo!

argumentativefeminist · 13/07/2018 08:06

Thank you both! Feeling a bit overworked today so just a gentle restorative yoga session this morning and then off to a cafe later to read in peace 😍

Pilates class for me this morning, then our first attempt at a camping trip since parenthood - have a feeling there may be some strenuous keeping-baby-from-flinging-himself-at-the-sides-of-the-tent upper body work involved Wink

JackietheBackie · 13/07/2018 09:27

I have some lovely tracksuit bottoms from Next - they are lightweight and comfy, not too clingy but not billowing about either. They have a nice high waist and don't roll down when I am stretching. Then I have am amazing Shock Absorber sports bra and then just a couple of tee shirt or vest tops that I rotate.

Treated myself to some nice (none exercise) clothes from the online sale at Gudrun Sjodrun. Bit pricey but lovely quality and suits my style (bit boho/hippy).

Have yoga'ed and just enjoying a big mug of peppermint tea before breakfast. Have some nice homemade seeded wholemeal soda bread that I am gonna toast and slather with butter! And a couple of boiled eggs.

Good luck camping! It will be great fun.

argumentativefeminist · 13/07/2018 09:45

Good luck Verbena and have a lovely time! Baby controlling does sound like a good workout 😂

Jackie I'll definitely have a look on Next! Sounds like you're having a lovely morning 😁🌻 hope your new clothes make you feel amazing.

Can't stop admiring my own body today 😂😳 I dont look any different, I don't think, but I feel 🌟amazing🌟!

Hope all you lovely people are having good and happy days too.

OP posts:
Verbena87 · 13/07/2018 14:07

Ah that’s great when you have a good body day! There are big mirrors in the Pilates studio and I was pleasantly surprised by how much definition my legs have given I’m not running yet - walking everywhere with the pushchair and living at the top of a hill must be more effective than I realised!

Anyone else want to share a bit of their body they love?

I’m a fan of my legs today (they look hot), and my boobs every day (breastfeeding is magic).

argumentativefeminist · 13/07/2018 16:42

I love my boobs too - we have disagreements about how much sagging is biologically possible at my age, but when theyre behaving I can get killer cleavage 😂

I also really like my big tummy - it sounds weird but I love it because I know people expect me not to! I'm the kind of fat girl that has one big pregnancy style belly instead of lots of cute rolls, so the less aesthetically noticed/celebrated kind of fat, I think. But I do love it, because it's part of me, and I think it's a radical part of me, and I like defying people's expectations of fat girls. (Although it should realistically be smaller in order to be healthier, and I'm making peace with that!)

I'm wondering how much exhaustion is normal? 25 mins fast breaststroke last night, and 12,000 steps today but not particularly fast or hilly, and my legs are so sore I could actually cry and I've been in a foul mood all evening. I do have foot problems that then affect knees so I was wondering if this was normal? Would you all feel like this too or should I maybe get my foot issues checked out again?

OP posts:
SkeletonSkins · 14/07/2018 10:01

I think when you do something new you can expect some muscle/aches and pains but if it continues would definitely be worth getting checked as perhaps Vit D could be low or something similar if your body is struggling to bounce back?

I’ve not been great diet wise this week. Not AWFUL but dodgy. But I’m not beating myself up about it because i know I can get back to healthy habits from today and it’s not a slip, just a few treats.

Going to have a nice bath and then get my dogs out on a nice dog walk to up those steps!

argumentativefeminist · 14/07/2018 11:59

Good advice, thank you SkeletonSkins! Feel better today but going to take it easy to give myself a bit of extra time to recover.

I'm getting myself a McDonald's and some sort of cream cake from Tesco today to celebrate getting a first for my second year of uni!! We all need and deserve treats sometimes 🌟

Verbena87 · 15/07/2018 16:35

How’s everyone doing?

Feminist I don’t think that leg pain sounds normal to me - if you’ve got pre-existing issues and it happens again I’d get checked. On a cheerier note, a first is bloody brilliant - WELL DONE!!

Lovely weekend here - 8 mile hill walk yesterday in gorgeous weather and I’m feeling tentatively excited as I did a couple of very short bursts of running barefoot on grass with no bladder-between-labia prolapse mishaps.

argumentativefeminist · 15/07/2018 16:39

Thank you Verbena!! I think I just overdid it last week - need to pace myself even with my newfound enthusiasm for exercise!

That sounds like great progress! I'm too big to run at the moment because of the impact on my knees and feet but I'd love to if I got slimmer! Hill walking sounds amazing - think of the bubble butt implications! 😂

OP posts:
Verbena87 · 15/07/2018 16:48

Ok so if you’re working towards running hill walking is amazing (because, yup, it wakes up your glutes 🍑 - though I seem to be naturally flat bottomed spite my squat/bridge/Pilates habit Sad)

So is plenty of core work and glute stuff.

Then when you’re ready, NHS couch to 5k podcasts.

(I’m evangelical about running because it is so unbelievably brilliant for my body and mind. The best thing.)

argumentativefeminist · 15/07/2018 16:50

Thank you for the advice! It's really helpful to know where to start. I'd love to be able to run and go fast! There's something very liberating about it.

Verbena87 · 15/07/2018 16:58

Each to their own but I loved it so much when I was in training pre baby. I used to do fell running before the baby and the feeling of challenging people’s expectations (especially your own) is so fab. I’m skinny and pale and a bit awkward with big glasses and stringy little muscles; trotting calmly past big strong gym-fit men 10 Miles in and giving them the same kind-but-condescending look as they gave you on the start line while they vomit on their trainers is the best feeling ever.

(There. That’s not in the spirit of the gentle sane spirit of the thread at all, is it?! Blush)

user1499173618 · 15/07/2018 17:01

Ultimately what you need to focus on is feeling great. You will look well/healthy/happy to others if that is how you do in fact feel in yourself.

CantankerousCamel · 15/07/2018 17:04

I am around 7 stone overweight but have no plans to crash diet to lose. I weightlift around 4 times a week and do a crossfit class, so around 8 hours of training plus dog walks of 40 mins x 2 a day.

I eat plenty, I eat cake (gasp) I even treat myself to a cider every now and again. No urge to starve myself.

argumentativefeminist · 15/07/2018 17:05

Verbena Oh trust me, that's very much in the spirit of the thread, or at least in the spirit of me 😂 I'm hopefully going to start burlesque dancing next year and one of the main things I'm looking forward to is being able to exercise without any of the obnoxious gym men.

Very true about feeling good making you look good! I'm feeling great at the moment and am definitely glowing.

Welcome Camel! 👋 Your username made me snort 😂 that sounds like a great exercise regime - I'd love to do weights sometime and get Michelle Obama arms! Occasional treats are very much in our philosophy - might finish off the wine in the fridge tonight (unless it's gone off 😳).

It’s grest and far, far less twats at CrossFit from what I can see
