Anyone want to give up sugar with me?

I'd like to give up sugar and need to be accountable, anyone want to do it with me and post about it here?

I want to give us sugar for health reasons and to lose the last of my baby weight.

I don't really have any rules except I'm not going to eat anything obviously sugary, cakes, biscuits, chocolate etc, but will still have things like shop bought stuff with sugar as an ingredient (ketchup etc) and honey.

If this sounds like something you'd like to do too, please come join me! Smile

I only started last weekend, so it's been nearly a week. The past couple of days I haven't even been able to finish meals. I did feel hungry for the first couple of days, but just kept busy and it was fine.

The only drawback is that I have been waking up more in the night and feel like I have a lump in my throat

Actually I think the reduced appetite is partly because if I do snack, it tends to be a handful of nuts or a corn cake with peanut butter. That really seems to squash my appetite

I've cut out sugar since Monday alongside 5:2 - but have made it 6:1.

Barely any fruit (just some berries and the odd orange), no cakes, choc, biscuits or sweets (this has been big for me) but apart from Monday (=fast day) I've eaten lots, tried to cut bread down so made things like couscous salad for lunch, normal things like chilli or baked potatoes for tea, only a couple of glasses of red wine.

So excited I have lost 5lb this week! I need to lose a stone to get back to my best 5:2 weight (have put it back on over last 12 months) so that's great :)

Well done everyone - it does get easier! It's very liberating too as once you're no longer in the thrall of sugar your appetite becomes reduced and you are no longer obsessed with food.

I'm on day six doing Allen Carr's good sugar bad sugar (same guy as does the stop smoking books). I'm amazed at how much more energy I have; far less hungry, skin getting better - although have three massive spots I guess from sugar detox!

I've cut out all refined sugar including white carbs, so no rice bread pasta or potatoes. I'm eating mainly vegetables, fruit nuts and seeds with some eggs, cheese and meat/fish. Stopped having milk in my coffee and tea but have put a bit of honey in it now and again. I don't have access to scales so can't tell if I've lost anything yet... but I feel better in myself.

Well, something has definitely changed. I've never found myself driving home from work and thinking, "What I really fancy is some Ryvita with cottage cheese on it," before today!
