2018 - Thread 2 of Help Me Mumsnet I have 4 stone to lose and 10k debt to pay off

ChickenVindaloo2 · 28/12/2017 17:17

Hi everyone,

It's the day after the day after Boxing Day, Thursday 28 December 2017!

Just over a year ago, on Boxing Day 2016, I was 14 stone exactly (My highest weight ever was 14st 5, I'm 5 foot 2 ish). So I needed to lose 4 stone just to get to a healthy weight. After a false start, I lost 3 stone, getting down to a low of 11 stone exactly through stopping binge-eating. I also went to (private) CBT therapy and started going to the gym. I had popped back up to 11st3-4 in the run up to Christmas, mainly as a result of complacency and dropping the gym visits due to the dark evenings.Having eaten more than usual and some salty foods over Christmas itself, as of this morning, I'm 11st 5. I need to lose at least 2 stone really to be a healthy weight and perhaps 2.5-3 to achieve peak gorgeousness!

(I also had £10k worth of debt, mainly on credit cards. I re-mortgaged and I now have £5k on a 0% credit card for 2 years. I've worked out I need to pay it off at £200/month)

In terms of weight loss, the general rules are to err on the side of low carb, unprocessed food. I need to get in more salad/veg and restart the gym sessions. I also need to watch portion sizes and ditch the snacks, treats and extras.

Rowgtcfc has been an amazing help throughout and I hope she will join me on this shiny new thread! Would also be delighted to see new comrades of any size, shape or "diet" plans!

I've attached a pic of me at my heaviest plus one at the end of last year.

Some of my best tips which I hope help!

  • every day is every thing. it's what you do every day over the course of a year which makes a difference. In a year, what will you wish you did today?
  • it's ok to just not eat crisps/chocolate/sweets/cakes/biscuits, easier, even, than trying to moderate
  • eggs for breakfast
  • salad and veg are your friends
  • low sugar but good fats is anti-ageing too!
  • You need less food than you think. You won't die from hunger.
  • The secret is: there is no secret. Most slim folk have to prioritise it and work at it.
  • Practice being slim. Act like you're slim.
  • Do what suits you, find your own path. Eg don't assume breakfast is vital for you.

Hi everyone. How are you all doing? Welcome to Aylarose and mrsreynolds. How are you both doing?

Kitty - That's absolutely bloody fantastic news about the medical appointment. Fingers crossed it's definitely not cancer. You must feel so relieved. Well done with all the exercise as well. I'm so pleased you're feeling better already. Keep at it. Did you have a nice niece-free weekend?

MrP - I am so sorry about the hairdressers. We have all been there. I dread going to the hairdressers as I know they'll mess it up! That's so funny about your sandwich buffet Grin. I wonder what other people thought Grin.

Row - I'm sorry that your DD was upset. Did she not think they'd gone well? It's so much pressure at such a young age. As if kids today don't have enough stress Sad. I am also so so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope you are feeling as well as possible. I know it doesn't make up for everything else, but that's great news about the dress.

Chicken - Even though you may be bloated, it sounds like you were pretty well behaved on holiday. Things could be a lot worse! Besides, we all need these breaks from time to time and it's better to enjoy yourself for a week and gain 1 or 2lbs, than to make yourself miserable calorie counting.

I am ok really. Basically the weigh in last week really set me back (I genuinely thought I would lose 1 or 2lbs as I had been pretty good). I'm also stressed about my job situation and not knowing what to do for the best (it's all a very long story and I don't want it to be too 'outing', but basically I'm not in a position where I can really take on a job but I'm very anxious that if I don't get back to work in the next few months then I'll never get a job in this industry again). All this came to a head as we have been visiting various friends since Thursday and it has involved A LOT of drinking and unhealthy food. I've had no fruit and veg, have done no exercise, and have been living off fattening sandwiches and pasta and cake and chocolate. I feel bloated and am in a lot of discomfort. Unbelievably though the scales still said 12.11 this morning, so it must be dehydration from the alcohol Blush. I'm back on it today (apple for breakfast, veggie chilli for lunch and low cal potato and cauliflower curry for tea). I'm really hoping to get back to the gym soon too!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 21/05/2018 12:58

Joins hands with Coffee in re-starting our plans!

I was 11st 10 this am. Had apple, scrambled eggs and detox tea for brunch.

3 months til I meet Britney again and I want to be under 10st for that. So need to lose 24lbs in 12 weeks! Do-able...

I'm still 2 stone lighter than I was this time last year and 3 stone lighter than my all time high.

I know what I need to do and am prepared to do it.

Let's go!

Hi MrPeevly, hope you enjoyed your weekend? That was a good idea about emptying the sandwiches. Smile Did you go for your run? I'm going to do my first exercise session in half an hour. I must admit, I'm not looking forward to it! It's the hardest one of the lot. It's good to hear that exercise affects you quickly. That's my motivation for doing it now. Smile Hope you have a good week.

Hi mrsreynolds, welcome to the thread. Smile You'll find lots of support on here, we are a very friendly bunch. Smile

Hi Row, thank you for your kind words. Smile Sorry to hear about your dog. Sad It's heartbreaking isn't it? You just have to think about what a wonderful like s/he's had with you and all the happy memories you've shared. Hope your 11 year old feels better now too. I'm sure all that digging and shifting knocked off a few pounds. It's great news about the dress, well done! Star Congratulations on the wedding anniversary.

Hi Coffee, nice to see you back. Smile Thank you for your kind words too. Star I've slipped right up on my eating too so don't worry, you're not alone. I kept binging at night and thinking in the day, 'Sod it, I've messed it up know, might as well eat this.' I've been very bad. I've bough a book to read, has good reviews:
Never Binge Again(tm): Reprogram Yourself to Think Like a Permanently Thin Person. Stop Overeating and Binge Eating and Stick to the Food Plan of Your Choice!
By Glenn Livingston Ph.D.
Just going to finish my current book then start reading it. Can't come quick enough! Grin
I hope the rest of your week wasn't too bad? I'm sorry you've had a tough time. Flowers I hope this week is much, much kinder to you. Smile

73kittycat73 · 21/05/2018 14:24

Hi Chicken, missed out a page there! Thanks for the kind words, and glad you had a nice holiday. Smile Sounds like you did well eating wise. 3lb for a holiday is great!
I'm still 2 stone lighter than I was this time last year and 3 stone lighter than my all time high.
Well done! Star You're doing great and I bet you'll shift what you want to, to meet Britney. Smile

Hi again Coffee. Sounds like you are dealing with a lot. I know it might sound silly but have you tired writing your worries down? Then list them from most pressing to least. Start with the bottom, crossing off a few (Hopefully) easy ones, even ones like ' Do a laundry load, to give yourself a boost and see a few ticked off.
I wouldn't worry too much about your bad week food wise, at least you haven't gained! Star I did read an article the other day that says you should take a while off every few months or so anyway. This resets your metabolism and stops your body getting used to the diet and adjusting so you don't lose any more weight. You're definitely not alone anyway, I've been terrible food wise last week!
As for a job, is it possible to freelance for a while? That way you can set your own hours. Wouldn't you still be on maternity leave anyway? I'm sorry it's bothering you so much. Maybe work on your CV so you have something to give out when you do start looking for work? I hope you find a solution soon and it stops stressing you out. Good luck. Flowers

OohOohMrPeevly · 21/05/2018 21:49

Hi Everyone,
Well I pigged out all weekend on wine and food (obvs no sugar but plenty of fish & chips, crisps, barbecues etc). I have been doing a fair bit of exercise but probably not enough to have stopped me gaining a couple of pounds. I am therefore postponing any interaction with the scales for a few days until I've had chance to take action and reverse the damage. Re the sandwich buffet and me deconstructing the sandwiches to make a salad - I made the decision to do it beforehand based on it being the lesser of two evils. I really didn't want to eat bread that day as I was on a roll with my diet and like kitty once I've been bad I want to continue being bad and tend to just think oh sod it. However I did receive strange looks from one man in particular who was sitting next to me but I decided not to care what he thought - the mild embarrassment was short lived whereas the self annoyance at the diet damage would have lasted a long time.

Row so sorry about your dog - it's the saddest thing losing a pet but a vet once told me that having your pet put to sleep is the last kind thing you can do for it.
chicken I think you got off quite lightly after a week away and hopefully that minor gain will be eradicated in a few days. Think of Britney every time you are about to stray from the straight and narrow and hopefully it will keep you focused. I often think of boasty annoying woman in those situations and how good it feels to be slimmer than her.
coffee sorry you've got all that going on. It's really hard to eat properly when you're at the mercy of other people's catering. I liked Kitty's idea of writing down a list of your worries and crossing them off. I am going to try that myself as I am a real worrier. Please do try to get back to the gym and/or exercise at home. I know you didn't lose any weight last week but if you stick at it it will make a difference and it makes you feel better and stronger mentally too. Try re-reading chicken's tips in her original post at the top of this page - there's some good stuff there.
kitty did you do your exercise session - hope it wasn't too hard - no pain no gain and all that. Well done for sticking with it though - daily exercise really adds up to a big difference over a year. I am doing exercise with friends tomorrow which always makes it easier as I can't wriggle out of it.

73kittycat73 · 21/05/2018 23:25

Hi MrPeevly, umm, fish and chips...drools Does best Homer Simpson impression
I haven't had fish and chips for aaaagess. Mind you, I haven't had a roast dinner since Christmas either...Wanders off into food filled daydreams
I did do my exercises. It really helped splitting up the two sessions again today. It felt much more manageable. I have the cardio session to do tomorrow. I hope your exercise session goes well tomorrow. I imagine doing it with friends is a good motivator? Are you doing anything specific, run, cardio, weights, etc? Hope you have lots of fun anyway! Smile

Rowgtfc72 · 22/05/2018 04:36

14 3 here. Always been my sticking point and obviously still is!

Will healthy eating reset with you all in June. Have a week off work with dh and dd next week. Only week of the year were together all week. Can't imagine I'll be very good! Grin

OohOohMrPeevly · 23/05/2018 05:47

Hi All,
Kitty - that's so great that you're doing all this exercise - how did the cardio go?
Row - enjoy your week off with the family and agree there's no point starting the healthy eating regime until after that.
I'm still keeping up to the daily exercise regime with one rest day a week. I know it's not that effective for weight loss but it makes me feel stronger mentally and keeps me away from the fridge. The weekend tummy bloat is starting to subside thankfully; I'm one of these people who is good through the week and turns into a pig at weekends.
I am going to contrive another meeting with Mrs Boastypants to give me the incentive to avoid the crisps for the next few days!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 23/05/2018 14:21

Hi everyone

Well, I've been quite good the past few days. Fingers crossed it starts to show on the scale soon! MrP - Trust me, I can't wait to get back to exercise, it's just been impossible the past week.

Thanks for your kind words Kitty (again!). I'm thinking about freelancing, but worry that the set-up costs (creating my own company, insurance etc) will be greater than any financial gain. I'm very junior in my field, so I may also struggle to get people to take a chance on me. I'm just going to see what comes up in the next few months.

Have you managed to get back on track? I'm sorry you have fallen off the wagon. I totally understand the "fuck it, I may as well go all in" attitude.

MrP - I can't believe you're deliberately setting up a meeting with Mrs Boasty to spur you into losing weight Grin. Hope your tactics work! I'm glad your weekend bloating is settling down.

Row - Have an amazing week off. Definitely don't stress about dieting for that week. You can start again in June Smile.

73kittycat73 · 23/05/2018 20:08

I totally understand the "fuck it, I may as well go all in" attitude.

Grin

Hi Coffee, it's nice to see you back. Smile Well done on your good few days, I really hope it shows up on the scales for you. Star As I can see you are itching to get back to the gym, do you have any free time to go this week? I've been keeping up with mine (Saturdays and Sundays off though.), just! Wink Grin I've got a session to do in a minute. The book is really helping. I've discovered my inner 'Pig!' I believe you can get a free copy, I'll just go look for the link now...Got it:

neverbingeagain.com/index.php/main/readerbonusesdeliver

I've stuck to it so far yesterday and today. (Not a morsel of chocolate has passed my lips! Shock I have reserved that for Saturdays and Sundays only.) I've not read all the book yet but do recommend it.
Good luck with your job scouring. At least hopefully you can take your time and find a job you really enjoy.

Hi Row, I hope you have a lovely week with your family. Smile I hope the weather is nice for you. We have a bit of a mixed bag down here (In the South.). Hopefully there will be a few nice days, including the bank holiday.

Hi MrPeevly, how's your exercise going? Have you seen Mrs Boastypants yet? Grin Well I've got good news (I know I shouldn't say this really, but...) I've only got my nieces on Monday next week (Half term.) so that's a bit of a relief! Blush I feel bad for writing that but it's the truth.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/05/2018 20:16

Kitty dd is eleven and a half and mouthy and full of back chat and speaks without thinking. Sometimes she's just not nice. It is just the age and I'm counting the time till my sweet girls backSmile
Were usually in Cornwall for half term but decided to camp in Derbyshire for a few nights instead. Definitely crossing fingers for good weather.

Coffee and Kitty well done on the self control!

73kittycat73 · 24/05/2018 01:32

Thanks for that Row. Smile Here's hoping for some good weather for you. I hope you all have (Even stroppy 11 1/2 year olds. Grin) a lovely time.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 24/05/2018 11:15

Thanks for the link Kitty. A chocolate-free day would be a miracle for me! Ha ha. I'm so bad. I'm trying to cut down on sugar (and general processed food) as I want to give myself the best chance of not getting diabetes / heart disease / cancer. It's tough though, as I definitely consider myself to be addicted.

How is the exercising going this week? How was the tough session (was it Monday?).

Row, Kitty, sorry you have gobby wannabe-teenagers Grin. I really hope they grow out of it soon. I've got a gobby 19 month old if that counts? Grin.

Kitty - I can hopefully get back to the gym this weekend when DH is home. I can't wait. Although I hate it at the time, I always feel better for it afterwards.

OohOohMrPeevly · 24/05/2018 15:09

Hi All,
Kitty - that book sounds very useful - I used to be such a binger when I ate sugar and loved things like Reece's peanut butter cups and could devour pack after pack. In fact I think I could have probably eaten twenty packs in one go without feeling remotely sick. I still binge on crisps but not in the same way - they are not quite as addictive as sugar. When I used to buy chocolate I used to sometimes get a bit shakey when I was queuing to pay!
Coffee - glad to hear you've got chance to get back to the gym this weekend. If you are interested in trying to stop eating chocolate then I would advise reducing it gradually each day and having a few raspberries instead. I came to love them just as much as I used to love chocolate. Anyway sorry if I am sticking my oar in but as I keep saying it's been a life changer for me and the only thing that's ever worked in terms of long term weight loss without feeling deprived.
May try and find a way of seeing Mrs Boasty next week so I don't pig out over the bank holiday weekend - the thought of her smug face will hopefully keep me from overindulging in the vino and chips.
Exercise wise things are going well and done some every day this week with more scheduled in for tonight with a friend who pushes me hard which is very helpful for me as my natural state is that of a slacker - I really force myself to do it.

73kittycat73 · 24/05/2018 20:38

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy the exercise! I thought you both loved it. Grin I have to really cajole myself into it. I'm managing to stick with it though as I swear it's made a big difference already. My body never usually responds to exercise so I've never really been into it before, however, it's working this time. Glad to see we are in the same boat! Grin
MrPeevly, my downfall is mint Clubs. I haven't had one for three days now. (Can't wait 'till Saturday! Grin) Looking forward to one (Or two...:p ) over the weekend. My mum loves all the Reece's stuff. She's found a Slimfast meal replacement bar that is peanut butter flavoured. I've tried a bit and it is very nut buttery, and has a good, chewy texture so it feels like you are eating something substantial. Don't know if you'd be interested? I think she buys then in Superdrug. I'll ask her later. Hope seeing Mrs Boastpants inspires you! Grin Congrats on all the exercise you are doing. Do you find having to report here helps? I do. Smile

Hi Coffee, I hear you about the addiction! I really shouldn't eat sweet stuff anyway as I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a couple of years ago. I really think losing weight has helped though. I know because (TMI warning, specially if you are eating!) the colour of my morning pee has changed. It used to be really dark orange so I knew I was dehydrated even though I take water to bed with me and drink it throughout the night. Now it's a much better light yellow colour. When I have finished losing weight I'm going to ask for another blood test to see if it's cleared up, or at least doesn't need so much medication to control it. It's good you are being pro-active and thinking of your health. Good luck with fitting some exercise in, I hope you manage it. Smile

OohOohMrPeevly · 25/05/2018 22:05

I have a love hate relationship with exercise Kitty. I hate the thought of it although the reality is not nearly as bad once I get going. I then love the buzz I get from it. Haven't done anything today but did plenty yesterday and have some scheduled in for tomorrow. And yes reporting in here really helps me. Thanks re the peanut butter bars but I am staying away from the sweet stuff even if it's not real sugar as it's a slippery slope back to the real thing. If you've managed to go a few days without the clubs is there any chance you could try and go a few days longer and make something like berries and cream your treat instead? Again sorry if I'm poking my sugar-free oar in!
Chicken if you're looking in, I was in the hairdressers today and I saw a picture of Britney looking ridiculously good saying that because of her new boyfriend (who's really into fitness), she now exercises for five hours a day. That is a crazy amount of exercise.
Incidentally I went to a different hairdresser to get the colour redone after my disaster last week. Couldn't face the trauma of going back to the original one to complain so I went somewhere different and moaned about the original hairdressers and got my colour looking how I like it again - so relieved. I've had a difficult few days this week and hating my hair colour was not helping.
Weight wise it wasn't as bad as I feared when I stepped on the scales and was 9 stone 4.5 - I will probably put on a bit over the bank holiday weekend though as that's what happens on bank holidays.

73kittycat73 · 25/05/2018 22:38

Sorry MrPeevly, I didn't think, re the Slimfast bar. Sorry about that! I'm glad you got your hair sorted how you like it. Hair means a lot doesn't it? So having it right helps. Sorry to hear you've had a bad few days. Flowers Hopefully you are now on the up? Smile
I'm glad you get a buzz from exercising, that always helps! Grin I've only once or twice had the post exercise buzz but have my current motivation by results. I've done my two sessions today. I'm going to do Mondays exercise on Sunday as my nieces will be round Monday.
Berries and cream sound delicious right now! Grin I love cream. I still haven't given in to chocolate yet but I will do tomorrow. I don't feel that overwhelming desire for it though. I'll see how it goes this bank holiday weekend and take it from there.
Does anybody have any plans for the BH weekend? Weather wise it seems we will have rain a lot on Sunday. Hope everyone is doing OK and has a lovely time no matter what they get up to. Smile

Rowgtfc72 · 26/05/2018 06:43

MorningGrin

All this talk of peanut butter..... I have to haver my jar on lockdown or I end up with spoon in it in front of the tv.

Kitty we have type2 diabetes in my family and the nurse assured me I would have it by the time I was 40. I'm 46 now and apart from a brief dalliance with gestational diabetes requiring insulting for three months, fingers crossed, I'm off the hook for now.

MrPeevly how's MrsBoasty ? Unfortunately WW lady has fell off the wagon spectacularly and is now no competition. Need to motivate as i was doing well there and now im on the slide!

Coffee my gobby 11yr old was also a gobby 19mnth old. She started at six months. Didnt crawl till 1 or walk till 17 mnths but boy did her mouth work!

Been looking at the Joe wickes cookbooks. I live off processed chicken and jacket spuds. Dont eat a lot of meat or fish and hate spicy food. My aging guts object to wheat these days too. Some of the recipes though popping up on facebook look doable and very nice. Might give it a whirl.

I have a week off this week so all diet bets are off although we're not sit on our bum types so expect to do some walking about while camping. Dog is in vets for its last ever time wed at ten past five. I'm thinking of going for a celebratory meal to toast the old girl on her way, will have to be good though as leave for camping early the next morning.

Have a good bank holiday weekend all! Off to make a chicken, ham and leek pie Grin

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 26/05/2018 17:57

Aww I'm sorry Row. That's so hard. Definitely have a nice "remembrance" meal with the family. I'm sure she had a really happy life.

I quite like Joe Wickes. I haven't tried any of his recipes though. Let us know if you find anything good!

That's interesting that you avoided diabetes, except when pregnant. I hope that was a typo there ("requiring insulting for three months"). It has made me laugh though Grin.

Kitty - Definitely get a blood test booked in. It will feel so good if you're no longer diabetic! Also it's great to get off as medications as possible (I don't mean when you actually NEED to take medicine, obviously...but if lifestyle changes can improve things so that you no longer need the medicine, it's only a good thing). What exercise have you got planned for this week? When is your next weigh in day?

MrP - Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Great news about the re-done hair, but it's annoying that you needed to do it. Has it improved your confidence?

Hope Chicken and everyone else is doing well. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice this weekend! I'm supposed to be going to a BBQ this weekend, which is probably quite good for the diet (I don't really eat meat, although I love spag bol and chilli, and won't be drinking anything as I'm driving). So far the weekend has been a bit of a disaster. I won't bore you with all the inane details (toddler meltdown and bloody estate agents), but for the purposes of this thread I had a terrible gym session (I can't even call it a gym session TBH). It was just one of those times when nothing worked and everything really hurt and I was light headed and it just wasn't going to happen. I'm having a pre-planned high calorie night off tonight (spag bol - my fave), so hope to enjoy that and then have a really good session tomorrow. On that subject, has anyone got any good running track suggestions? ('Work Bitch' by Britney, obviously...).

Rowgtfc72 · 26/05/2018 22:04

Oh coffee you have no ideaGrin Diabetic nurse who I was under was about twenty stone and six feet wide and VERY insulting! But yes, i meant insulin.
Stella the Jack Russell turned 16 in April. However gutting it is she's had a bloody good innings and its important she goes before she loses her wag.

Sorry to hear about the gym session. It's not something I've ever tried to be honest. Maybe it's like my biking, goes better when in the right mood. I have lots of ministry of sound cds. Great for running. Anything by Sigala is good!

Enjoy the bbqSmile

73kittycat73 · 29/05/2018 00:51

Hi Row, it's good to hear you are all clear on the diabetes front. Smile
All the very best to you for Wednesday. Flowers I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible and is as calm for everyone as can be. Have a nice time camping. How's the weather forecast for where you are going? They keep saying it's going to be torrential down pours here and thunder and lightning. We've had one storm! Was very hot and sunny today.
I'm having this week off too. It was my mum's suggestion. We got weighed on Sunday...I lost 1/2 a pound. At least I haven't put any on I suppose! Smile I swear I feel slimmer but in my measurements I actually stayed the same or put an inch on. I have been binging a bit lately. I went nuts with the mint clubs all day Saturday (Hence being glad I haven't put any on.) so will have to rethink my strategy. That's why I'm taking a week off and to hopefully stop the restrict/binge cycle. Anyway, I hope you have a lovely time camping and going off plan too! Smile

Hi Coffee see above for weigh in day. Blush I didn't exercise today either. My excuse was I had my nieces round. (Who happened to behave today, yay! Grin ) I will start again tomorrow but I am dreading it to be honest, it's not getting any easier! lol I keep thinking I won't be able to exercise on Friday anyway (Got my breast clinic appointment, to hopefully get the full all clear.) so why not just miss it this week? Lol, but I will do it! I must just keep thinking of the results I'm getting.
Sorry to hear about your gym session, it sounds awful. It was best to stop if you felt dizzy. Do you know why? Just running low on energy, the heat, etc? I hope you enjoyed the bar-be-que. Talking of burgers, do you know those burgers you can buy from the supermarkets/corner shops that go in the microwave? Well my mum found vegie burger ones in the 99p shop! (I'm a vegetarian.) I tried one and they are actually really nice! It's good news too as I hate cooking and these only take a minute in the microwave, win, win! Grin

Hope you are having more luck with the estate agents, and of course your toddler. I love toddlers, I think they are such fun. This is going to make me sound really bad but I once taught a toddler the, 'I'm not the pheasant plucker' song. Hours and hours of entertainment that one! The trouble is they eventually learn it too well and can reel it off, off by heart. (I'm going to get in trouble for that confession aren't I? Wink Grin )
Hope you enjoyed your spag bol! Smile We all need some time off now and again.

Hope you had a lovely weekend MrPeevly. Hopefully you've stuck to the exercise better than I have! Grin

Hi Chicken I hope you've had a lovely weekend too. Have you been up to anything? We've got the fare here this weekend. Another reason why I'm having this week off, I love their donuts! Not too keen on candy floss but I do love their sweetie dummies and nougat too.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 29/05/2018 11:46

Grin Row. Sounds a lot like a midwife I saw when I was expecting DC1. I suddenly gain A LOT of weight (I was 10 stone and 5"6' to begin with, so hardly fat) and she started telling me about how I needed to go on slimfast. I would guess she was not far off double my weight, so I didn't really have a lot of confidence in her weight loss tips (sorry, I don't mean for that to sound as awful as it does). It also annoyed me, as I had a history of eating disorders (for over a decade) which was in my notes, so it seemed a really silly thing for a medical professional to comment on when I was at a vulnerable stage.

I'm glad the 3 months of insulting working though Grin. Hopefully you will continue to avoid it.

I'll have to google Sigala (I am old before my time, so don't know any of the new artists!). Thanks for the tip.

I hope tomorrow goes as well as possible. I'm sending a virtual hug.

Nice to hear from you Kitty. It sounds like a loss, even though it was small, was actually a big win! You would have been gutted if you'd gained, so I'm really pleased for you. Great news about the veggie burgers! Remind me never to leave you in charge of my toddler...I have really bad language which I need to reign in now that DC1 is repeating everything I say.

Try and do some exercise before Friday, if you can. It won't make a difference to weight loss, but it may help your mental state...especially as Friday must be playing on your mind to some extent.

The BBQ went well thanks! We were really lucky in that we had glorious sunshine all weekend, so we were outside the whole time. I even went for a run yesterday morning. I only did about 3.5 - 4k and it was a very light jog, but I'm proud that I got out when my heart was telling me to sunbathe Grin.

I hope everyone has a really good week x

Hi All, today has been a bit miserable - back to work feeling knackered after a very indulgent weekend and heavy rain now stopping from exercising. I've eaten and drank way too much and feel like I've gained several pounds. Some of my indulgences include chinese takeaway, chips, crips, way too much prosecco, doner kebab and cheese and onion pasties. As ever, I will be avoiding the scales for the forseeable until I can reverse the position.
Re nurses/midwives giving out advice on weight; my health visitor was the unhealthiest individual imaginable and used to puff and pant walking from the car to my door (a few feet). My friend is a practice nurse who gives advice on diabetes and she is prone to weight gain but tries to run as often as she can so she doesn't feel like a hypocrite whilst giving out advice.
Row I really hope tomorrow isn't too sad.
Coffee well done on the running - it's such a great exercise.
Kitty just curious as to how many mint clubs you consumed at the weekend (to make me feel a bit better about my many savoury indulgences detailed above!)
Anyway keep on keeping on everyone and I will report in later this week. I will avoid Mrs Boasty until I am less bloated. I imagine she's on another thread on here referring to me as Mrs Bloaty.....

I’m so sorry MrP, it’s so easy to enjoy a weekend “off”. As we’ve said before, dieting/lifestyle changes are so intense, it’s hard to be perfect all the time. It does also seem that for lots of people, myself included, a few bad days causes a hell of a lot of damage yet weeks of good behaviour doesn’t seem to make a huge difference! So unfair. I really hope you can pick things up again this week. Keep going lovely! You’ve done so well to get to such a low weight anyway.

Row - Thinking of you today x

I had Weigh-in-Wednesday today. I don’t really know what to make of it as I was down to 12.8. That would mean a loss of 3lbs in a week (I only ever lose 1/2 to 1lb a week when I’m being excellent) so I’m a little bit dubious. That said, I sat at 12.11 for about 6-7 weeks despite being generally good, so maybe it was a “whoosh” after all that hard work?!

Hi all. My thoughts have been with you today Row. Flowers

I think I had about 8, and about 4-5 mini brownies. Blush I'm sure there was more but my brain has blocked it! :p Sorry to hear your day hasn't been going well, I really hope today has been better for you. Smile

Hi Coffee Congratulations on your 3lbs, that's awesome! Star Take the win, take the win! Grin
Sorry, I know you were replying to MrPeevly:

I just had to agree!

As for exercise, I did a session yesterday but was knackered and ended up falling asleep last night instead of doing my second session! (Missed who won BGT as well.) I've decided to start again next week. I only have so much energy per day (Combination of badly controlled diabetes atm, medication and always feeling tired. Dr will occasionally give me a blood test to shut me up but nothing ever comes of it.) and have to decide where to spend it. I'd rather rest and/or clean my flat this week. Oh yeah, and plan my bedroom! Smile I've got the decorating bug. I'm having my front room wallpapered next week, can't wait. I've already spent the next two months money in my head on wallpaper, door handles, carpet, etc. Grin My front room is pale/baby pink and grey (Was all grey but I want a bit of colour now.) Bedroom will be lilac and baby/duck egg blue.
Sorry, went off on a tangent there! Smile
