Ds2 is 14 months, and I'm still 3 stone overweight. I only lost a bit after having him, and nothing since December.

I'm running as much as I can fit in, averaging say 5km a night 4 nights a week, but trying to up it a bit. I did an hour the other night, but as dh works very long and odd hours, I cant stick to a regular routine.

I eat a few shit things, but really not many (only sometimes when you have to grab when rushing around out of home). I know I could do with cutting everything out except vegetables really, but its a logistical nightmare.

I've been taking xenical for a few months, with zero success. Not a pound has gone.

And its not that I'm regaining muscle, as my body shape is totally unchanged too.

Prior to the boys, I ran half marathons, was very healthy feeling, and looked fine.
I'm at a loss what else to try.

How about the exercise along with a do-able diet?

Nothing that involves calorie couting might be better for you.

Have you looked uo slimming world? Lots of pasta & potatoes on green days, as much as you want! Lots of meats on original days..

It works, so far it's been the best food plan I have been able to follow & lose weight!

Budababe · 22/04/2007 15:45

Have you thought about getting your thyroid checked? Sounds a bit strange that even with the xenical you haven't lost anything. Having a baby can alter your thyroid.

fireflyfairy2 · 22/04/2007 15:45

Is Xenical as weight loss pill?

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 16:05

Yep, it is.

No way I'm eating meat, so that'd leave me with just a whole lot os spuds

I'm toying with asking the gp, but I really dont want to seem like a hypochondriac, as I've been in there with the boys alot (comparative to prekids days).
Interestingly, my mum has just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid.

Just how easy is slimming world? I'm a bit loathed to do anything like that, as its not hard to know what you should and shouldnt be eating, and I've never needed to before. Or am I just being too simplistic about it?

are you on the pill? I agree with the thyroid check because that doesn't sound right (unless your portion sizes are enormous and you're drinking vats of beer every night ).

Don't worry about going to the GP often - that is what they are there for and I assume they prescribed the xenical (or can you get it OTC) and need to know it isn't working anyway.

Dimpled · 22/04/2007 16:19

from what you describe I am very surprised you are not loosing weight.

I would go to your gp.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 16:19

Nope, not allowed on the pill due to a suspected blood clot years ago (but never found it )

All our beer goes in the slug traps

What about the cambridge diet? I have lost 14lbs in 3 weeks and had a similar amount like you to lose.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 17:18

Whats that like to do? (I wil look into it myself too, not just be lazy and ask you!) Its needs to be dead easy and veggie!

I have lost loads of weight after having DD, and have decided that eating earlier in the evening is what has done the trick - we used to eat as adults after DCs were in bed - just cos DP gets back late. Now I eat with the kids at 6.00 even if he is not back and I am sure that has an effect.

Thyroid check is a good idea too!

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 18:00

Thanks, thats a good bit of advice I always used to do no food/drinks after 7pm, but lapsed when I had the boys. I'm trying to reinstigate it now. But the boys eat at 5pm, which is sooo early for me, so its hard to have an appetite, and if I dont, I end up eating with dh later, like you did.
A good method I've found lately is that when dh is on earlies, ie he's here for bedtime, I slope off for a think at 7pm, fall asleep, wake at 9 when its too late to eat But then I havent run either!

There is a thread for it on this topic area. Basically you have 3 shakes/soups a day and go into ketosis so your body lives off your fat. You lose on average a stone a monthand should feel great on it albeit cold.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:22

I'll go and look for the thread. Thinking back, I ate alot of soup when I was fit before the boys, as I got it all free

You buy all the stuff from a counsellor.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:29

I've just found your thread, thanks Is it expensive then?

OP posts:
hercules1 · 22/04/2007 19:32

35 pounds a week for all your "food" for thet week. If you follow a link somewhere on that thread there is a website called minimims and has a topic area for the diet which is really useful.

Ii like it because the loss is so fast and you're not mearuring or counting.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:38

I've just had a look on the Cambridge website. It sounds promising, except the cost I cant tell dh; he's go mad!! Its not like we'd save money by me not eating other food in the house, as its all there for him and the boys anyway, there's just be a bit more for them to split!

OP posts:
hercules1 · 22/04/2007 19:39

A lot of dh's react in that way. We dont get anymore takeaways which helps a lot or eat out either. THe results are so fast, really they soon come round.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:42

We never eat out now anyway!! I can chat to him, but I just know the reaction. He'll be ashamed of me doing it 'by a fad instead of just eating sensibly'.

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:44

Actually, I think I'll ask him how much he thinks I spend on feeding myself in a week. If he comes close to £35, I'll tell him, as he cant object to the financial side of it then.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 22/04/2007 19:45

I told dh that I was really unhappy and just eating less and exercising really wasnt going to work as if it was I'd have done it years ago. He was against it at first but now he's seen it in action he is all for it.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:47

Wanna get him to befriend my dh? So, its a plan, unless he guesses much less than that amount, in which case I'm stuffed.

hercules1 · 22/04/2007 19:50

On that minimims link there is a thread showing before and after pictures. SHow him that, it's amazing.

mustrunmore · 22/04/2007 19:55

He said "less than £20 a week" Now what? That means he'd see it as £60ish a month extra spent, when we're usually £50 overdrawn anyway
