without hunger pangs. Sick of being revolting and want maximum results in the least amount of time or i won't stick to it.

Have already cut down on my portion sizes and started eating more negative calorie foods as well as started exercising more, although i am building that up slowly

Skribble, you have it in a nutshell about needing to burn more cals than we are taking in - basic science really, isn't it?

Some diets sound really wacky to me and like you say, are just shortlived wonders.

Like Redbracelet, I have been looking for something that is healthy, sensible and filling so I am not tempted by all the stuff I shouldn't be eating but which other members of this household have on a regular basis (but then they are more active and male so burn off cals easier than I do.)

Incidentally, the diet I have referred to earlier doesn't mean you can only eat low glycaemic index foods - just that more of your food choices are low gi and also have less than 5g of fat per 100g of product. Also calorie value per portion has to be considered. There are various ways of doing this diet - strictly (which means following the written down diet pretty closely) or following the general principles, which may take longer to give results, but will nonetheless. And increasing exercise in all sorts of ways is important, the more you do the quicker you will shift the unwanted pounds. Logical really.

Wow I'm on the atkins diet!!!! (not anorexic at all, thank god for that, had me worried there)

Aloha · 11/03/2007 23:35

No, not hungry at all, oddly. If I crave a savoury taste I have a drink made with stock (Marigold or organic chicken cubes) and if I really want to chew something I have an apple. I also drink cappuccinos etc when out, but I don't really miss food. I am a bit of a all or nothing person though, and I just don't stick to anything that promised 1lb a week and if you don't stick to it religiously you don't even lose that. I just lose all interest in it! I have a stone to lose and then I will be happy. Though I can envisage being happy to lose the last 7lbs quite slowly.

redbracelet · 11/03/2007 23:41

Do you not get pangs Aloha? If i have been "good" then i still get hunger pangs

I have lost2.5 stone on a low carb diet.Best bit is I can still have a G&T and basically eat the same as the family except I sub carbs for slad or spinach.
Absolutely no hunger pangs,in fact have to remind myself to eat lunch most days.
I do have one slice of bread for breakfast ,but make sure I have protein with it.

Aloha · 11/03/2007 23:47

No, not really. And losing weight is a huge incentive!

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 10:12

Is that Bouillion Aloha? How many cals are in that per cup then?

I've been doing Slimming Word since September and have lost 3 and a half stone I would have lost more than that but have been a bit rubbish the last few weeks as children have been ill etc. I have still lost weight but just slower than usual. The great thing about slimming world is that you never feel hungry and there is no calorie counting. I can still ahve a drink or a treat it's the ideal plan imo. If you do this and combine it with an exercise plan it's possible to lose a stone every 4-6 weeks. Not as fast as some but it is a healthy eating plan for life.

sauce · 12/03/2007 10:19

G&T sounds brilliant but doesn't tonic have masses of sugar in it?

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 10:19

i would be happy with a stone in 4 weeks. I downloaded the SW trial menu last night. Seems like a lot of food, do you have to eat all that to lose the weight?

I was considering digging out my old Scarsdale diet. That worked well every time but no booze, not even a thimblefull of wine, allowed. Or even a drop of milk in tea. Or can you cheat a little?

ledodgy · 12/03/2007 10:23

Lol you don't have to eat it all no. The free food is there so yo fill up on that and that is the mainstay of your meals. Then your syns are there for anything extra you are allowed upto 105 syns a week I prefer to count my syns weekly rather than daily iyswim. One night for example I may go out and have about 40 syns and than I know I have 65 left for the rest fo the week. I find it easier to think of it this way than being restricted daily to syns. I also do mostly green days as we don't eat much meet and I feel alot fuller on green. If I want meat on green I use a healthy extra B allowance of meat which is quite alot anyway. There is a slimming world on here with lots of support if you do decide to do it.

ledodgy · 12/03/2007 10:24

*meat

ledodgy · 12/03/2007 10:24

and I meant slimming world thread my typing was rubbish in that post!

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 10:24

so in theory i could just eat the free foods on SW?

I don't drink anyway so thats not a problem!

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 10:25

I knew what you meant ledodgy

OP posts:
ledodgy · 12/03/2007 10:26

Yes you could I did that for the first few weeks and hardly ahd any syns and had about 8 weeks of losing 3 pounds one week then 31/2 the next.

ledodgy · 12/03/2007 10:27

should also try to have your healthy extras though too These are syn free and you can have 2 from a (dairy) and 2 from B.

Bucketsofdynomite · 12/03/2007 17:46

Don't understand why you want to lose weight but aren't interested in keeping it off . Is it just for an event or something?

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 19:14

I do want to keep it off, I just want it to be gone very quickly!

hunkerkerplunker · 12/03/2007 19:15

redbracelet · 12/03/2007 19:18

LOL @ cut my head off - though i am 100% sure it would solve my weight problem, i would have a problem with life ie i would have none
