frog! Nooooo! Well never mind as I always just call you frog anyway. Just as long as you don't change your animal completely.....

i'm steaming along on water now sally, no probs. here's what i've eaten today and is pretty representative of every day:

Breakfast: bacon and egg, coffee with cream & splenda

lunch: prawn and salmon salad (lettuce, sp onion and cucumber) with mayonnaise

snacks: lumps of cheese and a pepperami

tea: few slices of ham and pate, not really hungry. (making dh a curry made of strips of steak fried with pepper and mushrooms, with creme fraiche, dried chili and curry powder, served with shredded cabbage)

3 litres of water so far. honestly couldn't be sticking to it any more than i am now that i've nailed the water drinking.

well done you sally - do you want to keep trying to lose after those 2lb or maintain for a bit?

you are are doing miles better than me. am of these lovely sounding meals you're all having. I'm very anti-kitchen atm as all of my kids are going through a mega annoying picky phase. They even turned their noses up at the pasta and tom. sauce fgs. The only effing thing I can guarantee now is bread and apples. sod the little sods. ggggrrrrrrr.

feel my appetite is at last reducing, so good sign. crap at the drinking water - it's the natural consequence which is hard - went 'swimming' today and had to go to the loo twice.

peanutbutter · 08/01/2007 20:52

ernest i know what you mean. i'm naturally crap at drinking water and can go all day from my first visit to the loo after getting out of bed, and not go again until the evening . All the peeing i'm doing at the moment is a bit of a shock and a hassle tbh. the funny thing is, the more water i drink, the more i seem to be recognising my thirst if that makes any sense. won't last though.

ohhhh i can't wait for alcohol

You can't have lasagne but you can have a sort of moussaka which is almost as nice. Leave out the breadcrumbs and potato, just use aubergine. Make the sauce with cream not flour. Not very low carb but OK.

frogdelalune · 09/01/2007 08:56

Well done peanut, you're doing really well. Any luck with persuading dh to drink more? I've found that it's easier to drink large quantities of sparkling rather than still water.

Sally I know what you mean, I luuuurrrrve pasta and especially noodles, but the courgette has become my new best friend

Last night was making home made pizza on baguettes for dd and dh, and was feeling really sorry for myself until I had a brainwave.

I took a courgette, split it lengthways and hollowed out the seeds. Then I spread a small amount of pizza topping on them, then added chopped sp onion, red pepper and peperoni, and covered with grated mature cheddar.
It took longer to cook than theirs did, but was absolutely, bloody gorgeous

OrmIrian, I've never liked aubergine, in fact I think it's the only veg that I don't like.
How are your little furry friends doing?

Ernest, dd is having a fussy spell at the moment too and it's a pain in the bum. Everything she previously liked she seems to be turning her nose up at.

OrmIrian · 09/01/2007 09:25

yh...well You can also make it with cabbage leaves - personally don't like is as much though.

peanutbutter · 09/01/2007 09:50

frogdelalune that courgette pizza sounded really tasty.

yep, dh reckons he drank a lot more yesterday. i'm struggling though, not with the diet which i'm finding pretty easy now, but i had a horrible meltdown moment this morning with streaming tears and i ended up throwing things . it's so out of character, i'm a very steady & calm person normally. i suppose it's some latent anger and frustration at dh's job loss or i dunno - can't say i'm craving sugar...

ernest it sounds like you're on your way

OrmIrian · 09/01/2007 11:43

Blimey - can't say I blame you peanut in the circs. Stress and worry takes it's toll. But it might also still be low blood sugar - eat more! You won't get as hungry but you still need to eat something - just not carbs.

peanutbutter · 09/01/2007 12:44

It was fairly pathetic really OrmIrian - I threw my handbag on the floor and my coat at the window , but i felt like i'd "snapped" for that moment and it was horrible. not "lost it" like some people describe themselves as doing (think i'm far too anal and reserved for that..) but oh i dunno. feel better now though. anyway i apologised to dh for my behaviour and he took it very lovingly thank god.

he's buying ketone sticks today from the chemist, but the good news is that when he got up this morning he felt slimmer

Good luck to one and all

OrmIrian · 09/01/2007 13:08

It happens to us all peanut. I stamped my foot at DS#2 at the weekend . Mind you he'd try the patience of a saint....and I an not one of those.

ernest · 09/01/2007 13:26

I had major melt down yesterday too . My kids and dh are the messiest people on the planet. Literally take off coat and drop on floor where stood, smelly, dirty socks on the settee/under coffee table, lolly sticks on floor, you name it. I decided to join in and chucked everything on floor too in major tantrum mode, as couple with mess, they won't eat a bloody thing. Each on it's own is bad enough, but both together =mummy tantrum . Even after I went off on one, ds2 comes back in - and leaves his shoes on the stairs, so you can't go up or down. I spent all bloody day running round getting ready for his birthday party, taking them swimming, and come back to a tip and refusal to eat.

They even rejected a carrott today fgs.

Still, on the bright side, I'm drinking more water.

Will try that courgette pizza frog. You must give me some more yummy ideas, I'm crap at thinking up stuff like that.

Roast chicken tonight. If they don't eat that I shoot myself

Strawb, are you sure low carb is the diet/woe for you......you might be happier/less tempted on a different one

Ormirian, they'd managed to lose you on the birthday thread so I took the liberty of putting you back

OP posts:
ernest · 09/01/2007 21:24

oh ss. don't dispair. I'm like that too, one slip and I'm gone. tbh I find total abstinance much easier than a bit here and there. Was it you with the one bit of G&B choc a day? I was v. impressed at that, because I know there's no way I could do that. I'm all or nothing.

Your friend's lasagne has thrown you off track. You just said the other day how good you feel on low carb

YOu had a bad night. Dust yourself down, wipe the lasagne from your lips and the chocolate off your chin and be ready to star again tomorrow, and we'll be here for you.

After those words of wisdon, I've been crap tonight, Not headed for a carb frenzy but felt really munchie and have been eating ALL night - a few nuts when making a cuppa, a bit of chicken when making another cuppa, a bowl of rasberries and cream cos still felt piggy. Now feel fat and kicking myself for lack of will power.

Oh Strawb....

Don't you find that your appetite and cravings diminish?
You might be better on GI/GL where you can eat more "stodgy" stuff like beans and oats, and fruit?

Feel rotten in light of everyones problems, but today is weigh day and I'm 12.5lbs.... down 5lbs!
