well done frog!!
I seem to be on a bit of a plateau at the moment, think it might be due to AF due soon or the atkins 1gm bars I've been having too regularly.I'm in ketosis still though.
Still having a problem with constipation and am not very good at taking isphalga husk drinks , does anyone know if there is an isphalga husk tablet instead?

Sally ,are you in ketosis ,cause that's what stops me having the cravings I'm sure.

OrmIrian · 10/01/2007 12:21

Congratulations frog! Thanks for adding me back on the b'day thread. I keep dropping off there i do sometimes feel like I'm a figment of my own imagination on mn.

I intend to be a bit more GLish this time once I've finished with induction. Adding lentils to things and eating rice in small quantities...not bread or anything sweet though as those seem to be real triggers for me.

sally - be patient with yourself. You've been knocked off course by the dreaded lasagne. It will take a few days to get back. Can't you make a low-carb one with cabbage or courgette slices or aubergine?

well done frog. such a fab feeling isn't it?

still going great guns here. we had bacon and mushrooms for breakfast, tuna & mayo with lettuce etc for lunch and tea will be 100% beef burgers with gruyere cheese melted on top and.... summat else, probably shredded cabbage.

It's weigh-day tomorrow. hoping it's "wahay-day" but my jeans are just as tight. OTOH i'm in "strong" ketosis according to the sticks .

frogdelalune · 10/01/2007 16:24

Peanut do you mean that your sticks are deep purple? If so you should drink more water.
The aim is to just get a pinkish colour, any darker can indicate dehydration.
You should be aiming for at least 2 litres of water (in addition to any other drinks you have).

Well done so far though, and fingers crossed for you and dh tomorrow.

I can't be in ketosis as still feeling very munchy. must be doing something wrong

peanutbutter · 10/01/2007 18:43

i'm drinking at least 2 litres every day frog but not usually more than 3. will try harder i promise!

ernest you're probably the same as me, not drinking enough, and that's maybe why you're hankering...?

i'll let you all know how we get on in the morning. going to make tea & watch Excorcist for the 67 millionth time. night all.

Know what you mean Strawb.......it's not as easy as recognising that you are full and stopping eating is it?
I love eating and find it difficult to stop if my plate isn't empty - maybe also being encouraged to leave a clean plate as a child (all those starving children) doesn't help.
I do try to use a smaller plate though........but it just means everythig falls off the sides

Hi OrmIrian (great name btw). I'm pretty new to the Carb free threads but have been lurking on MN for years.

Not only have I lost 7lbs myself, but dh has lost 11 lbs. Probably because he was secretly eating chocolate in the car, if I know him .

When I did Atkins last time (about 2 yrs) ago, I lost nearly 2 stone. I was also going to aerobics twice a week, which helped, but then I had a crap month at work, and my nemesis, the toaster, was calling too loudly to resist. This time I've out the toaster in the cupboard.

peanutbutter · 11/01/2007 09:36

well it's 4lbs for dh which he's very happy with and 2-3lbs for me which i'm a bit pissed off about but spose it's better than not losing or (gulp) gaining.

gym today and then swimming with ds. also having some waxing done so that should lose me a few pounds

ernest · 11/01/2007 10:33

oh wow, I've lost 4 lbs sonce I started induction on 4th January. I'm surprised really. Actually very surprised cos I feel I've been eating a lot, but worse, picking A LOT and not exactly good food either. Yesterday they did a birthday party for ds2 at the Kindergarten, and I had to have a teeny lsice of lemon cake, because he was very proud to have made it himself, including squeezing the juice out and all. But I didn't have o have the second tiny piece. Or finish of ds3's ice cream

And tomorrow is ds2's birthday party at home - 11 boys. Oh what fun. I can hardly wait. And today we need to make cakes, Plus an experiment with cornflake cakes made with molasses instead of golden syrup as I can't buy that here. And no point in an experiment if you don't check the results. I must be strong......

ernest · 11/01/2007 10:36

sorry, should have begun with , welcome Itsthawooluf and well done on your 7 lb loss. That's brilliant.

And peanut butter, don't be upset, you did really well, and in terms of diet, rather than weight loss, miles miles better than me. I'm really impressed. and don't worry about your dh loosing more, it's supposed to work better for men than women . You just concentrate on how well you're doing.

Well done everyone!!! Peanut - don't be disappointed - there's nothing special about 7 days, the weight may come off after that. Sometimes a load comes off literally over night ime. Anyway - 3 lbs is a pretty good start and you've got the hang of the eating now and are getting the benefits in other ways - not hungry, no cravings etc .

peanutbutter · 12/01/2007 10:46

morning all, we're all doing really well aren't we! after 7 days of letting nothing but acceptable induction food/drink pass our lips, dh and and I had a treat last night. One shot each of rum with a splash of coke. Oh how we made it last - a tiny sip here and there - i'm no lover of spirits but god it tasted nice!

breakfast this morning was poached eggs and bacon with coffee/cream/splenda. we're going out for lunch but i've checked ahead (did i mention i'm anal?) and they do plain tuna/mayo salads and cheese salads. my skin's quite a bit better than it's been for a while and my mouth feels cleaner iykwim?

ernest good luck for your birthday party today, can't wait to hear how it went . are you living in the states?

no peanut butter, In Switzerland. 11 boys. Foreign language. Trying to do Simon says was a hoot. They didn't like the cornflake cakes so now have loads still staring at me, tempting me, luring me in. On the plus side my greedy drunken husband rolled in at midnight and proceeded to scoff the crisps, so don't have to worry about those.

It was really fun, and the boys all decorated a mug , which I had to cook last night to set the decoration, so proceeded, at midnight to have to fight off crazed drunken dh who wanted to remove them from oven to cool. I was convinced that crazed drunken husband would smash the lot. SO quite tired, but it was a good laugh. i did have (a big slice) of (bright red (ds's request) covered in white chocolate and sweets) birthday cake. but more or less in one piece.

peanutbutter · 15/01/2007 09:01

didn't like the cornflake cakes?

didn't like the cornflake cakes?!

what sort of children are they raising in Switzerland??

well done though ernest, it must have been knackering .

believe it or not we're still sticking slavishly to the induction. dh has lost 7lbs now. yesterday was scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast then tuna mayo salad for lunch. then one of the sainsbury's butter basted turkey joints for tea with shredded cabbage and cripsy bacon bits. today i've had bacon and mushrooms for breakfast and brought chicken salad to work for lunch.

OrmIrian · 15/01/2007 12:08

7 lbs! Wow ! Well done Mr peanutbutter!

ernest - I think that birthday cakes is very very low in carbs. It has to be. Otherwise it's not fair . And I agree with peanut that it's unnatural for a child to dislike cornflake cakes.....

Itsthawooluff · 16/01/2007 12:21

OOps - had a day in the office and didn't organise low carb food - result 2 latte's + a egg and bacon sandwich. Need a falling off the wagon noise, maybe flumf to reflect lardy self hitting floor.

peanutbutter · 16/01/2007 13:07

i've just come back from an off-site meeting where they put on the loveliest buffets. luscious prawn sandwiches, flapjacks, individual cheesecakes I made excuses about why I wasn't getting any food and then drove back to the office to eat my egg salad. have to say that yesterday i found it very hard not to eat something sweet - just a handful of raisins or a spoonful of peanubutter. i know, though, that it wouldn't have ended with just that and would have spiralled into eating god knows what with me left feeling fat and shit at the end of it.

so i feel rather saintly that i haven't succumbed.

yet.
