stick to meal times and dont eat any crisps, chocolate, sweets, biscuts or cake or infact anything in between meals.

go for a walk for at least half an hr everyday.

swap full fat stuff for low fat. drink squash instead of fizzy pop or coffee/ tea, if you do fancy the odd cuppa have skimmed milk in it.

don't be hard on yourself if you don't lose much weight on the scales you will get there, this should be more about you being healthy so that you can live longer and be there for your husband and kids, also it should help you get pregnant when the time comes. Obesity and caffine do nothing for being able to concieve.

HTH and good luck and congratulations, keep us posted.

Ha ha well feel free 2 give me some ideas, I havent a clue.....Know we dont want a church as we are not religious. Have very little money, as we have only just brought our first home together this year. we are both shy and hate being centre of attention so just want immediate family for ceremony (because we have to) then maybe a small do in the evening with a few friends.

i started doing what i said at the beginning of this year and i have lost 2 stone and have dropped 2 dress sizes and lost 10 inches off my waist. i have to be honest though and say i havent always stuck to it.......... and id like to lose another couple of dress sizes but im not going to kill myself over it, ill get there as and when so if you want to lose more than that you just have to be stricter with yourself. hth

You're not too fat to be married. Someone thinks you're gorgeous enough that he wants you to marry him so you can't be too anything to be married.

There are some gorgeous dresses here that go up to really large sizes - some of them would look stunning on a curvy size 22.

HERTFORDSHIRENANNY · 20/12/2006 14:49

Yes brought some magazines........ well lots really since October when we decided weit would go ahead but they all seem the same.......... thin women in expensive dresses and receptions for 100s of people that cost a fortune!

this site looks great!

JackieNoHoHo · 20/12/2006 14:58

Some lovely ones here .

JackieNoHoHo · 20/12/2006 15:00

And this site seems to go from size 8 to size 36.

JackieNoHoHo · 20/12/2006 15:04

Huge range of sizes here too.

junkinmytrunk · 20/12/2006 15:08

I found my local bridal shop very helpful, did all alterations and were very reasonably priced, give them a go you'll be surprised.

btw I was a size 18 when I got married and there were plenty of dresses to choose from. That was 6 yrs ago so theres going to be even more choice now.

I also ssaved ssome money by having my bridesmaids dresses made by a friend, just cost me the fabric.

You'll find the more friends and family that are willing to help out, the more money you can save.

HTH

HERTFORDSHIRENANNY · 20/12/2006 15:40

Hertfordshirenanny
Congratulations on your engagement. I used to be a chocaholic like you and I've been able to kick the habit. If you'd like to know how I did it, email me at layor9 at yahoo dot com (usual symbols in place of 'at' and 'dot') I can also give you some advice on losing weight if you like.

Hypnosis and visualisation is fantastic for quashing chocolate addiction.

You basically imagine a yummy bar of your favourite chocolate then imagine, for example, it falling right to the bottom of the bin and getting covered in last night dinner slops and dust and hair from the hoover bag with a old bit of christmas wrapping paper stuck to it, perhaps a few baby bogies too. Basically, as gross as you can think of, and your digging it out and you have to ask yourself how much do you want it now? Not much I'm guessing so you have to remember that visualisation everytime the cocoa fiend comes a-calling! I have a phobia about stickers (a whole other issue!) so was told to imagine my creme egg covered in fruit and yellow price stickers! Never touched one since. Powerful stuff and cost nothing! Good Luck with it, let me know if you want more info

I can't recommend slimming world enough I started the diet on 29th August and so far have lost 3 stone. I brisk walk for about 50-60 mins 5 days a week which really helps me tone up. With SW you can have a chocolate bar if you want as long as you include it in your syns.

Congrats on your engagement BTW.

wildwomanofborneo · 08/01/2007 10:45

Also, hypnosis requires no special eating plan and is all about giving you back control over your eating habits. Once sensible restraint is introduced into your subconscious you have no conscious choice but to keep dropping the pounds til you get to the right weight for your body shape. You will never feel hungry or eat less (or more) than your body requires. It's amazing and liberating and I thoroughly recommend it but it's just one of many methods which may or may not suit you.

Look into my eyes, not around the eyes etc...!.

Dottydot · 08/01/2007 10:51

wild woman - I must admit I'm very interested in the hypnosis/visualisation thing - have read Paul McKenna's book - but the mind is a powerful thing and mine ends up overriding any triggers I try to give it (or am I just not trying hard enough?). Any more tips you can give would be helpful.

wildwomanofborneo · 08/01/2007 10:52

Also, please don't say that you're to fat to get married. 1/ You're not 2/ You can lose weight if you want too (as long as there are not medical reasons against it) so you just have to empower yourself to get on with it.

I will never forget my best friend went missing for a couple of days and I finally used my key to go in her house where I found her in bed crying that she was "too fat to live". (she was 17 stone). She had always been around that weight in adulthood but after that started various healthy slimming pursuits and she totally trounced me by losing 5 stone plus and got down to a gorgeous 11 and a half stone - perfect for her height - she looked stunning and still does now, almost ten years later. And so will you x
