New week, new thread

Well I've had a bit of an enforced detox today - not sure why, but came down with a dodgy tummy last night, so have only had a couple of pieces of toast so far. Starting to feel better now, thank goodness, as DH goes away tomorrow until Friday.

WigWamBam · 12/11/2006 20:40

Missed this yesterday - hope you're feeling better today, Jackie!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 12/11/2006 21:45

Thanks WWB - yes, much better now. Nobody else seems to have had it, and no idea where it came from, but there you go. DH is now away till next Friday, so MNing to my heart's content. Although off to watch Torchwood in a bit.

JackieNo · 14/11/2006 08:16

More updates from Sue .

Fauve · 14/11/2006 08:44

Thanks, JackieNo. Warmed the cockles of my heart Surely the vegetable giving the pink colour will have been beetroot, much used in the Russian soup, borscht? Maybe it's just that my head is full of beetroot, since I've been trying to get into it...If other people (eg Jenni Murray, her off Woman's Hour) can be crazy about it, surely I can be too.

WigWamBam · 14/11/2006 10:39

Yeah, it's got to be beetroot, hasn't it. I'm loving Sue's updates; they always bring a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat (although the bacon fat was funny ... sorry, Sue ).

Hello everyone. I always seem to be apologising here - but I really am sorry I haven't been on for a while. Have NOT been doing well on diet, though reasonably ok on exercise front, am not weighing self at moment. However Jackie I see you are the crownwearer at the mo, good for you.

Wonderful to read the Kazakhstan (sp?) story, I don't know Sue, though I've read her posts here, but she comes across as an immensely strong and open woman. Impressive and touching, the whole thing.

It is strangely comforting to come on here and see your names and the chats.

Hi Numbernineteen. Nice to see you again. Glad things are going OK. I'm off to serve shepherd's pie now (yum).

littlemisssensible · 15/11/2006 13:18

Hi Everyone,

Well done all you losers and comiserations to the gainers (of which I'm one )

I've been in Leicester visiting my new grand daughter and her big sister who I guess is really a step grand daughter but I can't think of her as anything other than a bigger new grand daughter!

I've eaten appallingly! Ds and DDIL don't go in for much in the fresh veg line....they eat veg but it tends to be of the frozen variety. Roast spuds etc tend to be of the frozen variety too!! They also have a snack cupboard .....too much chocolate! I've been VERY bad!

In my defense I stayed up way past midnight rocking my colicy DGD and got up at 7.30 with big DGD, gave her breakfast and took her to nursery so I think I earned my sugar hits! (Couldn't have done it without 'em!!!!)

How did I manage with my own? I'm shattered! Good job my body is giving up on reproducing, don't think I could do it again!!!

JackieNo · 15/11/2006 13:20

Glad you've seen your new DGD, littlemisssensible. Sounds like you earned your keep, too, so don't be too hard on yourself.

JackieNo · 15/11/2006 15:38

Well it's all a bit quiet here isn't it, considering it's weigh-in day? Have just weighed, and have stayed the same, which is fine by me.

And (more importantly) more news from Sue

Dottydot · 15/11/2006 16:20

Aww - so lovely following the news on Sue's website.

Meanwhile I put 1lb on this week... . Am blaming my coeliac diagnosis - it's very hard psychologically to know I now can't eat lots of things, so I'm rapidly eating absolutely everything else I can do! Must must change and go back to being sensible...

justamum · 15/11/2006 16:26

hi all, i keep coming on here to post then reading Sue's updates and forgetting completly what I was going to say as I try to stem the tears. It is so moving reading what is happening to her and Jr and she writes about it with such eloquence and honesty (and humour!). She is going to be a lovely mum to that little mite.

I have had a stupidly busy few weeks but things should be returning to normal when DH gets bsck from Germany on Friday. We have both eaten far too much in the last few weeks but hey ho! you can't change things so I may as well forget about it.
Good luck on weigh ins if you haven't already done them.

WigWamBam · 15/11/2006 16:30

Those updates are just so moving, aren't they - she is going to be such a good mum and I just want to fast-forward everything to the ending now!

HI all, WWB was wondering if i could join!

Late starter i know BUT in my defence have had alot going on and wanted to get of anti Ds before i thought about my bulk!!

started last monday with a new healthy eating plan and have shocked myself that i havent had any chocolate, crisps or coke since then!

Cravings are really bad so need suggestions to help stop them. Not sure about weight as battery gone in scales but will sort that! What happens now then (thats if ofcourse you wil have me!) Need some support if im going to ignore this junk food itch that desparately needs scratchin!!!

WigWamBam · 15/11/2006 18:27

Bonkerz, my love - of course you can! How are you doing, haven't seen you around in ages ... and we were meant to be rearranging Tamworth as well

Cravings are tough ones ... apparently if you eat the right kind of carbohydrates then you don't get the sugary cravings so badly - the GI diet is quite good for that. Sadly I haven't really found any really good way to conquer it because for me it's not that I crave something, it's that I just eat and eat and eat it anyway.

If it's chocolate you crave then have you thought about getting some very good quality dark chocolate and just having a couple of squares rather than the whole lot? If you like plain chocolate it's meant to be a good way to deal with chocolate cravings - gives you a really intense chocolately "hit" and satisfies the need for something sweet.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 15/11/2006 20:19

Welcome bonkerz. Agree with WWB - the dark chocolate thing does kind of work for me. On the other hand, I did eat a whole family sized bag of giant chocolate buttons (bought in order to decorate a cake I'll be making tomorrow for Children in Need) on Sunday night while watching Torchwood, so I know where you're coming from .

WigWamBam · 16/11/2006 10:43

OK, so here's the figures:

DottyDot: +1lb (total 12lb)
Fauve: -4lb (total 16lb)
Flutterbee: +3lb (total 19lb)
JackieNo: stayed the same (total 32lb)
LittleMissSensible: +3lb (total 0)
WWB: -3lb (total 17lb)

Bit of a mixed bag this week - exactly the same amount on as off! Come on, girls - we need a bit of motivation, I think!

Fauve ... here's your crown - well done!
