Have been advised not to 'diet' until then...but am using this as an opportunity to just binge constantly.

What can I do until I start? Should I join slimming world or something? I'm so fed up...and I'm just getting fatter and fatter.Hmm

That's fab, well done for reaching out and getting help for it! When is it due to start?

I'm not sure what to suggest really - perhaps it would help to 'forget' that you've got this appointment booked, and continue as you would usually?

Whilst I'm sure CBT will help you massively, it won't be an instant fix (as I'm sure you know) so try to avoid that mindset!

Best of luck to you.

Why don't you treat this phase as a chance to clean up your diet generally? Promise yourself you'll try and eat a cleaner diet, and try and eat stuff that doesn't come pre packaged? OK, I know you'll have chocolate - don't give it up, just concentrate on being good to yourself.

Thank you for your replies. I think I'm struggling because I've been told not to restrict anything in particular and I live my life very much in a fast or binge state. I really don't know what constitutes a normal diet anymore.

Could someone tell me what I should eat on a 'normal' day please?

I've done this. It's hard work, but brilliant. If you work at it, you will feel more powerful than you ever thought you could. I had CBT for bulimia, so binge then purge. I've been recovered for 7 years. I'm healthy, a healthy weight and can even lose a few lb by eating healthily without falling off the wagon. You need to stay away from all diet related stuff, including this forum. Good luck x

You seem to be thinking that the therapy will involve a diet and that is increasing your impulse to binge. But the therapy is likely to be the opposite so the wording 'don't diet until then' is probably just unfortunate Smile. I agree with Loki, stay away from weight loss threads. Come and take a look at the BED recovery support thread in Health/Eating Disorders (will link in a minute) and see if you would like to join. Everyone there will understand and support you in not restricting.

When it comes to what to eat, try and prioritise what your body needs, protein, veg, good fat at every meal time. And beyond that don't worry. Existing solely on empty calories (or starving yourself) messes with your brain and hunger signals, increasing the chance of a binge, so feed yourself good food first and then have the other stuff if you want it.

Good luck Flowers
