Help me break the starve and binge cycle ... please!

Am in dire straits at the moment, food-wise. Am a secret snacker, binge eater, reach for carbs at any/all moments of the day. Then feel guilty, restrict, do juicing, low-carb etc. My weight is yo-yo-ing massively - a stone up and down, and up, since Christmas.
I am not hugely overweight - yet - as I exercise a lot, cycle everywhere etc, but I am due to go in for a knee op at the end of the month and won't be able to exercise for a while, so I want to change my eating habits before then.
I know a lot of this is due to other stuff in my life - work, marriage stress etc, but I really need to change the way I eat for physical and mental health.
I can't talk about this with family, as my sister is a recovering anorexic. I haven't mentioned it to friends either.
I am thinking of trying Harcombe as a lot of what ZH says about food addiction really rings true with me and I know I have serious issues with sugar cravings and candida.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I reckon that Lou should go off here actually. From her last post it sounds like she is soo confused. We're all different and find our own ways IMO and E. I reiterate WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT.

Good luck Lou Grin

She's confused because she has an eating disorder but doesn't seem able to see it as that - her OP isn't really asking for help to stop the starve/binge cycle, just the binge part Sad. Lou, my last question, if one of your DC's was in your position now, asking the same questions, and when they are teenagers and are telling you they need to go on a diet...what would you advise them? Try and be kind to and take care of yourself the same way as you would them.

sleep I do know I have an eating disorder. I know I am bulimic. I have used laxatives a lot. Weirdly haven't felt the need this week on Harcombe but used them all the time when juicing. I also exercise to excess - hence the injury and the op.

Lou please find someone to help you, it won't be an easy process but you can do it Flowers

How exactly would I go about this? I have been to my GP but no help offered as BMI is normal, I am not suicidal etc etc. How do I find help??

I would keep pushing your GP for a referral but if you still aren't getting anywhere then look at

BEAT

Or the other resources I listed above, read the books and look at such organisations as Beyond Chocolate and Institute for the Psychology of Eating that have lots of free material as well as some online courses, group sessions and have one to one coaches. See which resonates the most for you.
