I just don't know where to start anymore sw cc 5:2.. I've got 7 weeks to fit into a bridesmaid dress and I need help! Hmm

I've never thought of 5:2 as being good for fast weight loss, more as a sustainable way of eating.

I'd recommend either low-carb (I'm on BIWI's Bootcamp plan) or calorie counting for quick results, with a total blitz in the last two weeks.

PopcornFrenzy · 11/03/2015 05:51

I've lost 19lbs by logging all my calories into My Fitness Pal app and walking my 10k steps every day, so far I've been at this for 6 weeks...how much have you got to lose?

CharlesRyder · 11/03/2015 06:38

If you did Exante (not recommending it as it is a very personal choice) you could lose 2st in that time.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 11/03/2015 06:51

In the first 7 weeks of this year I lost a stone - I did it by logging everything I ate in My Fitness Pal, cutting out chocolate / crisps / biscuits etc., smaller portions, walking everywhere.

Basically - eat less, move more!

I'm still losing about 2 lbs a week by doing this.

Good luck!

ihave2naughtydogs · 11/03/2015 07:02

l am losing weight by calorie counting. 1500 calories a day and I write down everything and weigh everything. Plenty of walking. The 30 day shred would help you shift the weight as well. It can be watched on youtube.

ToeFluff · 11/03/2015 07:09

Ok, I'm googling exante but looks like mfp is the way forward, I'm hoping for at least a stone so 2lb a week on the dot. Ive just weighed and I'm 12st9...a stone heavier than when I got measured for the dressHmm

I've been failing miserably for such a long time I just don't know what's wrong with me!

Runningupthathill82 · 11/03/2015 08:52

Mfp is great! Just be brutally honest (every cup of tea, every bite of the toddler's leftovers counts!) and do as much exercise as you can.
Also, set it to sedentary unless you have a very active life and don't work in an office. It's amazing how many of my friends think they are active when they actually sit down for 5+ hours a day!
good luck

SoonToBeMrsB · 11/03/2015 10:56

Calorie counting is brilliant and that's what I do but if you need to shift a decent chunk of weight in less than two months you should look at low carbing. Either through meal replacement like Exante (which I've tried and it's hard at first but the shakes are actually nice when blitzed with ice) or through low carb food. You lose approximately a stone a month on Extante and my best friend went carb free in the run up to her wedding because her dress didn't fit.

Oxfordmum2005 · 11/03/2015 12:06

Why not try the cambridge diet? I have been doing it for 2 weeks and have lost a stone already! My starting weight was just a little more than you.
It is tough, but once you a past the 1st week it's fine.

I want to lose about 3 stone, so will be on it for a few months.

Long term I think mfp is the right way to go.

Elllimam · 11/03/2015 12:07

Quorn is good. Every second meal I have quorn and vegetables eg quorn roast, veg and gravy, quorn chicken bits, stir fry sauce veg and bean sprouts, quorn sausage spicy tomato sauce and veg. That way one meal a day is very very low calorie (usually under 200) high in protein and vitamins (from all the veg). Also the 6 week 6 pack is good.

Jemmi · 11/03/2015 12:11

Quorn is actually a frankenfood and highly processed in my opinion.

Jemmi · 11/03/2015 12:13

You could always have the dress adjusted instead of putting yourself under such pressure.

specialsubject · 11/03/2015 12:19

exactly. Eat a bit less and properly, move around more, buy clothes that fit.

crash dieting and wrecking health for a fancy-dress party? I don't think so.

slithytove · 11/03/2015 12:28

Mfp, lost 29 lbs in the last 9 weeks and have eaten loads. Half my weight loss target for the whole year just gone.

Set your calorie limit somewhere around 1200 and don't eat more than half of your exercise calories.

Also, 30 day shred will really shrink you even if you don't lose a lot of weight.

SoonToBeMrsB · 11/03/2015 12:38

Oxfordmum2005

Exante is the same as Sole Source on Cambridge but a fraction of the price. You order the stuff yourself and don't get a consultant.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 11/03/2015 12:41

I'm doing MFP, found it by accident, and love it! Got to be honest though.

I'm going slow, but have lost first 7lb in about 3 weeks, 1.5 stone to go for me (to pre DC4). Also got a garmin step counter thingy, they all link up, so every step counts (although so does winding yarn and kneading bread!).

Good luck! I put in all my data, and it sorted my calorie goal out, 1280 for me. I've only been red once!

Oxfordmum2005 · 11/03/2015 12:44

Yes, I know about Exante, and it's very good too, but I just felt I needed someone to support me just now. My consultant is very good - so far!
Can't believe anyone would criticise this sort of diet, it is teaching me lots about my relationship with food.
And for long term that only can be good.

nottheOP · 11/03/2015 12:48

4:3 together with 16:8 would shift a lot.

I'm doing 5:2 with the 30 day shred and restarting c25k today as it's light enough now. Coming off pretty well. Join in on the 5:2 thread, they're a friendly bunch who ease you in well

ToeFluff · 11/03/2015 14:31

I am Envy at some of your success stories..and not even at the finish line yet!

I have downloaded mfp and have been good today so far- it's always the afternoons I crack and pig out with ds though!

OP posts:
slithytove · 11/03/2015 14:40

Don't be Envy, you are still smaller than me even after I've lost 2 stone! I'm Envy! Grin

IrianofWay · 11/03/2015 14:45

I do my own version of Atkins - although the good Dr A would turn in his grave at the way I bastardize it!

I've lost 6lbs since last Monday - I probably won't lost much at all this week and then it will settle down to 1 or 2 lbs a week after that.

I am also running 5k most evenings in preparation of a 10k race in April. LCing knocks your stamina on the head to start with but I am sticking at it as I know it will pass.

ToeFluff · 11/03/2015 16:17

GrinGrinGrin I've just turned down sausage roll! I Knew posting on here would help me, I'm on track to have my 1st good day for ages and hopefully once I've managed a couple it will come easy(also hoping I'm not speaking to soon!)

OP posts:
Jemmi · 11/03/2015 19:32

So what about getting the dress let out a bit OP?Smile

ToeFluff · 11/03/2015 19:42

Well the bride would be miffed as dresses were made from scratch using our measurements so to gain a stone and have to have the dress taken out is irritating. Plus I'm getting married myself in September so the kickstart would do me good! GrinGrin

OP posts:
Jemmi · 11/03/2015 21:31

Even better if they were made from scratch by a dressmaker, its easy for her to let it out a bit too. If you don't have the dress let out then you definitely have to lose the weight and cannot fail. That is pressure big time.
